So I am thinking about getting the Nintendo Switch, but the problem is that I want to wait until the price is lower due to $300 for a phone or tablet being absurd to me.

I want to know if you guys are going to get it/already have it and what games you own.

Or will you wait for a bundle deal to pop up?

What do you guys think about the whole Nintendo thing?

I also do not forgive Nintendo for removing 2,000 games on this site. I would personally approve of people using a beta ticket or being a certified member in order to play them again...

There are several phones and tablets in the market which cost way more than $300, but probably the reason why people buy them it's because they have an apple logo or belong to an important company whose phones have a tendency to catch fire.

I personally would buy it, but I want more games to come out so I can justify acquiring it. Besides, I still must decide what to do with it because I'm not fond of the idea of getting rid of my Wii, just so much nostalgia in there, and I have no more room for newer consoles unless I can manage to have the Switch in the living room with the excuse that it's not the console itself but rather a "support platform".

Nintendo did the right thing with the Switch. They needed to innovate in order to get back on track with the market and defy Sony and Microsoft, but their latest attempts with the Wii and Wii U didn't turn out well. This time they go back to traditional controls, seemingly improved graphics and portability, which is in stark contrast with Sony and Microsoft developing big gadgets for an incredible one player experience. They offer something unique, and with the correct marketing and managing it can become one of the best selling Nintendo consoles.

The only thing I'd be against is the fact the Switch keeps the motion control from the Wii. I didn't really like the Wii because of that and it's the reason why I went to Sony (so I could use proper controllers), so seeing that some games will use that feature again makes me feel not so decided to buy it.

I preordered a Nintendo Switch and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I got the game yesterday, but the console still hasn't been delivered yet... It sounds like it won't come in the mail until the 6th. Some other people I know have tried to preorder one too, but everyone sold out. They still haven't been able to order one due to Nintendo's terrible handling of console launches. I still think Nintendo's taking a major step in the right direction with this new console/handheld hybrid, but people are better off waiting until Nintendo gets their act together in regards to getting Switches in stock.

The 3DS at launch was $249

The 3DS wasn't too good for me. I even waited til it was $80 and the library had a lot of stuff. Still not too pleased.

I did not buy the Wii U, meaning the next thing to do is get the Switch.

I am interested in every console because I am interested in the software being sold for that console. I will buy the Switch once I can afford it.

And please, everyone, let's avoid console wars. Console wars are absolutely retarded.

One of my 3 phones costs over $800 and I still got it anyway.

Not to mention that most consoles cost around that much or much more when they are released.

I got mine already and was able to pay for it all with Christmas gift cards, though I won't actually be able to hook it up to a TV until I move out so it will only be mobile for me.

If anything, Nintendo is the best of all when it comes to console launch pricing.

I'm probably not going to get the switch simply because I already have a Playstation 4 and a Wii U. I just don't really need another console right now. Maybe I will get one when the price drops a little bit, but certainly not in the near future. Also, I'm seeing a few people here that pre ordered the console. I would never pre-order anything let alone the Switch. My friend pre ordered No Man's Sky and look what happened there. Just seems really risky to me.

I pre-ordered it on the very first days of January with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I claimed it yesterday, then played the game for five hours to celebrate that moment before going to bed. I have to say that I kept my own opinion on that system in spite of what some said on the internet. I really wanted to get a Nintendo Switch and that new Legend of Zelda game and God knows how obstinate I am.

The system costs around 300 euros (I'm using my currency: convert if you dare, I'm too lazy), depending on where you bought it. I preferred buying it at a store, they guaranteed to get one for me in exchange of a payment on account of 30 euros that they removed from the initial price when I went to the shop to get the Nintendo Switch. The game costs 70 euros. And I got for pre-ordering all that stuff a free nice key chain in its black velvet bag.

Disappointed by all this? Not at all.

You guys are right, I should get one.

Though, I will wait at least a week before considering buying one, as many consoles at day-one launch tend to have issues in performance and other problems that may lead to me returning the whole thing if I get it.

Also, saving up my Viz and real money for the console and games (if they are added to the market that is) and also waiting to see if I can get a bundle because if I am going to spend all of my money on a console it better have some games on it am I right or what?

I will not buy ANYTHING Nintendo. Nintendo once was a champion, unafraid to take a risk, and knew how to put out good products. They have forgotten that for the most part and they are too busy bilking people and suing people to care about the few fans they have left.

But this is not about Nintendo. It is about the Switch. And no,I do not want it. The screen is cheap, the connectors suck, and like the title said,it is basically a 300 dollar tablet with limited functionality.

Strikes against it.
1. It just came out. New systems are notorious for having issues. And there are only a few games available for it.

2. It is basically a glorified tablet with limited ability.

3. You have to pay to go online with this thing?

4. It seems to be cheaply made.

5. You can get a cell phone for this price and be able to do more and play more.

Guys, new update about the SD cards. Apparently, someone put a 128gb SD card into their Switch and it got so hot that it almost melted. I may be waiting for another update to come before even thinking about purchasing then.

Despite the previous article I made when the Switch was first revealed I've been quite underwhelmed by it so far. I don't hate the concept but the launch and console in general seems very sloppily executed. There's reports of the dock scratching the portable screen (not after long time use but from the first few times of using it). The charging port was put on the bottom which is just a dumb design decision and in general the bugs and launch the console has had is reminiscent of the Xbox 360 launch... If not worse. The controller does not feel ergonomic at all in my opinion (was able to try it at a convention) the memory limit is pretty bad and the whole console seems kind of cheaply produced in the sense that we might see a lot of people having problems 1 or 2 years down the line.

Paid online is also something I've become more against since it was revealed. I understand why they did it but with the Switch not yet having the promise of the huge online multiplayer library that you get on the XB1 and PS4 it's risky. In particular when it pretty much ruins the chance of people getting it as a secondary system for Smash, Mario Kart etc. It puts them in direct competition with them which is the thing they should be avoiding. It reduced the already low chances of me getting it. Just about the only thing that could persuade me to get it now is if they made a spiritual successor to Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness but that's wishful thinking on my part more than it is an actual possibility.

TL;DR I would advise against getting it unless Nintendo 1st party games is the only thing you care about. Even if that is the case I would suggest waiting until its been out a while and they hopefully release a new iteraiton of the console that fixes some of the issues of the launch version. If you already own a Wii U then I don't see much reason to why you shouldn't wait.

Zlinqx : Me and you both. I want another visit to Orre to take out what remains of Cipher.

Anyway, I am interested in getting it, mainly for Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2. If there's other games in the future which interest me, I might also get them. But for now, I'm kinda on the fence.

The Switch is a missed opportunity for Nintendo. They could have absolutely crushed it this gen, but they went with this.

Now the Switch itself makes for an awesome handheld idea, but DO NOT try to sell this as a console, Nintendo. You're shooting yourself in the foot. As a handheld it would be a no brainer for most people, but as a console, and trying to compete as a console... it falls so short. We heard of so many ports and possibilities at first and now what we get is several devs passing it by already because it just isn't strong enough for console games, just like Wii U.

Now again, as a handheld the Switch could dominate. It has a lot of potential. But as a console, unless all you care about is Nintendo's first party titles, then pass on it because your experience will be disappointing at best.

I held out hope for the Switch still, despite my initial feeling of being underwhelmed. I did. And I still haven't completely written it off, just to be fair. But man... I'm just not seeing anything yet. It's not the worst as a console, but it isn't even close to first or earning a spot alongside most people's PlayStation or Xbox -- mine included. I'll give it a while longer still, I mean it's just launched, so it could really take off. So far though all I've heard is Super Mario Oddessy and Breath of The Wild. This is why it feels like the Wii U all over again to me. I mean it undeniably has a good game in Breath of The Wild, and Super Mario Oddessy looks like it might be really good, but then isn't that where the Wii U was? one to two good games a year?

And that subscription service: one free game a month...and you lose the game at the end of the month, even if you have another eleven months of subscription time left. What is with that? I pay for this service and an incentive is a glorified demo? That's worse than no free game to me, as it's a bit of a slap in the face.

So yeah, I have much better hopes for the Switch than I did for the Wii U, but even so, I have low expectations for it. I'm expecting it to be a system for a good first party title once a year, and sometimes twice. It's a step in the right direction, but compared to what it should have been, that step is a baby one. Pass.

I'm expecting it to be a system for a good first party title once a year, and sometimes twice. It's a step in the right direction, but compared to what it should have been, that step is a baby one. Pass.

The only way I would actually spend that much on buying the switch is if one of two things happened
1. The main Pokemon game gets released on it, and not just a spin-off
2. It starts getting a lot of good RPGs
Even still, I would probably buy a 3DS before I would a switch because it's cheaper and has two Pokemon games on it already. plus it has a lot of other good games on it as well, and overall, I think that the games are just better.

Even though there's SO MANY COOL GAMES coming out, I'm still going to wait for a sale or a price drop for the Switch. $300 is a lot of money to throw at a console like that. I would wait for at least $250 or something around that.

I won't be getting a Nintendo switch simply because I'm not much of a fan of Nintendo at all. Plus the console looks cheaply made.... I'd get one when they become dirt cheap but I'd much rather stick with the other consoles and the PC I own any day.

I also feel as the controllers are way too small. So I think I'd struggle to use them very well especially as someone who dislocated and broken most of his fingers and thumbs at some point... my fingers are not as flexible as they used to be and I am not willing to simply buy the better controller just because Nintendo yet again wanted to go with a gimmick instead of actual usability....

Finally is the charging cable still on the bottom of the console.. So that you can't even stand it still... if so... well another things that's awfully designed...

I will say however to those that do enjoy Nintendo games a lot and like Nintendo as a whole I really hope this console turns out to get the support it needs... I don't want you all to suffer from the meager library that the Wii U had after all

At first I was skeptical about it, I wasn't too sure about getting one. I looked at reviews online, they were mixed, mainly positive.

Then they released news about super Mario odyssey. That game alone has made me want to get the switch since I first saw the release trailer. The game looks fantastic, and I need to play it.

Even after that, $300 was pricy, but less than PS4 and xbox1, so I did consider. I then played one that one of my friends had gotten, and I fell in love with it. The screen is smal, but it has good quality. The controllers are small, but they work, and I take no issue with small controllers as long as I like them. I played the Mario kart game, I liked it.

As soon as one is available near me, I am going to go out and buy one- I'm just not too sure that'll be soon.

For me, the Switch was no question whatsoever. From the moment that I saw the original trailer in November last year, I knew that nintendo had finally made the console that I wanted for so long, it was a portable home console. I can take it wherever i want, play it on the tv AND have all my favorite games.

I really don't get the concept that it's little more than a tablet, sure the main body looks like a tablet, but it works and feels nothing like one. It is a very flexible home console that allows you to enjoy your games almost anyway you choose. After work just before midnight launch, I made a beeline for best buy. I was so excited to finally experience a console launch. Not only that, but I was sure that this was going to be an awesome one.

As far as the games I have for it: (deep breath)

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Snipperclips, Arms, FastRmx, MarioKart 8 Deluxe, Cave Story +, Snake Pass, Implosion, Gonner, Bulb Boy, Oceanhorn: Monster of uncharted waters, Graceful Explosion Machine

Already Preordered and paid for:
Sonic Mania CE and Super mario oddesy.

I'm also really excited for Metroid Prime 4 (yes even though I only saw a logo!)

When the console was announced I was cautiously optimistic, but now that I've owned it for a few months, I'm very happy with the console overall and the price point was perfect. 300$ is not a lot of money for a console/electronic device like this.

It's versatility is unrivaled with these types of games. I love the ability to not only play on my large TV, but to also take it with me and play portable. It's great to be able to continue my Breath of the Wild game while I'm on the go, or if my girlfriend wants to watch something on the main TV!

With the slate of first party titles already announced for later this year/early 2018 I'm super excited for the future of the console.

I would buy a Nintendo Switch later when more games are released, but that would only be if I sold my Wii U. After getting 10 dollars from selling my Wii to GameStop, I don't feel like selling any of my games/consoles again. I can just be nice and give them to others for free like I did with my DS!

The only games I would want if I bought a Switch are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey. I find it silly to buy a console now just for 2 games, one being an upgrade for the one I already have.

I think Nintendo made the right decision to move on from the Wii U so quickly and create something different. I hope this profits them more than the Wii U did because it looks like it will earn that.
