megamanmaniac : The problem with mods vs mods is that some of us also have their rgr roles. If they'll be included in the rgr staff vs rgr staff instead, that would leave us only a few participants for the mods vs mods and it doesn't sound like a great and lively competition... Same with 'global vs global' and 'admin vs admin' annd.... the owner vs himself...?

megamanmaniac : I like the idea of having it between each of the respected user ranks and to be honest it is the only fair way that I can see to do the competition. Although in addition  I think there should be a overall leader board that includes all the ranks.

You know, this is actually a great idea. But CP is not my thing. I saw this and was like... maybe I should try to become the frist user to win all 3 competitions, but then I actually read the thread. XD

But yeah... this is a great idea. I will admit... the month after does always feel kind of dead. 

Divine Aurora : Members can still beat staff members if they try hard enough. I doubt any staff members will do every single cp actions until they can't do it anymore. 

earthwarrior : That is true and that can happen but ultimately staff can still do more actions more times a day and have more actions available to them than regular members making the staff members have a unfair advantage when competing against members lower in rank. So the only solution I see is to make staff contribution actions the same as normal member for the duration of the contest.    

This is a good idea......but for me i might not win something like this because i never really try to get cp. If singelli was here she would win the VCS CP edition....(you should see how many cp she gets in a month).

Divine Aurora : Yeah, but it also gives the staff a reward for contributing so much. Anyone can become staff when apps come as long as they deserve the position. If you want an advantage then become a staff member. 

earthwarrior : That right there is the reason why there will be alot of dispute about this competition. Staff has a huge advantage that no one else can gain or obtain except applying for staff  and since geeogree just remade/rebuilt staff I doubt any applications will be out in a while thus making that advantage unfair to the users in the lower ranks. Furthermore I push for what megamanmanic suggested segmenting off the competition between each respected user rank or to make staff's CP actions for the month be the same as normal member for the duration of the contest.

Divine Aurora : That was for mods and mods get less cp than site staff members anyway. There should we more site staff apps soon. 

earthwarrior : Just because more applications go out doesn't mean that the clear huge advantage that staff will have goes away. The competition is a little flawed in this way, but we shall see how things turn out as it gets closer and closer to the competition start date. And I apologize for going a tad off topic here but is there any limitations on applying for staff, like how long you been here how many posts you make, how many trust points etc.? 

Divine Aurora : Im not sure what you mean the advantage doesnr go away. Some positions require you to be trusted but not all of them and they normally require you to do something before you apply. Like if you want to be a screenshot adder you need to take a certain amount of screenshots. 

earthwarrior : I meant the advantage of staff doesn't go away even if you do put out more apps(which it sounded like you were hinting at if more apps go out then the advantage goes away).

A  lot of people bring up how this really gives staff an advantage. But what they fail to bring up is how posting competition SHOULD be more skewed to mods (even though they aren't the ones who normally win) since they are required to have a certain a mount of posts a week. Staff has to do other work that doesn't really go to posting.

But another thing they don't take into account is how the 2 things that give the most points by a landslide is reviews and walkthroughs. Anyone can do those. I'll just have to really keep on top of that because there will undoubtedly be a lot of activity in there, which means there will be lots of plagiarism.

Only thing I worry about is people spamming the rating screenshots, videos, and reviews. That will be spammed for points like crazy.

I love this idea. If there were any categories, it would need to be for actions, rather than position, since, like juliet said, some Mods have RGR roles as well, so that would make it even more unfair than staff vs. everyone else.

The way I see it, even if Mods with additional RGR staff roles do get an advantage, it would kind of balance things out, since we get far less posting done during TdV and VCS, than other members.

All in all, I think this will be a great way of getting new content in the RGR.
And as a note to all who participate, you'll get more CP for reviews on games that have no featured review, if it gets assigned, than you do for games that have them (cheap plug for original reviews on different games, for the win! #Review forum Mod power).

Eirinn : You know... a points system where it would be by each category would work. Like... the top 3 in each category on the day get points. That might actually work.

ender44 : It just means that users of lower power levels will have to find other ways to earn CP and not focus on a single action. I think if a non staff member was determined enough, the limitations wouldn't affect them too bad. For example, if someone wrote a few reviews or even a big walkthrough, there's a good chance that they'd probably be able to secure the day no matter what their powerlevel is.

Jordanv78 : I'm really excited too, for once I'm excited for the month after the TdV. I'm real anxious to see how this turns out. It'll be fun to see different users ranking in a monthly competition for once.

rcarter2 : Yeah there will be a lot of CP abuse but thankfully the CP log page is pretty detailed and the cheaters will most likely be caught.

thing1 : You mean based on every single CP action? The problem with that is, there's 50+ staff actions. The idea is cool but it'd be very time consuming for the competition host to sort through that, plus it'd require me to make modifications to the CP VCS page and I'm not even sure if I'd find the time to make a big modification like that before the month ends.

I think this will be awesome. I think it should be divided into ranks as well, like newbies, members, trusted and so on, sort of like the team group competitions for the TDV but instead of the year, it is by the rank of the users. I will give it a shot. I am really active and plus I am in search of games to review and stuff to contribute. I have 4,000 right now and hopefully with this competition I can reach 6,000 or more. If I try really hard I think I can do it.

I agree with rcarter on this as well, there is no certain advantage skewed toward anyone because you can gain like 100 CP for writing a decent sized review or walkthrough and anyone can do that. So I don't think this game has an unfair advantage toward anyone to such a degree where it isn't worth competing. This could technically be anyone's game if you try, and making reviews is one way to get a lot of them.

This sounds more like me since I am not a heavy poster, I look forward to this, count me in!
