Hey.

You see, I had been noticing that it's not very often that Vizzed receives a donation right? So I came up with an idea, which will hopefully be a good idea.

What if Vizzed sold products? Mugs with the Vizzed logo, shirts with the Vizzed logo on the front and on the back for example: Davideo7 Vizzed Owner (just an example) if the user have a special role? Perhaps a mouse pad? Or maybe a poster with Vizzed logo and below it would have characters that represent people that made good things on the site? Or maybe a calendar?

And better, people could buy those items with Viz! It would give Viz a better meaning and also could help increase the site income.

Share your thoughts.

Davideo7 : I think you would like to see this suggestion.

I had a idea of David making a app. And in the app you could link your Vizzed account, play games to earn Viz (Games similar to brick breaker and maybe simple platformers), and maybe chatroom app for those who have their phone and WI-FI but no computer. Just a thought, just I feel Vizzed Merchandise like T-shirts wouldn't sell well.
And how does paying for them with Viz help the site income? It's a digital currency.

I don't think mugs and stuff will get bought a lot.

Maybe if we can use something other than pay pal to donate. I think some people wound rather buy a prepaid credit card and donate instead of using their regular credit card.

Paying for the items with Viz will definitely NOT help at all. If anything, that'll just make David waste a ton of money.

Overall, I don't think there are many ways one could increase the income. The idea of selling items in the past was brought up by David, specifically a PC Controller for the RGR with the logo on it, but the idea failed due to the overall cost of making them, Nya~.

Sad to say, but it's best to just work off donations. Most workers at places like restaurants make their only money off tips, so this is kind of the same thing, really.

Seishero Leonhart: Hmm, interesting ideas. I wouldn't think that paying with Viz would help income, but paying with cash would! Maybe a feature that allows people to donate via phones...

An idea I had is a powerlevel for people who've donated a certain amount. They could have their own forum, which is only accessible by people who've donated the amount specified and globals+. Maybe even a couple games just for that powerlevel. There could even be like a free mouse pad or something for people who donate a certain amount...

Just some ideas I thought up quick. XD

I don't know if this would get many sales, but how about maybe a prepaid gift card? For example, all RGR games for $20, or 20,000 Viz for $10 dollars. Maybe even unlimited chat and/or netplay for a certain amount of money. These could maybe sell on ebay or amazon, for starters. Or you could buy one on Vizzed.

Selling anything for Viz fails to really solve anything. I have 109,696 Viz as of typing this so if David were to hypothetically sell Vizzed merchandise (or anything for that matter) for viz, I could easily grab a whole bunch of it and he wouldn't get a single penny for it.

The only way to increase income is if things were sold for actual money. While you can of course buy viz, you can just as easily obtain it without spending any actual money.

And you also have to factor in the costs of making the merchandise in the first place.

If David had T-shirts printed (as an example) and let's say he made 100 shirts at $5 each. That's $500 he spent. Let's say he decides that they should cost 5000 Viz a shirt. Well, I can 'buy' 20 of those shirts without spending any real money. This means David spent $500 and received nothing (or if you want to just go off the cost of what I bought in this example, he lost $100 on the transaction).

So yeah... this idea actually would make David LOSE money rather than gain it.

earthwarrior : You don't have to use Paypal. That is just the quickest and most direct route. I have seen David tell more than enough people that they are free to donate other than a credit/debit card. He will tell them where to send the money.

Start a drive for something you can provide that wont cost money.

Example - I'm not saying this exactly, but if you hit an earmark of 100 dollars that week, Viz rewards would double for the next week.

I've thought about doing something like this for years, it's just a matter of finding the time to do this and to saving up the money to invest into it. I've also thought about finding a good PC controller, getting the vizzed logo printed on it and than selling it on vizzed and making that the official controller of the RGR (and all of the rgr games would be preconfigured for that controller).

I've thought about other "gamer gadget" items too. For example, a USB apapter which would allow you to connect an NES, SNES, N64, etc controller to your computer.

Letting users buy items with Viz would be a terrible idea, vizzed would take a huge loss from that because far more people would buy items with Viz than actual money and there's a lot of people with a lot of Viz.

Davideo7 : I know how you can make an easy $100+ a day, use mobile advertising redirects. Another thing is affiliate marketing programs that pay by click traffic not sales. You also need a flash game room ASAP that is next biggest thing besides RGR that could turn a profit. The last suggestion is to target adult traffic by adding in a adult game room cause sex games is one of your most popular sources of traffic in search engines.

Davideo7 : A game controller would be nifty... but there's only one controller design I personally care for and that's the Sega Saturn's. I would pay all kinds of money if I could get a PC controller with the Sega Saturn controller layout (or an actual Saturn controller that could be hooked up to the PC somehow).

JigSaw : I'm pretty sure David wants to keep the site family-friendly, so I dunno if adding an adult section is really something he'd consider doing. As it is, we disable games that have adult content (and those aren't actually sex games).

Setting up a "Vizzed Store" would actually be a pretty good idea. If you go with Zazzle or something to make t-shirts or stickers even, you'd still make some money off of it.

With how awesome the logo looks, I'd definitely buy Vizzed stickers to put on my guitar case or something.

Crazy Li : The problem is David has adult terms targeted in search engines (not on purpose to my knowledge) and that ends up bringing in lots of adult traffic here, probably a few pedophiles too.

Type in vizzed sex into google to see what I'm talking about.

Breakdown of top adult organic search engine traffic leading to vizzed:

7. www.sex
9. sex games online for grown ups free
11. www.sex video
18. www.sex videos
23. wwwsex

It continues down further as well.

This is way off topic but I thought I would let you know why I mentioned the idea of adult game room cause it could help generate more profits for site. I got plenty of ideas to censor it or embrace it but that is for another thread.

JigSaw : What's a mobile advertising redirect?

I do agree that I need to get a flash game room up eventually, that's been something I've been planning on adding for a while.

An adult game room is something I'd want to avoid. This site is family friendly and there's a lot of kids using this site, that would ruin the image of vizzed and search engines would flag vizzed as an adult site which ultimately would mean less traffic coming to the site (plus it'd go against my morals).

While there are some adult related keywords linking people to vizzed (which is unintentional), there's far more non adult related keywords linking people to vizzed.

Adult video games are maybe a market you could tap into with one of your sites but I want to keep vizzed the way it is with content appropriate for all ages.

Crazy Li : Which model of the Sega Saturn? I think there's 3 1st part controllers that were released on the Sega Saturn. I personally didn't care for the original one but the one that came out later which resembled a Genesis controller was my favorite.

Davideo7 : Probably the one you're thinking of. I kinda liked the feel of the old 6-button Genesis controller and the Saturn one I'm familiar with was basically that with shoulder buttons.

Crazy Li : It's funny that you mention that. Not long ago, I was looking for an NES PC controller for a non-RGR game (Cave Story :V), and actually ended up stumbling upon lots of different old school game styled controllers, with the SEGA Saturn one being a recommended item. Not sure if that's the same style you mean. Though, being I never had a Saturn (I found the lack of canon Sonic games disturbing :V), I can't really guarantee it's the same one you're looking for, but it's at least worth pointing out, Nya~.

Davideo7 : Like I kinda said earlier, I remember the PC controller idea~! Though, all I ever heard about it was that one poll thread (Which I actually think I still have Favorite'd), so if you don't mind me asking, what ever happened to it?

Davideo7 : Like I kinda said earlier, I remember the PC controller idea~! Though, all I ever heard about it was that one poll thread (Which I actually think I still have Favorite'd), so if you don't mind me asking, what ever happened to it?

See you, Space Cowboy

I asked for it. This is what I wanted.

Davideo7 : Mobile redirect advertising basically redirects a user to an advertiser when they visit site on their phone. I think that is how it works, I don't know as I don't have a phone let alone one that has internet. I'm pretty sure the pay is much higher then normal banner ads as the mobile industry has become extremely popular these days.

MegaRevolution1 : This might sound funny... but I've never even PLAYED a Saturn before in my life... and yet I still LOVE that controller. I can't believe you found that. That's so awesome. If it's still available when I next get paid, I NEED to order it (and hope that it's actually in working condition and not all beat up and worn out from use).

I may have a suggestion that you may have already considered, maybe opening up a store on here to sell, like others have said mugs and shirts, but how about old hard to find games and game consoles.  You can get on Amazon or eBay and find an old system for anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks and old games for practically pocket change, you can buy a system and sell it for double what you paid and it still be decently priced.  It may not be a huge profit that you make but it could catch on with people trying to find the older systems they grew up playing.  There is a lot of things you could sell to promote your site and a lot of video game related things to sell from posters to hats to toys, while still allowing playing on here to be free. Hope I haven't posted anything someone else has already said.
