You can now use the RGR Plugin again as you could in the past. All you need to do is download this new installer (RGR Plugin 2023+ Update). Make sure you already have the RGR Plugin installed first. This updater has its own flash supported web browser built into it (Firefox Portable 42). So when you go to play a game in the Retro Game Room, the updater launches the game in Firefox Portable 42.


Instructions
The RGR Plugin is no longer supported with modern browsers, so that's why you need to install both the RGR Plugin and the RGR Plugin 2023+ Update.

1. Download and Install the RGR Plugin
If you don't already have it installed, download and install it:
VizzedRgrPlugin-2.41.msi

2. Download and Install the RGR Plugin 2023+ Update
After you've installed the RGR Plugin, download and install this:
RGR Plugin 2023+.msi

Note: The installer might get flagged for not being secure, and that's only because it's new and hasn't been installed on many computers yet, so it might give a warning due to not having any information about it. If a windows security window comes up, just click More Info and from there, you can choose to install it anyway.
Note 2: Do not update the Firefox Portable that comes with this installer, otherwise the games will no longer work since updating it will remove Flash from the RGR Plugin. If you do accidentally update it, just reinstall this.

3. Restart Your Computer
You'll need to restart your computer after you've installed the RGR Plugin and RGR Plugin 2023 Update. If you already had the RGR Plugin installed and just recently installed the RGR Plugin 2023 Update, you'll still need to restart your computer.

That's it! Go and enjoy playing any of the 40,000+ retro games in the Retro Game Room. All of the RGR Plugin related features should work.


I apologize that it took so long to get this updated. I started a fundraiser 1 1/2 years ago and finally got this out. This is mostly due to Tom Gibson (RGR Plugin developer) not having the time to continue working on it, so I spent months searching for other developers, and every time I went to hire someone, they would end up not being able to do it. Eventually Tom G. returned to continue work on it, so we all owe him a huge thanks for doing this for us.

I just made the Play Your Own Games page compatible.

The last thing I have to make compatible is RGR Plugin netplay.

classgame : Nope, the RGR Plugin 2022+ Update installer takes care of that. All you need to do is install the RGR Plugin and then install RGR Plugin 2022+ Update. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Netplay should now be supported with this update.

Davideo7 : Finally...useable on the modern browsers...sadly I ended up stop caring about since flashed died and I've been using Retroarch.

How long is this download supposed to take? Firefox says "unknown time" and it doesn't appear to be making any progress...

Gabe Puratekuta : What games are you downloading that is saying unknown time? I know looking at your game profile the last 3 games are 200+MBs each which those can take awhile. Especially the most recent which is PSX which is over a gigabyte.

classgame : There are honestly other ways of doing this. But for the ease of doing this in my opinion the easiest.

I honestly stopped using the RGR a long time ago since I don't play many retro games anymore. If I do it is pokemon rom hacks which aren't on here anymore.

Also with this release though I have been trying to learn more about the RGR to try helping people as I can. I know from this release I have learned currently windows 7 is bugged and doesn't recognize the plugin. Unsure about windows 8.

All in all with question of "Do I really want to download this?"
I would say yes if you want an almost complete click and play. If you want to make a personal collection and you know how to setup emulators(talking more about psx and mame games) I would say no.

The VC++ redistributable that the installer links to when you don't have it, doesn't work. I've installed and reinstalled the VC++ multiple times and the RGR installer still doesn't think I have it.

eDied2014 : Do you happen to have the link that it provided?

Davideo7 : I have the same problem, even though I have the VC++ redistributable it doesn't seem to think I have it even though I repaired and updated the package beforehand.

The link that the tab takes me to in order to get to the VC++ redistributable says that 'the page is not secure' so because of that, I don't access the page.

Do you think there can be a fix regarding this Davideo7?

Davideo7 : I'm seriously having trouble downloading the RGR plugin 2.41, i have both the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable and Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64) 14.29.30139 installed but it STILL doesn't want to install and finish, it keeps saying that i need to install what i just said above but i already did that and still nothing, plus the link i saw to install the Visual C++ stuff is not there anymore

theweapon2 : Do you have Windows 11? Because I have the same problem. My previous laptop (Windows 10) didn't have that problem
