I used the keyword 'Facebook' because i want to tell a bit what i have experienced and will ask something as well.

I see a lot of dramatic and horrifying video's passing by on Facebook. I don't know if it's allowed to give slightly more details in this, but i've seen a video how chicken nuggets were made. (You don't want to know that. ) I've seen an article (shared on Facebook) about a man who did horrible stuff to a girl and her father seeks revenge very hardly by making him total loss. Literally. I've seen a video about poodles having a lot of colors to represent a police cop, the Earth, wild animals, etc.. (I'm calling that out because most people who saw this were furious. I agree with them) I think it's okay for Facebook to set the minimum age to 13, but with these articles, video's, etc. around, it can be 16+ very quickly. Plus i see some inappropriate groups passing by a lot as well. I think that 13+ isn't a nice number for a minimum age on Facebook, looking at all that stuff.

What do you think? What could be good for Facebook? Will it stay safe for younger people below 16?

MarioLucarioFan64 : Perhaps Facebook should have age restriction. Also, they should have content warnings for slightly disturbing video content.

I don't go on facebook because it's just full of undesirable things, such as many things you've stated.

Oh and lets not forget the overuse of minions in seemingly unfitting places. I hate that the most.

Another thing is that facebook videos autoplay when you scroll to them, and I hate that as well. I don't think it should be age restricted, I think kids should just find a better place to go to.

Yeah, facebook is full of undesirable things. I myself don't go much on it, but I always check it up daily to see if any friend is up to something (facebook is the only form of contact I have with most of them anyway).

It's very easy to bypass an age restriction, even more in a site like facebook, so it would solve nothing. All you'd need to do is be very careful of the pages you like, the friends you make and what pages you're shown that you haven't liked (these are the ones which tend to show the worst content). You're not guaranteed to be safe even when following this, but disturbances will reduce to a minimum.

Dude, like Change the title thread or something XD.

This thing just reads"I'm quitting vizzed" (well that's the impression that It gave me with the title at least)

Anywho, I just don't even bother with the nonsense on facebook; Heh, I hardly even  log in because there's really nothing on there I like doing.

Half of the time Facebook is full of drama and pure Notification spam.

At least on Twitter, if someone or something is bothering you; you can always block them from your page.

MarioLucarioFan64 : I myself never go to face book but there are a lot of bad videos on u tube as well, whenever I come across any bad videos I never watch them in fact in my opinion the best thing for people to do if they don,t want to see these kind of videos is simply to avoid them altogether, having an age restriction probably won,t help because anyone wanting to watch these videos will probably always find a way to see them

I agree. I remember a couple of years ago there was this video going around on facebook of a man cutting off his girlfriend's head because she had been cheating. Didn't really help that facebook has this annoying autoplay feature. That was how a friend of mine saw it .
Luckily i've never had that.

Also, twitter is pretty bad as well. Like they need to fix those nude accounts its really annoying.

the best thing to do is leave facebook, it has shown to be nothing but a business plan. it no longer value its customers and its just keeps trying to do new uninteresting things. so leaving will not do anything bad for you.

I think it really comes down to whether a parent wants their kid to see what's online by what ever age they're at. I mean if you're letting a 9 year old get online alone, or even some times while watching over them, they're bound to come across some thing they probably shouldn't see ( at least that's how my own personal experience was lol ). You'd be amazed how many kids know what pr0n is because of how easily bypassed Child Locks and / or Filters are.

I understand it applies to more than just that, but I'm sure the point gets across. If you think 13 isn't old enough for a kid to see these kinds of things, then ( you can try to ) keep them away from the Internet.

I would like to think just about every thing you see on Facebook could, or at least should, easily be handled by a 13 year old, but that's just me.

MarioLucarioFan64 : Facebook will never be safe. No matter what they do, the amount of users is in my opinion uncontrollable.
In my case, I block everything like that and hide all those posts, I follow very very few people that I friend and I only friend trustworthy people and I don't frequently send friend requests at all. To me that's the only way to clean out that junk in Facebook but, considering these kids are obsessed with being "famous" and "accepted" they befriend anyone so it makes it hard to have a clean newsfeed and decrease the amount of obscene videos that pop up.

Cox is right (in fact, I would hit the like button if it wasn't broken with this Linux distro), age restrictions on websites aren't really going to change anything. I fibbed about my age on Adventure Quest Worlds, Kongregate, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, even here. Though, I had my age corrected here a couple years ago. If your kid hasn't built up much of a resistence to toxicity, they're not ready for the Internet. At the same time though, too much sheltering can have a negative effect.
