Well, pretty much what the title says: Ray Lewis announced his retirement this morning, saying that at the end of this season, he is going to retire. In, my opinion, Ray Lewis is the best Middle Linebacker of the past 20 years, if not all time.

It is going to be hard. Please reply with what your opinion on this is, how far you think the Ravens will go in the playoffs, and if you think he will be a hall of famer in 5 years.

Personally, I think he will get it, the first year he is eligible.

I honestly do not know how far the Ravens will go in the Playoffs, and I am a Ravens fan. We will just have to see. It is going to be tough, though.

And I think he is fit enough to make his career a 20 year career, but like he said in the first video, he thinks it is time, there are other callings, and he wants to be with his family, so who I am to dispute that?

He's retiring? That's a shame. He was a really good linebacker. I think that he will be in the Hall of Fame as soon as he is able to. And I don't think the Ravens will win, especially without him. I don't remember their postseason opponent, or if they don't know yet, but they shouldn't get past the first round.

Yeah I found this out today. Honestly I don't really care if he retires because I am not a fan of the ravens, I like the Detroit lions more. And I think the colts will win because the have Andrew luck. He is a great q for a rookie. But I know  that Ray Louise will be in the hall of fame.

I don't blame him for wanting to retire. He's played in the league a long time and his body is starting to break down on him.

I'm not positive about the NFL HOF's rules but in baseball, the voting committee waits 5 years as well.

I assume it's to distance a player from their pro career so when they vote they are voting in the actual best and not just getting caught up in the moment.

Also it prevents active players from getting in. Like if they induct him he might decide to come back the next year and be active and inthe hall. It's not easy to come back once you are out for 5 years.

I am sad to see a future first ballot hall of fame player leave the NFL, he had a great career and he is a legend in Baltimore. What a great way to play his last game, the last dance after he was on the field for the knell down, how bone chilling was that!!  Ray Lewis was a monster in the game, I hope the Ravens have a good play-off run and Lewis leaves everything on the field like I know he will! Its sad to see the career end of a legend.

It was really great to see him play well in their game this weekend. Looked like they got a lift from him. The defense looked quicker all day and he led them in tackles.

Should be interesting to see what happens next weekend. Personally I just don't see them being able to beat the Broncos on the road. Who knows though, anything could happen.

I'm a Steelers fan and I have to say Ray Lewis will definitely be a Hall of Famer. He was a great player, if not the greatest player ever at his position. What I don't get is that everyone wants the Ravens to win the Super Bowl now and forget another great player is more than likely going to retire after this year, that being Tony Gonzalez. He's never got a Super Bowl appearance and it would help submit his legacy as one of the greatest players ever as well. He's already the best player at his position.
