I've had a lot of users suggest it so I'm finally going to be getting around to starting up a Patreon page for Vizzed sometime in the near future. For those who don't know what Patreon is, it's a website that allows people to pledge a certain amount to you every month and usually it involves offering rewards depending on the tier level of their pledge; that's what this thread is about, what you guys think would be good tier level rewards.


$2 a Month
-Access to a Patron Exclusive forum
-All RGR Games Cost 0 Viz
-All Ads Removed

$5 a Month
-Access to All RGR Games (including PS1 games and beta ticket exclusive games)
-Added to my Vizzed friends list, Skype, Xbox Live and/or Steam (permanently)
-Earn 1.25x more Viz for everything you do *
-All Previous Rewards

$10 a Month
-Access to Almost All Site Features (all the features that require special items)
-All of your Private Messages are prioritized (I'll make sure to get to them within 24-48 hours)
-Earn 1.5x more Viz for everything you do *
-All Previous Rewards

$25 a Month
-You get to have some input on what features I invest my time into
-Promoted to Vizzed Elite if you're not already (you get to permanently keep it if you do this tier for at least 1 year)
-Earn 1.75x more Viz for everything you do *
-All Previous Rewards

$50 a Month
-1 undivided hour of my time a month (spent in any way that you want)
-Ability to change your username color whenever you want as often as you want (your final color is permanent if you do this tier for at least 1 year)
-Earn 2x more Viz for everything you do *
-All Previous Rewards

$100 a Month
-I'll invest 10 hours a month toward any feature that you request (either a new feature or a current feature)
-Ability to change your username border color whenever you want as often as you want (your final color is permanent if you do this tier for at least 1 year)
-Ability to change your username whenever you want as often as you want for 0 Viz (no more than once per a day)
-All Previous Rewards


*The multipliers from these rewards would be added to the current multipliers that users already have based on their CP total. So if a user already has a 1.5 multiplier on Vizzed, the $10 a Month tier would turn that into a 2x multiplier.

All rewards would only be active while the user is an active patron (unless stated otherwise).


If anyone has any ideas on rewards I should add, be sure to let me know. I wanted to make the rewards as worthwhile as possible as a way to encourage users to become a Patron in some form. Most of these would be automated which means that once you become a Patron of a certain tier, I'd add the privileges to your user account (and remove them once you were no longer a patron).

I love this idea right off the bat, I think I remember talking about this too before so I'm all for it. If I'm able to help out, I might pledge for some of the better levels a couple months out of the year.

Here's one idea though, instead of a multiplier, I think some rewards should also come with a Viz base because not everyone would get the same amount from the multiplier, so maybe 5000 a month for one of the levels.

zanderlex : The reason I thought a multiplier would work better is because it not only gives a user more incentive to contribute but it also offers a user something that they can't get from just donating. A user can already get a set amount of Viz from donating so doing a Viz multiplier seemed like a great way to make these tiers more worth it.

An increased Viz multiplier would pay out more than a set amount of Viz anyway. For example, if a user visits the site every day, they get 100 Viz * 30 days = 3000 Viz per a month. With the 1.5 multiplier, they'd get 4500 Viz instead so right there they'd be getting an extra 1500 Viz a month and that's just 1 of many actions that most users do every day.

This is definitely a great idea. Just some suggestions...

I think the Vizzed elite status should NOT be permanent until someone has at least been a $25 a month patron for a certain amount of time. I'm suggesting Vizzed Elite status can be permanent after staying as a $25 patron or more for at least one year. 

I think a similar thing should apply for custom username colors as well. So if a $50+ patron with a custom username color is no longer a patron but have been a $50 a month patron for one year, you get to keep your current custom username color but you can no longer change it anymore. If not, you change back to your original/normal username color.

Another suggestion is that if a user has been a $25+ patron for one year, they have the option to get their own rented forum. Perhaps there can also be other rewards like raffle tickets. 

I'll post again if I have more ideas that might help.

Mohammedroxx3 : Instead of having it be $25 a month for a year, what about picking a set amount that you become elite after, and once you hit that threshold, you become elite, regardless of what tier you are? Like $25 a month for a year would be $300, so someone donating 10 a month for 30 months should also be able to get it maybe?

zanderlex : That sounds like a fair idea and it might be better.

The only thing is that David has to pay monthly bills and stuff like that (right?). So it might be better to have more money every month to help him pay his bills instead of a much smaller amount of money every month for a longer time.

So if someone was a $2 a month patron for a billion years, I don't think that will help David pay his monthly bills by much, although it's still technically a lot of money over time. (unless so many people were also patrons as well at the same time)

I think the idea here is that David needs help with his current situation (paying bills, buying meals... etc). $2 a month for 10 years might not help much due to his monthly bills compared to $100 a month for a year. Regardless, any amount (even a penny) is still helpful. So I'm not quite sure. But that's for David to decide.

Mohammedroxx3 : With that reward avaiable to people for less, more people could potentially get it. Instead of just a couple people being able to afford the $25 level, a bunch more would be able to afford the $10 and would have more of a reason to upgrade from a lower number to 10. Someone who's not pledging or pledging a little and can't pledge 25 would be more intrigued to pledge 10.

Don't look at it as someone pledging $2 for a billion years. Maybe look at it as 100 people who can't afford 25 a month in the first place pledging $2 a month, 100 people who cant afford 25, who have an even bigger reason to pledge 2.

Would $2 a month in pledges amount to more money than the average user's views amount to in ad revenue? If not, I would move total ad removal for a user to the $5 level.

Mohammedroxx3 : Good thinking regarding the Elite status. Instead I'll make it so that the Elite status only lasts as long as you're a Patron and it'll be removed as soon as you're no longer a patron (unless of course you previously already had it or if you were a patron of that tier for more than a year). Good idea regarding the $50 a month tier. I think both of these ideas would encourage someone to be a Patron longer.

The Rented Forum thing I'd rather sell for Viz in the Marketplace.

zanderlex : Mohammedroxx3 has a good point. I'd rather encourage users to pledge more since the money would come in handy sooner rather than later. 1 or 2 years from now I might not even be struggling financially any more. It'd also mean I'd have to keep track of more stuff.

I vaguely remember this idea being suggested, and I think it's a good leap forward to boost donations, even if it's just a small bit.

I'm not very fond of the ability to change color usernames or freely changing names. If a patron with access to that tier's privileges is active enough it could get very annoying. I'm not sure if removing those abilities would make the offer attractive enough, but I cannot come up with any successful replacement right now, so I guess I'll have to deal with it.

I totally agree with the changes being made to attain Elite status. I was writing a reply for that, but I accidentally clicked elsewhere and had to reload, just to see I got sniped by the edit

I'm lately taking job hunting very seriously, so I'd be more than happy to get the $50 a month tier. I already have a few things that could be addressed but are on the bottom of the site's priorities. I'm looking forward to the creation of this page and see if I can make any use of it.

Consider myself going for at least $50 or $100 dollars. This is very cool and I'll be sure to support you once it's done.

m0ssb3rg935 : Definitely. I make less than a half cent per a visitor per a day. That number is a little higher for active users since they view more pages but lets say an active user only earns the site 2 cents per a day from their ad views, that's only $0.60 a month so $2 is way more than that.


EX Palen : It's very unlikely that many will do the $50 tier (and the $100 is even less likely) but if anyone does, I think they deserve it. If someone does the $50 for an entire year, that's $600 from that 1 user which would be a massive contribution and they would more than deserve the ability to change their username color.

YES! Thank you David! I've told you before, but I usually get $50 cards per month as an allowance. I can see about giving you all of those. Assuming I can keep changing my credit card info with Patreon.

Wonderful idea, I hope it makes people to donate more easily. If I example donate 2 dollars per month do I also get 2,000 Viz per month?

Cactuar : You wouldn't get Viz in the way you would from a donation. I wanted this to be different enough from a donation so I've made the rewards completely different. If someone wants Viz and CP for their financial contributions then they'd be better off donating.

Coming in the spring I will definitely do the $50 a month (as I will have a better job) as for right now, I will probably be sticking with donating through normal donation features.

The Viz would add up based on the multipliers that you get, so it would actually turn out much more than donating (if you do enough, and people who would be using this service I feel would be those who are very active)

Also a lot more advantages than donating so :3

Here are some additional ideas:
- Give Patreons a highlighted background in memberlist or at least make it sortable by patreons and donations.
- Give Patreons a banner like in TDV so their name stands out to show they are "special" users lol.
- Allow people to become a Patreon with Viz except instead of a Viz multiplier it would be a CP multiplier.
- Patreon stats page that shows which levels they have pledged, how long they have pledged, how much extra Viz they earned while pledging per month, how much money they pledged altogether etc.. .
- Maybe add a Patreon / Pledger of the Year award for the Vizzed Awards that would be based on total pledged or something.
- Make badges and certain item shop products only available to Patreons.

I think the more features you offer these Patreons the better. In fact, I think maybe you should start restricting certain features and make them exclusive for pledgers only such as the trust point system, profile and post layouts, sending Viz to others... simple things like that could make all the difference.

For the $100 tier, would it be possible to have more added to the RGR?
Like, expand beyond what current emulators we have and add more dedicated emulators for currently non-working systems?

Another suggestion... For $100+ patrons, they would also be allowed to change the bottom and top underline colors in their names.

So if they're an elite (which they will automatically be if they're not elite+ already), they can change the color of the bottom underline. If they're already site staff+, they can also change both the top/bottom underline colors in their name.

And both the name and the underline(s) can have different colors. I know this is such a minor suggestion, but it can actually make a decent difference regardless. A few people might just be a $100+ patron instead of a $50+ patron if they can easily afford it because of this. 

Another suggestion is that each tier can have a certain amount of monthly Viz paid every month, and that amount of monthly Viz will increase every month. (amounts depend on tier level) 

For example...

A $2 a month tier will have no monthly Viz.

A $5 a month tier will have a monthly Viz of 10,000 Viz, but it won't increase every month.

A $10 a month tier will have a monthly Viz of 25,000 Viz, and it will increase every month by 250 Viz.

A $25 a month tier will have a monthly Viz of 50,000 Viz, and it will increase every month by 1000 Viz.

A $50 a month tier will have a monthly Viz of 250,000 Viz and it will increase every month by 5000 Viz. 

A $100 a month tier will have a monthly Viz of 1,000,000 Viz and it will increase every month by 500,000 Viz. 

This might just motivate so many users to go for the $100 a month tier lol. It's crazy but it's very worth it to help Davideo7's situation. Maybe you should even award a billion Viz for the $100 a month tier. XD

EDIT: I forgot... Someone might just cancel or quit the $100 a month tier as soon as they get the million Viz or so... Maybe the Viz should be revoked if they haven't been a tier long enough. 

VizzedFan2016 : Lots of interesting ideas.

I like the banner idea but I wouldn't want it to interfere with the Tour de Vizzed banners so maybe I could have a special icon next to their name instead.

A stats page sounds like a lot of work but would be a lot of fun.


Vanelan : If it required RGR Plugin enhancements then $100 wouldn't cover it since I have to pay Tom and he charges a lot. I should also mention that he apparently lost the source code for the latest version and the last one he had uploaded was I think version 2.25. This pretty much means that the RGR Plugin may not see any more updates.


Mohammedroxx3 : I can look into making the border color changing possible.

I think awarding out that much Viz would destroy the value of Viz. Also, giving Patrons Viz I think would make donating useless.
