Really, this kind of depends on your definition of world peace.  The bible sates that there will be world peace, but that this world peace will be an illusion.  Those that hate Israel will be the ones 'responsible' for the world peace, and they will use it to get the world to ally with them and war against Israel.

The problem is there is just so much hatred and bigotry in the world. It also doesn’t help when there are some in various facets as public figures who use their positions in such a way where it seems that they only spread the wrong message rather than being advocates for peace.

I think one of the key things that would be a good step toward peace would be universal tolerance. For years in his stand up routines George Carlin would spend time talking about how society focuses too much on our differences and how he’d rather focus on the things that make us the same. He referred to these as little nuances. Although light-hearted and quite humorous, Carlin as usual actually touched on a vital issue and it reminds me all the time of what the concept of Political correctness was truly meant to be. Carlin will forever be known as a visionary with one of the greatest minds ever. He was known for his vast use of language and often offended some, he openly admitted that he wasn’t for everybody but if you really look beyond his use of language and humor, often Carlin spoke out against many of an injustice and spoke out against hypocrisy and bigotry. He was and is a man who I have cited many times as my idol. His wisdom and insight is sorely missed.

This is what it boils down to in my mind. We as a society need to focus on what makes us the same. Instead of focusing on what makes tempers flare and our differences politically, instead of labeling people either due to a disability or their race, religious beliefs, or, income level, or, sexual orientation, instead of focusing so much and with such fury on the things that separate us, we as a society should focus on those little nuances. If we as a society were not so quick to judge, no matter what the reason and were more tolerant, sensitive and understanding of one another and more kind to one another the world would be a much better place.

No, sadly not the Islam and the Jews will never settle their differences until Islam get's nuked by the US!

As long as humans exist, there can never be world peace.

Soon and very soon there will be peace on earth, but a few "other" events must still take place...

The less government there is, the more peace there is. I'm not calling for anarchy, but the only way to get peace is to make countries as interdependent as possible (through commerce) in order to raise substantially the cost of a war

I really believe world peace is possible , its just to many things been happening and everyone thinks there will never be world peace .

Maybe..If every one everywhere gave up or joined a single religion and nations would need to give up weapons and things.
Also people would need to not argue I guess?
But the chances of any of that happening are not likely any time soon so as for now..
No I do not think world peace is a possibility.

No matter what, people will always disagree on something. There will always be controversy and there will always be violence. From a Christian standpoint; man is sinful by nature and only God is inherently good. From that view; until the Second Coming the world will always tend towards war, famine and destruction.

I also like the idea of people becoming too lazy to fight.
Witch is more possible every day.
Just look at the "Push-up" thread. So many people can not do more than 10 to 15??
My gym Professor would have flunked me and ensured I never went to the next grade with a performance like that. (Then again he was a bit of a nut.) Though still I think world peace is just around the corner. Just sit back and watch. (Everyone else is.)

I don't think this would be possible either.  For world peace we would have to solve non developed countries problem, only have one religion or no religion and many other things.  I don't think it will ever be possible.

I don't think there will ever be world peace. Think about it there will be those people who want it, but there will always be someone with differant believes then we want and they will fight for there opinion. It's kinda sad if you think about it. What was world war 1, and 2 about... Other then the fact that we were threatened and we retaliated. So I say there will probably never be world peace... I mean we can hope for it, but we shouldn't hold our breath.

World Peace, almost by definition, is possible.  Is peace within 1 person possible?  Is peace between 2 people possible?  Between 3 people?  by extension, as unlikely as peacefulness may become as you add more and more people to this little thought experiment, unlikelihood and impossibility are two different things.  

People (particularly old people) talk about knowing exactly where they were when JFK was shot or when they heard that a man first walked on the moon.  In a world where information and ideas can be broadcast to millions at the speed of light and and people can passionately rally behind those ideas across borders and across continental divides, the idea that the whole world can "wake up" and commit fully to nonviolence is always a possibility, just very difficult to attain due to human nature.  

A different poster pointed out that people will always have different ideas about how to live, and I agree that is highly, highly likely almost to the point of certainty, but for world peace to occur people don't have to agree about everything, they just have to agree to treat each other right and cut out the violence.  People can disagree and protest peacefully.
