Life can be amazing at times. You can make a lot of money, accomplish great things, be really happy, etc. However, life can be just as equally, if not more cruel. At any given moment and time, things can turn, a natural disaster might destroy your home, a serious sickness might ultimately defeat a loved one, or you lose all the hard earned money you once had. If you were to lose everything, whether that be property, money, family, or something else, what would you do? How would you go about rebuilding (if property or money was lost)? How would you deal with losing everyone or everything you loved and cared about? It'd be a tough, long process, and not everyone will be able to rebuild. Do you think you'll be able to? |

RDay13 : It would be a very hard thing to do. But, you would have to start somewhere to rebuild your life once again. Any family members that have died or friends that were there for you. Wouldn't want you to keep on being in deep depression from that see? I'm not saying its an easy thing to come out from. If you see one way through it, and think about what they want you to do instead of killing yourself they would want you to try and reform, and rebuild your life to a far more better one. And to achieve a lot more than the ones you have lost. Not many people can recover from that, this would make them sick, and even to die from such depression from losing everything they once had. :/ |

If I lost all my money, I'd probably visit a shelter first. Secondly, I'd temporarily move to Thailand. I'd want to join the monks so I can efficiently defend myself and heighten my spirituality. I'd try to get a job to regain my income, and donate to charity. Helping others is what I do. |

There's a saying, "Nature is neither cruel nor kind, but indifferent," and I'm a fan of that saying. I also try to practice stoicism as much as possible and the study of that philosophy would help me if I lost everything.
And everything is a lot. I have a large social network of friends in many different places, most of whom I would bet are willing to help me if I need help. If my house was destroyed, I'd set up a way to find shelter and I would find the means to travel to that location to be set up. After that, food and water, however that looks and I'd be set to continue with my life. If it's something different, say my wife and kid both drown at swim lessons today for some reason, I'd have my younger daughter with me and I'd ask for emotional support from the extended families of both sides. They'd set up childwatch, they'd help me get through the next months while I figure out how bills get paid and how to do the every day activities with my teammate. I'd worry about grieving after my kid is back in a good position. If it's a natural disaster and we can't go anywhere, I'd band together with the neighborhood since everyone on the block knows each other and we generally get along. We'd compile our resources and skills and see what structures were livable and we'd find a way to get along together long enough to either get out or rebuild. I'm resourceful, I'm positive, I'm smart, I'm strong, and I'm patient enough to get through almost anything. I don't know how I'd continue on without my wife but I'd find away because other people rely on me. I'd use that to find the strength to carry on. And as the other saying goes, "This too shall pass." I'd probably sink to depression, and do whatever I could to make money until I could do whatever I could to rebuild my life. Of course, family is ir |

Honestly it's easy to be optimistic when you're not in that situation but I think it's a very different story were I actually to be put into it. if I lost absolutely everything like my family, academic progress, financial stability etc. I'd probably sink into depression. I'd likely start clinging to some sort of escape into another reality, like games, specifically mmos and even vizzed were for me in the past and try to immerse myself completely into that if I could. It would mean I'd likely not make much progress but it would likely also help keep me from becoming suicidal. If not I would like to think that I'd do my best and eventually start working towards rebuilding everything but if it got that bad I'm not sure how much will I'd have to fight anymore. I don't have a faith I can cling to for support being an Atheist, and I'm pretty sure unless I'm to be physically brainwashed that isn't going to change as I've been very set in that belief ever since I first adapted it years ago. I guess eventually I'd try to get out of it but I'm not sure how long that would take. Now if it was just one particular thing I'd probably try to cope with it by taking everything one day at a time and trying to tell myself that anything is still possible. Gradually trying to get back what I lost. If it's not something that can be Regardless of what happened every step forward I take I'd be doing to honor their memory almost as much as I'd be doing it for myself and that knowledge would hopefully help me keep going. We actually lost a lot back in '09 and '10 when my mom was laid off due to the economy (the company later went bankrupt), my dad couldn't work because the flood in Nashville killed our car, the minivan was repo'd, mom's unemployment ran out, we were denied foodstamps, ran out of pennies to roll for rent and then we were finally evicted and left a whole lot of our stuff behind. If it weren't for our now late grandmother who let us stay in her house rent free, we would've been living under a bridge. It's far from everything, but I think we can call that a heaping dose of reality, especially for a 14, 12 and 10 year old. I believe I would be able to make it work if something really really unfortunate happens. When the pressure's on, it triggers this preservation instinct or something in me and I just go into damage control mode. Like a survival auto-pilot. Really, as long as there's breath in my lungs, I can make it work. As the Marines say: pain is weakness leaving the body. |

RDay13 : Oh my gosh. Lose everything. Everything that I care about. As devastating as that may be, it would mean that I would have nothing to lose. I would then have the freedom to restructure my life on my absolute whim with no commitments left to walk away from. That would be beautiful and terrifying. I would embrace the new experience and try not to grieve for my losses so much until I gained back a better life again. I haven't dropped to my lowest in over a decade and even then I had my annoying parents to count on. Yes. They love me and would not have thrown me out in the cold. They threw my brother out in the winter last year, I heard. He was befouling their house by refusing to shower. Luckily, I never had that foul an attitude. I would be fine. I am capable of closing myself off to others and certain emotions so if I lost any loved ones I would attempt to close myself off. As for losing anything material, I still think I would be fine as my current lifestyle isn't one I enjoy and have several times confined with my friend that I simply want to live in the countryside of Europe somewhere and live the simple life. Its just a matter of actually getting it done. |

People may not like my answer at all and if the mods wish to remove it,I completely understand. I would put a gun in my mouth and blow my brains out. Now people can hate my answer, hate how I would handle it,or call me a coward. But let us be real for a second,if you lost your job, your home, your car, your family, you are not going to last long. |
