So, this time, they've decided to take all their Roms/ISOs off of Emuparadise. I just don't why Nintendo does this. They don't make money off of games such as Fire Emblem - The Sacred Stones anymore. So, why do they do it?

Simply, it's because it's illegal to have those, and it's within their rights to deny access to it.

It's just one of those things where it doesn't matter if money is being made or not. You either pay for it, or you don't get it, is their thing, and personally, I'm fine with it.

They'd rather make like 5 bucks on the odd-chance someone buys the game, than give anyone a free game. There's legitimate questions as to whether it's a smart practice, but Nintendo isn't hurting, so I doubt it's going to bother them if they lose a bit of money.

Basically, if you don't like it, don't buy Nintendo products and send them a message. Or don't, because it's illegal to have ROMs anyways.

The games belong to Nintendo, and they have the rights to it. Selling the game free without Nintendo's consent is illegal. They have the rights to take down their ROMs from other sites if those sites have been making them available freely without consent.

In many cases they actually are earning money on it. The Nintendo games most people want to play like Zelda/Mario/Pokemon etc. are already on the virtual console, or if they aren't will likely be released somewhere down the road (such as with the case of Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal, though even then they have made remakes). People aren't very likely to pay for these games or be enticed to get a Nintendo console in order to play them when they can just pirate them online for free, or that is the theory anyway. Not saying I'm happy about it but I completely understand why they are doing it and like has been pointed out they are fully within their rights in doing so since the distribution of roms without their consent is illegal.

I actually ran into this issue when I tried getting a ROM for Sword of Seals the other day. Couldn't find it anywhere.

Also the same issue is with theisozone I'm pretty sure, I can't find any fire emblem there either.

there's one site I can think of that still has those things available. I won't be saying it here though.

Like I said to a friend the other day, think of it like this: I have two PS2s in my home, and I don't use either of them anymore. However, if someone comes into my house and takes one of them, I'm going to be upset about it. Why? Because it's mine and they don't have any right to it.

Or say you have two cars, but only use one. Are you going to say "eh, no big deal. I wasn't gonna use it or sell it anyway." if someone comes up and hotwires and steals the other one? No, you'll report it to the police. Why? Because again, it's yours. You worked to make that car's existence in your driveway possible. What belongs to you, you have the right to use or not use any way you see fit. For them to take it without paying, even if you would never use it again, is stealing from you. Plain and simple.


Now I don't judge anyone for emulating, I'm just explaining why they do it.

There are always going to be Nintendo roms available online. Their efforts only cost us about 5 minutes to find another website.
It really sucks that my favorite rom website got hit. If I was at nintendo making descisions I wouldnt bother taking them down. Theyre likely spending more money getting the games removed than they get from people who buy the games because they got removed. Also it sends a bad message, showing that they are in it only for the money.

All I have to say is, get used to it. Nintendo's not going to change their view on ROMS and emulation, and even if everyone on vizzed and other emulator sites decided to boycott Nintendo (which they shouldn't), it wouldn't make a difference. 

They also removed the ROMs off of Romulation as well, a site I've used for years. Nintendo should really only be doing this for current consoles that aren't discontinued, not for NES games that are resold over and over again on Virtual Console.

No really though, even though I would probably do the same if  were them, that doesn't mean I'm not disappointed. To be honest, I don't know why they even bother trying. You can't just get rid of emulation simply by taking down sites and filing copyright strikes.

If Nintendo Shut Down Emuparadise Then Isn't Vizzed in danger of being shut down too? this site uses ROMs and Emulators as well, Shouldn't David And All of us be worried?

theweapon2 : They already had David take down the Nintendo roms. They didn't shut down the whole website they just had them remove their roms.

Users and Members can still play the removed games, don't you think nintendo's gonna find and remove the links to play the removed games?

theweapon2 : There shouldn't be any playable. David removed them all and had went back to make sure he had gotten rid of them. 

You cannot get Nintendo IPs from vizzed.

They most certainly do make money off of any of their IP's and honestly you can't blame them for wanting to protect them. See copyright laws are weird, if you just let whomever you want make money off of your property, you basically give up the right to protect that property legally.

What Nintendo is doing is what any smart corporation would do. Their properties are still highly regarded and they STILL make a ton of money off of these franchises.

Think of it like this. Would you want other leeches making money off of properties that YOU created? What would you do if you saw that someone stole your property and was taking credit or making money off of it?

I bought Zelda on the virtual console already. Like all the others, it was deleted remotely by Nintendo right before the Wii servers shut down and they claimed they were within their rights to do so because not supporting it apparently meant the games I paid them for aren't technically authorized anymore. I can understand just not being able to download it, but remotely deleting something in an attempt to sell it again? That is illegal.
