Eelektross has an amazing combination of typing, being electric, and an ability, levitate, that removes the chance of a move being super effective against him, under most circumstances. This is super important, because Eelektross doesn't have much bulk or speed otherwise. But is very versatile offensively. I really like the idea behind Eelektross, but the lack of speed just really leaves him open. I'll give it a 5/10. Some speed would really make this Pokémon a lot better.

Next up is Umbreon.

Umbreon huh. I love its design, but I hate facing it. All it does is toxic/ wish/ protect/ foul play. It could also use a bit more offensive power; base 65 and 60 isn't going to do any damage.

I also don't like the requirements needed to obtain it.

6/10

Next up is Crawdaunt.

Crawdaunt has the potential to be a very potent threat if given the right moveset and ability. With adaptability and an aqua jet/dragon dance/crabhammer moveset, it can put in a lot of work. It has power, but its two biggest flaws are its lack of HP at only base 63, and also a sluggish speed stat of 55. Although it has decent physical defense, its special defense is very frail, so it won't live a lot of strong hits.

Altogether, I think you can make Crawdaunt work out if you're willing to give it the right moves. I rate it a 6/10. If it were to get a mega evolution, I wonder what its stats would be.

Next pokemon to rate is Electrode.

Electrode is pretty awful all around; the only things it has going for it are the excellent speed (why it has such high base speed, I have no idea) and only 1 weakness. Unfortunately, the one weakness is ground, however. EQ will take care of Electrode in no time. 3/10

Next up is Skarmory.

Skarmory is a good physical wall and it has a pretty nice steel/flying typing and a decent support moveset. That's really about it in terms of what it has going for it though. It's other stats are fairly mediocre, and it'll likely struggle against special attackers. With the right amount of support it can do well in the metagame as a wall and it'll do fine in game as most pokemon. If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 7/10.

Next up is Lopunny.

At a first glance, Lopunny is pretty lackluster. It has a very basic normal typing, paired with mediocre to average stats all across the board. It has decent defenses, and a good base 105 speed, but it doesn't have enough attack to hit harder. It has a fair amount of reliable moves at its disposal for mega evolution, most notably fake out which is great for chip damage. It also has focus punch, which is great for setting up and getting early kills as a lead pokemon. Altogether though, Lopunny isn't good at taking hits because a strong Earthquake or mach punch should be enough to knock it out. Nonetheless, it is a pretty solid pokemon as a mega. I rate it a 7/10.

Next pokemon to rate is Dustox.

Dustox wanted to introduce a little twist in the bug/cocoon/insect evolutionary lines by getting rid of the Flying type and put Poison in its place. The result is rather good, as it gets rid of the weakness against Ice and Electric, although it adds Psychic, and also disables the double weakness against Rock. Quite the twist for a Pokemon available since the very beginning.

However, being available since very early in the game, and the fact it's a final evolution at level 10, give it a very small movepool that doesn't even get to level 50 and also not very good stats. 50 attack and special attack isn't much, while 60 HP and 65 speed aren't excellent either. The only remarkable note is a special defense of 90, but it hardly comes of any use.

Considering all these facts, I rate Dustox a 5.5/10.

Next Pokemon to rate is Exploud.

Exploud with boomburst is a pretty good competition and it can definitely put some holes in any inexperienced player's team. Overall Exploud is a pretty solid pokemon to use in the tiers because of its solid coverage. With choice specs, it can really take advantage of spamming boomburst on tricky ghost types.

It isn't without flaws though, it is relatively slow and frail which leave it susceptible to being revenge killed or out-sped by faster opponents. It has a nice base 104 HP stat, but that hardly compensates for its mediocre defenses of 63 (defense) and 73 (special defense). The best way to take advantage of Exploud is by investing in a speed/special attack EV spread and then throw the rest onto anything else.

I rate it a 7/10. Next pokemon to rate is Maractus.

Maractus has a high special attack, which is really good, because if you keep using growth, and you unleash a powerful leaf storm, you will deal a lot of damage. But, it has very low speed, so it's not a quick Pokemon. I never had trouble facing Maractus, so you can say it's an easy Pokemon to beat. It has low defense, too. Watch out for its special attack, though. 7/10.

Next Pokemon to rate is Golem.

Golem is one of the worst rock types out there.

Even for a rock type, he is incredibly slow for a final stage pokemon with base 45 speed, and his underwhelming base 80 HP alongside his terrible base 65 special defense make him extremely frail. Even his amazing 130 defense can't save him as his typing gives him many weaknesses to common types like fighting, water, grass, ice, ground, and steel.

He has a respectable 120 attack but with his speed and typing will likely only get one hit of anyway. Not to mention his design is rather unappealing.

3/10

Next up is Kingler.

I just can't love enough Kingler's ultra big pincer. Don't know why, it has been this way since the 20th century.

If we look at its stats, we discover it isn't half bad in battle. A very decent 130 base attack, coupled with 115 defense, and a not so astonishing 75 speed. However, that's as far as it goes, since the other stats are at 50-55.

A low special attack isn't too much of a burden, considering it has Crabhammer and a physical oriented movepool. However, the low special defense can be painful, considering how Electric, and Grass to a degree, abuse of special attacks. Coupled with a rather low HP, Kingler is sure to go down in one hit more often than not.

All in all, I think it deserves a 7/10.

Next up goes Malamar.

Malamar is a very potent threat in the metagame with access to the ability contrary. Its stats are pretty well rounded all across the board, it has a solid HP stat of 86, followed by a good attack stat of 92 and decent defenses of 88 and 75 (which will only get stronger with a superpower + contrary boost.) It might not be a very speedy attacker, but once it sets up a superpower or two, it isn't going to go down easy. The best way to run a malamar is with a superpower/rest set. Overall, it can be a monster to deal with if you give it the right investment. I rate it an 8.5/10. It is a very solid choice even for the higher tiers of competitive play.

The nest pokemon to rate is Miltank.

Miltank has fallen out of favor over the years but it is still a great speedy tank in the lower tiers, with it's only truly bad stat being special attack and having access to a recover variant just pushes miltank more towards good. 7/10

Lairon's only noteworthy attribute is its excellent base 140 defense. And arguably, its decent base 90 attack to a lesser degree. It suffers from an unsightly amount of weaknesses (fighting, ground, water, etc.) being a steel/rock type. Had it been one or the other, it would be a bit more viable. Aside from the aforementioned stats, all of its other stats are rather mediocre. It has poor bulk in HP and special defense, and it suffers from the ridiculously slow speed stat that comes with being a steel, and or rock type pokemon. It has a fairly decent movepool, but this hardly remedies its prominent flaws. Overall I rate Lairon a 5/10. You're better off evolving it to Aggron.

The next pokemon to rate is Clefairy.

Clefairy, With it's new typing as of x and y it does make it a bit stronger. It's strongest stats are hp, special attack, special defense and with moves like Moonblast to attack and moonlight to heal it can be a powerful opponent against dragons especially. It's physical attack and defense are not that good though. But it does have some redeeming qualities albeit not in battle. It's cute. Even if it's not the best in battle you can still keep one either just for fun or for breeding for moves.  Plus give it a moon stone and it does become stronger. I rate Clefairy 6/10.

Next to rate is........ Flabebe.

Fairy types are something I could live without. I'll never understand its introduction, even less the many changes it has brought forth.

Flabébé is fairly good to be the first step of an evolutionary line of three stages. A base stat total of 303 is just incredibly high, in par with pseudo-legendaries. Particularly, 61 Special Attack and 79 Special Defense are remarkably high. The rest are average values, but still pretty decent.

About its movepool, it's more centered towards the Grass type than Fairy. Understandable, seeing how it attaches to a flower, but 3 Fairy attacks against 8 Grass attacks is just unbalanced.

Putting aside my personal dislike for its type, I must say Flabébé deserves an 8/10.

Next up goes Wormadam.
Fairy types are something I could live without. I'll never understand its introduction, even less the many changes it has brought forth.

Tyrunt is a Pokemon with a mediocre typing that has a lacking movepool until level 37. Considering one generally obtains it at level 20, this is awful. With the use of TMs, however, it becomes a force. STAB Rock Tomb and Bulldoze, along with its already known Bite (later upgraded to Crunch) will carry it far. Its ability, Strong Jaw, is nice, as it significantly boosts biting moves. Unfortunately, unless bred, Tyrunt cannot learn the elemental fangs that pair so well with this ability, making it pretty much a Crunch booster.
Tyrunt also has an abysmal Special Defense and bad Speed. These in tandem lead to it being KO'd easily. While somewhat atoned for with its very nice Attack stat, it is not balanced out.

Overall, I give Tyrunt a 5/10. It's majorly lacking in many areas, but it hits HARD.

The next Pokemon for your consideration is Heatmor.

Heatmor is a pretty cool Pokemon, it has a really good design, it is quite strong, and its one of my favorite types so when you put all those together, you have yourself a really good Pokemon. 9/10

Next Pokemon to rate is Treecko.

For a first stage evolution pokemon, treecko's stats are pretty average all across the board. Its most distinguishing stat is its base 70 speed which is fairly high this early on in the evolution line. Aside from its speed, it is fairly frail, with low defenses and HP, it won't be taking hits very well. It can slightly remedy this with access to level up moves including giga drain, mega drain, and absorb. Treecko has a fairly diverse movepool in terms of what it can learn via level up or through tm/tutor.

Altogether, it is a pretty solid choice for a starter pokemon and its potential only grows with each stage of its evolution. I rate it a 7/10. The next pokemon to rate is Tangrowth.
