I think the NES and Xbox 360 are the least reliable systems out there. The NES had a horrable loading mechanism that seemed to be a home for dirt, and dust. The Xbox 360, is just plain fragile.

What do you think is the least reliable system.

The ps3 because its always being hacked and the online connection is crappy and goes in and out.

marcushoward : only once and lasted less than an hour and been with ps3 for 3 years and no internet issue
xbox 360 it just sucks. paying for online and last about a year until red rings and its on life support by halo and only has 3  games only for xbox..... xbox sure is a failed and over priced product

GameCube in my opinion, no questions asked.

The only one I can think of right now is nes most games are good most are not so I thought out nes in plus it is one of the oldest game systems.

I'd say Xbox 360. I treat that thing like it's a baby because I'm so scared it will break. It's my only console that I treat very delicately. I don't take it anywhere without putting it in the box with the foam edges. My PS2 and N64 are very reliable. I've practically swung them around the room by their A/V cords and had them working perfectly. Plus I can travel with a game cartridge in my N64. If you pull that with an Xbox 360 the next time you turn in on your game is f***ed. 

I have never had a 360 for those reasons. The least reliable console that I have ever had would have to be my Commodore 64. That thing worked for so long, longer than my friends ones, but recently stopped loading the cassettes.

Every console has it's own flaws.  The XBOX360 would always over heat and die, the PS3 would get hacked a lot.  I don't think there really is the a least reliable console just for the sheer fact that no console is perfect.

I've had a Wii, a PS2, an N64, and an XBox fail.

My friends have had a grand total of 2 Wiis, 1 PS3, and 13 360's fail (from the respective generation. I don't know their rates before, nor do I intend to poke around.)

I think the numbers there speak for themselves. The 360 is the most widespread failure in terms of reliability.

And if that's not good enough... you can just google "360 reliability" or "Console reliability" and you will find that generally, the Wii is the most reliable of those 3 (I must have gotten unlucky) and that the 360 is the least.

If you compare them with past consoles... I don't know, most of those consoles should have probably failed by now if they were going to.

Though I guess we could say the Jaguar or a "failed" console.

I'm just assuming you want to know out of the three "past" gen consoles, and the newest gen, which hasn't been out long enough to get a reliability rating.

Well, considering my friend has gone through 3 PS3s in a few years, I think PS3 and Xbox. They always seem to die when you do nothing wrong. And the NES is a strong little thing... my friends still works.

I have many consoles, but the only one I've had problems with is the Sega Game Gear that I had the pleasure of playing with for about a total of 30 minutes. Someone gave it to me but said one of their kids dropped it down the stairs. (This particular house had some very long, steep, wooden stairs). The power regulator was shot, the sound didn't work, and I would lucky if the florescent back light (yes, it's a florescent tube!) would fire up. It was pretty much shot. If it was taken better care of, it most likely would have lasted longer.

But from experiences that my other friends have had, the Xbox 360 had the most problems. But I have a friend that found one in a dumpster (with a red ring) and was easily able to repair it.

My NES is in very good shape after many years of use, but I may have to solder on a new pin set so games will load better.

All of the modern consoles since Playstation 1 are bad.
Playstation, X-box, Nintendo.
They are all Flawed.

Playstation "gets hacked".
X-Box had a "Red Ring Of Death".
Nintendo only does "Motion Controls that Break way too often".

Nintendo also has a "new game system every 2 years".???
How do they get games for that thing made???
How will they even know if they work??

Who would buy the stuff new???
Anyone who does not wait a good 6 months before buying the next system needs to have their head examined.

I think the sony psp has the lowest reliability I had one for three months and it broke the umd disks get scratched when they are in the psp.The xbox 360 is low on reliability as well for they make the discs scratched when they are in the system as well which makes me mad if I really liked the game and wanted to play it.

I think the PS2 is the least reliable.

One time, when I first bought the PS2, I tossed the box in the back. When I opened it, it was broken, I mean the DVD slot thing was outside of the system! I got refunded and got a white one, thank God not another black one, and it works pretty good

Never by black PS2s. They suck. Plain and simple.

They break VERY easily.

Xbox 360. I got a new Xbox a year ago, and 6 months later, the fan was so broken, I could only load up the Xbox for about 30 seconds before it overheated. Luckily the warranty was still good, so I got a new one for (almost) free

thats not really true, you just got unlucky. ps2 tended yo be pretty robust. the slim not so much. also, im pretty sure the white ps2 was the same except for colour.

I cant say for old gens, iv only got a couple and they all work. iv only ever had gameboys for handhelds and they too all continued to work.
my ps3 broke once.
my friends( as in multiple people) xboxs broke often, even when they got brand new ones. so 360.
im led to believe that they are more reliable now, but that could be fanboy tslk, who knows.

It appears most people hate consoles because they throw them or drop them, like alsonic:
He threw his PS2 into a box, so of course it would of broke... you don't just throw a console around.
People who drop consoles then complain that they broke for no reason need to think harder.
