Have you ever tried (or even succeeded) at solving a Rubix cube? Those things can be so frustrating. But I got one for Christmas that I just solved as I was making this thread in less than a minute because it isn't an ordinary Rubix cube with all the colors. It has logos instead that look very different from each other.

I've never solved a real Rubix cube though. I've tried (not very much ) and got nowhere. To this day I have no idea where the Rubix cube is in our house since no one has even tried to solve it. I don't even know if we still have it anymore. Maybe someone smashed it or threw it away or gave it away to the smartest person they know

No but in my defense ,I don't think I have tried doing so since I was still in primary school as I've never owned one nor does anyone in my family seem to. For some reason despite my otherwise poor memory, I do remember never even getting close to solving it, the one time I did attempt to while at a friend of my mom's house which frustrated me

Oh yeah, I've tried. Never have succeeded legitamately and probably never will. I took the stickers off and replaced them and they weren't aligned haha.

Zlinqx : The frustration of the Rubix cube is hard to forget At least you were willing to try it, I don't think I would be anymore.

Lexatom : Oh wow. I never took the stickers off because I knew that would be a terrible idea.

I have been able to before but that was when I was reading the instructions on how. I can't do it on my own, but thanks to the instructions, I have the plan ingrained in my head on how to solve one side from any position in under 30 seconds.

zanderlex : I didn't know they came with instructions If I thought of looking up instructions I might have been more motivated to try solving one. Maybe someone will give me a real one eventually!

I have. However, I've never succeeded at solving one. I think the most I've ever done on my own is 3 sides?

I've tried before, usually while I couldn't sleep. It didn't help me sleep any, instead I was just glued to the puzzle for a long time before I got around to actually going to bed.

I've never solved one, I've only really done like 1 side at a time.

Pacman+Mariofan : it,s actually been quit a while since I played Rubix cube but whenever I tried to complete it I could never get past 2 colors even though I have the book on how to solve it I just never took the time to read the book but I was just wondering if anyone ever heard of Rubix game? it,s similar to Rubix cube but uses a whole bunch of small white pegs that are put on the cube which does not have any stickers instead the cube has 9 holes for each color to put the pegs on I still have the game but haven,t played it for a long time so unfortunately I don,t remember what the object of the game is

Ooh actually I have. A couple times.  What I found is that you don't solve a cube by sides, but by it's layers. Like you pick the white side, and solve it, making sure the edges second and third colors also match(say how a corner can be white, green, and red, they would need to be on the appropriate corners) And this solves the first layer. From here a lot of people try to pick a different color, and sole that and repeat until it's complete, but that's not what we want to do. Instead we orient the cube so that the color we solved is on bottom, and solve by layers going up.

In a nutshell that's how you do it, of course there's more details and even specific algorithms, but how wasn't the question, I just wanted to share my knowledge.

Hope you all had a nice Christmas/New years by the way..

I do have a Rubik's cube, I have solved some basic situations with them, then I tried more complex situations to see if my intellectual uncle can solve them, but since the last time, I got stuck. Since then, I haven't even had the time to practice with it. So, yeah, I have solved a Rubik's cube before.

It's difficult but not impossible.

I myself have only solved a cube once before and that was long ago, I still keep the 3x3 on my desk and look at it sometimes. The Rubik's cube may look hard at first, but with some practice, can be solved.

thing1 : 3 sides is still good in my opinion.

yoshirulez! : That's what happens to me when I try to read a book before going to bed. I get so curious about how the events will go that I keep reading the book for a while when I'm supposed to be sleeping.

no 8120 : The Rubix game sounds cool. I haven't heard of it but hopefully more users here have.

chaseM : That explains why I saw someone solving a Rubix cube like that before, I wasn't sure what the strategy was but he didn't do it the way most people I know attempt it.

Eniitan : I'd definitely feel the same way, if I did it once I'd never try it again because all that frustration and effort would be a chore to repeat.

Oldschool777 : Exactly, people would call you a cheater if you did that but if the instructions don't mention it, it isn't against the rules XD

Pacman+Mariofan : Yeah the sheer difficulty it gave to me was a real annoyance....but, having it once is better than nothing really. I mean if other people want to do it more than once its up to them.

I've tried solving one a couple of times, but I could never manage to get more than two sides. I never looked up any of the math or certain techniques or anything, but I did get an old book on the subject free a long time ago. Only problem is it read like Greek.

I almost always have a Rubik's cube with me. mind you, I haven't recently because I lost mine and am waiting for my lovely new speed cube to come in the mail, But with my old cube, I could easily solve it in under a minute, with my record being roughly 30 seconds. I'm not the best, but its a great party trick!
