I don't hate all rap music. There's some great hip-hop and rap that is fun to listen to, is built for house parties, and puts the mood into one of celebration. That stuff is good. The early 2000s, for example, were the golden years of hip-hop and so much great music came out at that time.

I can't stand the gangsta rap. It takes about killing people, robbing people, and objectifying women and drug use. I can't support anything that tells those tales, like "Today was a good day because I didn't have to shoot anybody." How about never shoot people? Is that too much to ask? Of course, I don't live in those neighborhoods so I can't say anything about it.

Well, even if this thread is broken, the discussion is on and the thread creator will surely reply with the contents of the OP, so let's get into matter.

I don't hate rap music, but I do dislike it because of the fast paced lyrics. Beyond what they say, I prefer calmer lyrics to follow the beat rather than being faster than the beat. I like rap when used in conjunction with other styles, but a full song with just rap is not of my taste. There go E-Life and MC Rage, for example, with their rap lyrics inside gabber beats and melody.

If we talk specifically about the "brotherhood of rap" (if it can be called anything) present here in Spain, I absolutely despise it. You see, Spanish is not a language made for rap or any style like that, any attempt at using Spanish in one of those styles makes my ears bleed.

I hate most of rap music because it is so vulgar and I think it sends a bad message to young males. 

Most rap songs that I have heard in stores or people playing real loud in their cars talks about nasty stuff. A lot of rap lyrics include raping people, sexually assaulting people, killing people and have very very vulgar words in them. 

I think it is sending a mad message to the youth. If stats are right than 1 out of 4 young males do not believe that No means No and its okay to sexually assault. I think violent rap music is a big part of that. I also think its parents not being parents either.

Actually, I don't hate rap music. oO;; I know there are some people that don't consider rap to be music at all, and that's debatable, but I'm more or less neutral on that topic and I really think that the way "music" / "rap" is made really depends on each individual artist... Some people can make some incredibly amazing raps but there will still be people that won't think or even consider rap to be "music" just because it may not be set to a melody. Also, I know of some people that consider rap to be "inferior" to some other forms of art (well, they wouldn't even consider it art, I guess), just because it seems to them that a majority of rap songs tend to have obscenities in them, and they can't stand to listen to anything vulgar with curse words or explicit content and hints of violence in it (at least that's what some of them cited to me as examples, saying that's why they don't consider rap to be "musical").

This is a really, really vague question, but that's likely due in no small part to the absence of the opening post...

I don't hate any particular form of artistic expression. The problem with rap, or even pop, rock or any other kind of music is industrialization and mass production. You have to differentiate between art and product. Anything that anyone puts thought, time, labor and passion into is art. To anyone reading who is of the opinion that rap is the worst thing to happen since nuclear weapons, depending on what you've been exposed to, you might be right. And regardless, you're entitled to your opinion. It might not suit your tastes, and that's fine. We all have our preferences. But objectively speaking, almost anything has potential to be art, and should be appreciated for what it is. I'm not huge on most rap, myself. I can only name a few raps that I really like: Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise", Aesop Rock's "Kirby", "None Shall Pass" and "Rings".

I'm a pretty big fan of hip-hop from all over the spectrum, old-school, golden-age, new-school, abstract, etc.

Usually the stuff that turns me off are bad/generic/over-produced/soulless beats and excessive dirty rap lyrics. I can tolerate a pretty large amount of explicit content, but when it gets to the point where a song goes out of its way to be uncreatively offensive and make me feel gross, I'm not interested.

I definitely don't hate rap music, some of my favorite songs are rap songs. I typically prefer more old school rap because of the beats used as well as rap with more witty and clever lyrics (such as early Eminem). I don't mind the vulgarity as long as it is used to good effect. Like most people here though I don't particularly care for the mindless mass produced rap we see today.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.
