The issues where the site will be really slow at loading or not load at all has been mostly resolved. It was related to the excessive bot traffic. We're still getting a lot of bot traffic but I've installed some things and configured various settings on the server to handle some of it.

Many CD Games Removed
I've removed most of the CD games from the website due to not being able to afford hosting them. For the past year, I've been taking a $400 loss on this website per a month, but now with the removal of the CD games, I should be able to get that down to $150. Still not great, but an improvement. My goal is to eventually break even.

I did keep the most popular games for the CD systems. In most cases, I kept the top 5-10%. Here's a breakdown of how many games we now have for each CD system:
3DO = 6
CDi = 18
Dreamcast = 49
PCFX = 5
PlayStation = 100
Sega CD = 25
Sega Saturn = 43
TurboGrafx CD = 40

I originally thought I'd have to remove many MAME games, but I was able to fit them all on the new server.

My wife has been pretty upset with me that this site has had a negative margin of $5000 in the past year. It's been more than 2 years now since this site was profitable. I've been trying to find solutions to keep this site alive, and I'll continue to do so. Hosting terabytes worth of games is costly, which is why the biggest games had to be removed. Removing the Retro Game Room is still not something I want to consider because I think that's the only thing that keeps this site alive. There's a lot of behind the scenes sacrifice I have to make for this site I usually don't talk about, and this definitely would be one of them.

I'm willing to add a few CD games back to the site based on requests. So if anyone has recommendations of games, feel free to suggest them in the below thread and I may get them added back.


Some DS Games Added
The removal of 3000+ CD games is a big loss for the site, so to make it up to everyone, I've added some DS games. At the moment there are 15 DS games, and I'm willing to add more. In fact, I'm willing to add up to 50 DS games total. Just keep in mind that I'm not allowed to have any DS games that Nintendo developed.

I've updated the version of EmulatorJS that the site is using to the latest version. The version we had been using was outdated by about 2 years, and the emulator has had a ton of updates since.

For those of you unfamiliar with EmulatorJS, it's currently the best non-plugin option for playing games in the Retro Game Room and it supports most of the games, including many of the CD systems.

Things worth pointing out:
-Overall compatibility is greatly increased
-Games should play a lot better
-There are a ton of new features like rewind
-There's a ton of customization options now
-There are a lot more options in the menus
-The latest version lets you choose between different emulators for a game (be sure to close the page and open it up again for it to work)

Commodore 64 was made available with EmulatorJS with this update. There are also a lot of other systems that EmulatorJS supports that Vizzed doesn't currently have, but we could get them added in the future (anything that isn't CD based, since we don't have space for that).

The EmulatorJS netplay isn't working yet, but I'll work on getting that taken care of and updated soon.

I should also point out that EmulatorJS had been having issues working for some people for a few months now. This issue should be completely resolved.

2024 was definitely the least active I've ever been on the site, and I apologize for that. Life and work outside of the site got busy, and I struggled with my ambition and focus on the site and with my job as a Software Engineer. I think a lot of it stems from my inability to sleep well getting worst over the past year, possibly related to my stressful job. I really wanted to put together a tribute video for the 20 year anniversary but a combination of not having time and not wanting to be on the computer after being on the computer all day at work really destroyed that project.

A big thing that did take place for the site in 2024 was the server migration which resulted into the site being significantly faster and no longer having various issues that it was having over the past year. The server migration was actually pretty time consuming and technically isn't done (I took a long break from it).
