Hey everyone. I just wanted to give you all a small update on what's going on with my family and I. So here goes....

Monday afternoon, we had JUST left our apartment complex to go do our regular errands we do. And we got about half a block away and got rear ended. BADLY!!!!! The woman that hut us was texting while she was driving. I wasn't hurt too bad, but my Mom, older sister and older brother had to be rushed to the hospital. I got a ride from one of the police officer's to the hospital, since I can't drive. Besides the car is TOTALED! *sigh*

And we had my Mom's service dog with us, so I had to take care of her and try to keep my family comfortable and calm. Thankfully they got released from the hospital some hours later. They had slight concussions and something to do with muscle injuries. I'm so thankful they weren't hurt worse. I am a little sore, but nothing compared to their pain levels. So I'm helping them as much as I can. Taking a few days off from work.

Thankfully we got a rental car and will eventually get the money for a new car and none of it comes out of our pocket. Mom is going to sue. Well the entire family is. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know what was going on. I'll post the photos for you all.

That is terrible, see that is the number 1 reason for accidents in the us. Texting while driving. It really sucks if that is your only means of transportation. That car is totaled.  Is your family okay and have you heard from them? I feel really bad, It has been a few years since I was in an accident like that where our car was totaled. Glad to know you are okay though. I am sorry that this happened to you and I hope that lady gets in trouble and knows never again to make the same stupid mistake of texting while driving. I am sorry to hear this. I hope your family is okay though.

My family is okay. Just bruised and battered. I'm starting to feel some pain but not as bad as they are. The woman walked away with absolutely no injuries or damage to her SUV. We all got the worst of the accident. Thank you for the replies. I really appreciate them. =)

And the woman did get a nice juicy fine for doing that. And we're going so sue. My family, all three of them had to be rushed to the emergency room. Thankfully they didn't have to be admitted.

its illegal to use a mobile while driving in the uk.
she would be charged with reckless endangerment, using a mobile whilst driving, and reckless driving. at vest her license would be gone, at worst shed have community service or jail time.

also, suv's suck.
silverlining, new car. given she was being a complete moron id ride her for all shes worth money wise.

That seems really bad. I am sorry for this, and I hope you can get over it soon .

Thank you everyone for your care and concern. I'm just thankful the accident wasn't any worse and that we just walked away with minor injuries.

SunflowerGaming : Do you know how fast she was going when she hit you? And were you guys at a complete stop? Because that is some pretty bad damage. 

thing1 : She was going about 45 mph. And yeah we were completely stopped at the red light.

SunflowerGaming : Yeah... I would sue the crap out of her too. It is a miracle you guys only had minor muscle injuries.

Wow! Thats pretty major damage to your car and family. Texting and driving is proven many times to be a really dangerous thing to you and others. I hope your family wins the sue thing so you can get a new car. 

thing1 : Yeah we're meeting with an attorney tomorrow afternoon to get the law suit started. We're not taking what she did lightly.

SunflowerGaming : I would not take it lightly, either. I mean... she was going 45 at a stop light... and she was texting. Yeah... no way she can win this one, no matter how good of a lawyer she gets. 

I was in a pretty bad wreck when I was 11 and was traumatized by it, so I really feel for ya bro.  Hope that today finds you and your family well.  Remember that forgiveness and trust are two different things.  By taking her to court, you are holding the lady who hit you responsible.  I can't tell you whether it's the right thing to do or not, but she does need to be held responsible, at least.  Remember to forgive her, though.

That is very sad to hear
This is why people should just focus on driving instead.
This is why people should not be willingly given driving license when they really suck bad at driving.

thing1 : Yeah, and the 45 mph is just a guess, she could have been going faster. Just 45 was the speed limit and we kn ow she wasn't driving slow.

supernerd117 : I do forgive her, I just don't think she should get away with injuring my family and I. I'm not looking to drain her dry, but she does need to take responsibility for causing the accident.
