That's a tough one...

Try taking their movesets from Brawl to determine who will win. If that's the case, then I would say... Link, mainly because I think he's bad ass. But in all seriousness, Link's shield would protect him from most of Mario's attacks, then Link could finish Mario with his Triforce Slash.

   Unarmed combat Mario wins but if you bring in the bow and arrow and the sword/shield combo Link would dominate.  I would like to see a skills contest more though because Mario does it all!
