Mada : Super sonic would win by far. Mario's star only lasts for a short time, while Super Sonic can last for a few minutes. Plus the fact that Super Sonic can fly and has super strength, while mario just doesn't take damage.  You might say it is a tie because they are both invincible, but mario's star would wear off faster and then would be taken out.

Pretty much everything metroidhunter said. It only makes sense. I mean, Mario gets super stars relatively easily, just from hitting a random block with his fist. Sonic has to go through all the trouble of collecting all seven of the chaos emeralds, which for practical purposes means beating an entire one of his games--as opposed to Mario who can just get just get a super star in the first level of most of his games--and make sure he has plenty of rings to keep it going. It would be kind of unfair for him not to win in this situation.
