I've been spending the past few weeks making the site more adaptive so that everyone has the same site experience and features no matter what device they're on. Instead of spending a bunch of time trying to explain how responsive the new layout is, I've made a video to demonstrate it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1qOJOJjv8s

Things added or updated in the past 3 weeks:
-Site adapts to almost every screen size
-Users on mobile devices now have access to far more content now
-The size of the generated HTML of the pages is a little smaller, allowing for quicker page loads
-Site users less Javascript, which helps reduce the amount of strain the site can put on your browser
-Site can be shrunk down to a width of 250 pixels
-Messages Center takes up less space
-Site reserves more space for showing who is on a page and the users with less posts take up less space
-Vizzed GO box takes up a lot less space now
-Rearranged some ads
-Enhanced the appearances of various elements on the site and with the way some things are displayed

Things fixed:
-Some old post layouts have been fixed
-Added a ? icon to the header links which allows you to access links that would sometimes get cut off due to lack of space
-Information and Navigation Columns no longer exceed the vertical height of browsers that aren't very tall (they receive scroll bars instead of being cut off)
-Navigation Column also received scroll bar if there are too many links and the links exceed the height of the Navigation Column (especially good for staff, who have access to a lot of links)
-Fixed an issue with the HTML5 RetroArch emulator where the game fails to load on the first attempt
-Some posts couldn't be editted, this issue is fixed
-For posts that have been edited, the previous post box didn't display what the previous post's contents looked like, this is fixed

What sparked this series of updates was when I realized my ad revenue wasn't as high as it could be. Ad Manager told me that the ads for mobile devices were low because of the way the site displayed its content to mobile devices. Basically mobile devices were viewing a different site layout, but now that's not the case. I also noticed that Google was in some situations indexing the mobile pages instead of the desktop pages.

To sum things up, this series of updates should help increase site's revenue, traffic, and everyone's overall user experience.

Hello all,

I realize that the previous announcement had a bad link, and was also ill-timed. I'm making another announcement to remind everyone that the April 2020 VCS is still ongoing! There are a TON of prizes to win just for posting around the boards! You can find more information here, if I don't mess up the link again:

https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102858

Be sure to check it out! It's far from too late to even take first place. The prizes will surely enhance your Vizzed experience.

For more information, refer to this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102859

Hello everyone!

As you all know, there was supposed to be a VCS in March. Unfortunately, due to the database issues, it had to be postponed. But now we're all raring and ready to go for April!

The prizes for this month are INCREDIBLY generous, with almost 600,000 Viz going around, as well as extra goodies! This opportunity is PERFECT for the newbies looking for more Viz and have something to say! I hope you'll all consider giving it a shot!

You can find more details here:

Registration for our annual Bomberman '94 Tournament ends in 24 hours! Be sure to sign up if you have any interest at all.
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102813

For the first time ever, I'm offer a custom username style to the winner of this Tournament. And for those who don't know, Foxyman1113 dethroned me last year so I can be beat. I'm also offering up cash prizes again like last year.

This could potentially be the last Bomberman Tournament that I host due to the potential discontinuation of the RGR Plugin at the end of the year so I'm hoping we can get as many users involved in this. Maybe not for the purpose of winning but for the purpose of having a reason to hang out and chat.

In this tournament we'll be playing Bomberman '94 for the Turbo Grafx. Each user will play 2 matchups a week. You get to choose which day and time you want to play each week from a list of available times and days. Each matchup could be any of the following:
-1-5 Player Free for All
-2 Players vs 2 Players
-1 Player vs 1 Player
-Other possible combinations

This tournament is incredibly flexible to everyone's schedule. Each week you can choose between the selectable times and days that you're available to play. As long as you're available 2 nights a week between 4 PM - 9 PM central time Tuesday-Friday nights then you'll be able to participate. You can even miss a few matchups and still have a shot at making it to the final matchup (but just don't miss too many otherwise you'll be added to the netplay ban list).

I'm now finished recovering data that was lost from the accidental database drop that took place at the beginning of this month. Not all of the data was recoverable but a lot of it was. All site features should be functioning properly again.

Here's a list of everything that was recovered:
-Threads
-Posts (some posts got submitted twice)
-Post Edits (only for posts made before 11/7/2019)
-Thread Edits
-Announcements
-Private Messages (only some)
-New Users (most)
-Game Pages
-Game Page Edits (only for games added before 11/7/2019)
-Donations (most; if yours is missing, let me know)
-Page Edits (most)
-User Edits (most)
-Screenshots
-Screenshot Edits (only for screenshots added before 11/7/2019)
-Screenshot Ratings (most)
-Page Comments
-Marketplace Purchases (most)

Content submitted after 11/7/2019 that wasn't recovered:
-Vizzed GO Captures
-Music Ratings
-Music Playlists
-Game Characters
-Marketplace Listings

For more information, or if you had content that wasn't recovered, or if you're missing Viz, let me know in this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102828

Many of you are stuck indoors during this Coronavirus Pandemic. Why not use this opportunity to tell your friends about Vizzed? And if you do, respond to the below thread after they've signed up and you'll both be given access to all PlayStation games in the Retro Game Room.

Vizzed has nearly 2500 PlayStation Games, which is almost every game ever made, and it includes all retail games, region exclusives, all demo discs, and more. Best of all, the PlayStation games support Netplay (when using the RGR Plugin) which means that you can play PlayStation games, and all other RGR Plugin games, online together!

You can recommend multiple friends and each of those friends will also be given access to the PlayStation games. To qualify though, the registrations need to be done with separate IPs and those accounts need to be created by your actual friend. Only accounts created after March 20th count (obviously). You'll also need to offer proof that the user you say you referred is your friend by either having them refer to you on the registration page (or you could give them your referral link, which automates that) or they'll also need to respond to the below thread.

This offer ends April 4th.

If you have any questions or have referred some friends, respond here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102826

The Marketplace is back up. Most purchases from the Marketplace have been restored. If you placed a listing after November 6th, 2019, you'll have to relist it because listings weren't restored.

If you purchased something in the past 4 months that wasn't restored, respond to this thread and I'll refund you your Viz:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102817

I'm finished with restoring game content that users submitted to the site in the past 4 months. This includes Game Pages, Game Edits, Game Edit Requests, Screenshots and Screenshot Edits. Screenshot Ratings have not been restored yet.

Any Game Edit on a game that was for a game added to the site after November 6th, 2019, was not recoverable due to not being able to matchup game IDs. Likewise, all screenshot edits made to a screenshot that was added to the site after November 6th, 2019, was also not recoverable. So if you added a screenshot to the site after November 6th, 2019, the screenshot was most likely re-added but it'll need to be re-edited. Most browsers save the details that you insert into a form field so you should be able to double click the input fields and see a drop down with the details that you added previously.

I'll work on restoring the Marketplace, Screenshot Ratings, and various other features tomorrow. My kids are home from school for a while due to the Corona Virus so that has slowed down my development this week, placing me behind the schedule I laid out.

If you have any questions or noticed that your content didn't get re-added, let us know in this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102816

I've had many people ask me, and I'm sure there are many others who haven't and are outside of the loop.

Viz amounts are not restored yet. Give it about a week. If you are still missing Viz after that, PM me and I will reimburse you the missing amount.

All of the Announcements made in the last 4 months have been restored. Unfortunately, only some of the Private Messages were able to be restored. So if you sent a Private Message in the past 4 months, check out Sent box to see if it was restored because if it wasn't, you'll have to send it again. Also, the Private Message system is back up and running.

Retro Game Room and Video Game Room content will be restored on Monday. Marketplace and remaining features will be restored on Tuesday.

I finished restoring the posts and threads. All threads have been recovered and with their proper IDs. It took a lot longer than expected since I had to make sure every thread was accounted for and that every thread maintained its same ID as before since the posts are associated with the threads based on their ID.

Most of the posts were recovered. About 98% of the posts were recovered. There were a few here and there that I might have missed and I didn't have enough logs for mid November so there were some posts that didn't get restored from November 7th - November 13th.

Thread Edits and Post Edits did not get restored. There were too many complications with both of these that I decided it wasn't worth doing, otherwise the restoration process would have taken another week. So if you edited any Threads or Posts in the past 4 months, you'll have to do that again.

Post ratings made in the past 4 months also were not restored. Additionally, some posts got re-added twice. If anyone sees duplicate posts, a staff member can easily remove the duplicate. Users should have received Viz and CP for their Posts and Threads being re-added. The script I made was basically like a bot that would simulate the users posting by time traveling, then logging into each account, make the post or thread, then log out, and then go to the next user.

Today I'm going to work on restoring Private Messages and Announcements. If I have any time left over, I'll start working on the Retro Game Room and Video Game Room. I'll make a separate announcement about it later.

So, go ahead and start posting again

I'm about a day behind schedule from what I had made an announcement about last week. Yesterday I realized that the database was so damaged from the incident last week that I was better off rebuilding its architecture and while I was at it, I upgraded the software used on the database also.

Registration is back up and all users who created accounts in the past few months have their accounts back. A few user features have been made available also now.

Here is the new plan for what I should be able to accomplish this week:

Wednesday: Posting and Private Messages
Thursday: Retro Game Room and Video Game Room Content
Sometime Next Week: Marketplace and various other features

Here's a list of known pages that still need content recovered:
-Donations
-Comments
-Game Adding
-Game Editing
-Announcements
-Threads
-Thread Edits
-Posts
-Post Edits
-Marketplace Listings
-Private Messages
-Video Game Screenshot
-Video Game Screenshot Details
-Video Game Ratings
-Music Ratings
-Page Edits

Not everything is recoverable. Anything involving the following content in the past 4 months is lost:
-Vizzed GO Captures
-Game Characters

And here's a list of features currently disabled:
-Game Editing
-Game Adding
-Threads, Posts and Edits
-Marketplace Listings
-Private Message Sending (you can view messages now at least)
-Screenshot Submissions
