I think the Mother series is better because you can level up. But in Mario it's just levels, and levels, and thats it. So Mother is better than most Mario games.

I don't think that it's really a fair comparison. With Mother, you only have three, identical games. But Mario stretches across all kinds of platforms, and not to mention, tons of games. So I have to go with Mario, because there are not just more good Mario games than Mother games, but I enjoy Mario RPGs just as much, if not more than Earthbound and Mother 3.

This one is kinda obvious for me........ Mother.
Because I'm a huge fan of it. Actually, Mario is the bland thing of jumping from platform to platform. Mother is more in an area where you can explore and collect treasure.

See, I like them both, but for sheer replay value I have to go with Mario. Mario games can be played over and over, and Mother series are really nice, but once you finish them, you're mostly like, eh, and you don't want to replay them right away. I think I've played each of the Mother series once, except Earthbound which I've played a couple of times, but the Mario games get replayed in my house over and over again.

Mario is a mascot for the Nintendo company, and has crossed several genres.

Mother/Earthbound is an RPG that is more about an emotional journey (some light hearted and fun, others deadly serious and morose).

That's like comparing all of Nintendo with Sonic the Hedgehog, in my opinion. If we were to compare the Mother series with a specific Mario series, then they could easily be compared. Under this premise, I have to say the Mario series is better simply because it has expanded into so many different games, entered into various genres from platforming, rpg, to puzzle and learning games.

It has a lot of games, and many of these have a really great quality, and there's always something new on every game that is released...

Personally I like both series, but if I HAD to choose one, I would choose Mario. SMB 3, SMW and Super Mario 64 are among the best games on their respective systems. They are appealing to a wide audience, and one of the most recognizable characters in any media whether it be TV, movies, or games.
