I just had an idea of this thread come to mind. Have you ever when buying something from the store or online to hide any stash of chocolate or sweets? For instance me I would hide mine in my drawer or just put it somewhere that is not seen. I like to share, but I also like to have certain chocolates for myself its not really being greedy or selfish since my siblings are not really at home to eat it with me. And I know how my mother can be so I make sure she doesn't see what I get. When done, I dispose of the evidence before she sees it. I did say at times she catches me, but its a headache having to hear her complain about it. So I decided to go ninja wise with when I want to get any chocolates. Its not always I do this it could be sometimes or occasionally. Do you do this? And if so where do you hide them?

Me and my sister have a problem with chocolate. Whenever I buy some and leave it in the pantry/counter she helps herself to about half of it. So I had to figure out a place to hide it.

Eventually I found the Holy Grail: An old carry-on within arms reach of my table. There's nothing in there but an old Sega Dreamcast......until now. I wrap up the chocolate in foil, put it in the carry-on, and bam, she has no idea where it is!

For now, that is.

I hide my sweets and junk food that my parents don't want me to have under the bed (don't tell my parents!) :p. When I want to eat some I make sure that none of my parents can walk in on me and then I indulge myself xp.

When they catch me, my dad is just like "eh whatever" and my mom gives me less junk food for a few days. My mom also complains before that but I've heard her complain about me so much that I just space out while she's complaining. I don't like it when she complains, but I just ignore it xp.

IStillSeeTheX : Oh sorry to hear about that, but it is really good to hear that you found a way to hide it from her. I do commend you for that idea its always great to come up with creative ideas to hide things from your siblings when needed.

ZeeTee : Oh wow we are so similar see this is why you are like my little sister. My mother does just that so you know my pain. XD

I myself have been trying to stay away from junk food a bit, but I do have some candy. I got a big bucket of Red Vine licorice and I have some Peanut Butter M&M's like one of them huge bags, and a huge bag of Swedish Fish that I got for my birthday. They have lasted this long, because I only eat a little here and there. I been trying to make healthier choices while eating and while I ruined that a bit this week, I don't think 2 or 3 days will hurt lol. I just need to get back to eating healthier this week, and so on.

As for having my candy stashed, I don't really have it hidden, I just have it put away, although the bucket of licorice is on the desk next to me, I pretty much leave it alone.

HeavyMetalGamer : I see.....I'm not really into sweets so much I'm more of a chocolate person. I know its not healthy its just something we like to tend to eat once in a while or when we get too. Because when that happens you won't be able to have something of that in a very long time. I see so I think in a way it would be easier for you of how it is instead of hiding it.

Eniitan : Yeah I think in small doses it's always nice. It was hot around here the last 4 or 5 days, and the other day I stopped and bought me a ice cream sandwich that was all chocolate, it was very good LOL

I usually never hide any candy that I buy since my mom usually won't touch it if that's the case. In the rare case that she would I'd probably just keep it in my room and that would be good enough. I've never had a problem with her not approving of me eating it because I'm already underweight so if anything she almost encourages it lol. Starting this summer though I've cut down a lot on snacks like chips and chocolate that I would usually eat. It's mainly because my dentist told me to since I want to be able to get braces to fix my overbite. Don't remember having any for a month or so and it's been even longer since I went out of my way to buy some. My mom still buys though. I'm honestly feeling a bit better that way and don't really have many cravings for sweets like I used to when eating it fairly regularly. Could go for some soda sometimes though

I never do that, whenever I buy something, all I do is leave it in the bag and just leave the bag on a table in the living room until I need it.

Wow... I can't say I know how it feels to have to hide food from anyone close to me. D= I've always been able to leave all of my food lying around everywhere and none of it would get eaten, even accidentally or even if I went on vacation. It's not that we have very clear-cut guidelines for establishing the owners of the food either, hm... Now that I think about it, no one ever really cared how much sugar/sweets or chocolates and stuff I ate since we didn't fight over food and no one really liked any of those things very much except for me. oO;; If anything, they would bring chocolates home and then offer it to me, often without even asking to trade it for something else (I used to bring back my Starbursts and Skittles from school to give them to someone else that loves fruity candies more than me XD ). Also, we don't have a habit of eating other people's food without permission, so we never have any issues or arguments over food. If several of us want the same thing, we make sure to buy enough of it to go around or we would make sure to split it all later. If two people want part of the same cupcake, they'd split it in half. If many of us wants to try the flavor of one tiny chocolate, we'd still literally cut it up so everyone can have a taste of it. That kind of applies to most everything we do, especially when it comes to food. The only times I would really have to gather all of my sweets/food in one place and keep them out of sight is when we have company over and they have children. (Laugh if you want, but I would hide my sweets in different places each time, although I often ended up hiding them inside my dresser, under my... "bikini tops." ^^0 I've since learned that that is a terrible place to hide things because so many other people seem to hide their stuff in dressers as well, so I've stopped doing that. XD ) There is one rule that we always follow when it comes to children and it's to keep anything you treasure dearly hidden and out of sight in places that are more difficult to reach (partially because some of the items might break and partially because we don't know how the kids would react around them/treat those items and we'd rather not find out).

I feel for you, that you have to order things and eat them behind your family's back. At this point, unless you can bring this issue up with the rest of your family, I don't know how you could stop it either... Well, there was this idea from a movie that I saw a while back... Have you ever tried hiding things inside flower pots or vases with fake flowers in them? I don't know if a vase would look out of place in your room, but if you can keep it close at hand and make sure no one else tries to dust the vase, maybe you could put some chocolates at the bottom under the flowers and some cloth or something? ^^0 Sorry if the idea sounds silly, but if it helps, the movie I watched was Young Sherlock Holmes.

Zlinqx : Your lucky since you are underweight. hmm.....I should say this my cousin is of the same and my mother complains he hasn't been eating while for me she says the opposite. Even if I was to lose my weight to the point I go underweight what would stop her from complaining about it? If anything she will complain I will eat more. Its tiring to hear my mother complain which I have my reasons to hide my snacks from her. And I time when I have it. I make sure I space it out to like not having any for months until I feel like having some to eat. >.<

zanderlex : I can understand that but, not everyone can do it since well as you saw why. So you have your reasons to leave it in the livingroom.

Yuna1000 : That's another long um....post lol. I won't be able to respond to everything that you have said on your post yuna. As for the last part to do with my family. We are allowed to eat sweet things at reasonable times like Christmas. With my she just over worries too much even discouraging me to the point to hide things. So that's why I would rather hide what treats I buy for myself than to show it. I love my mother, but its too much of an annoyance to stand her same complains over and over. Even when I haven't eaten chocolate for a while she would complain about it. I don't have any flower pots in my room sadly. Don't worry about my hiding spot my mother doesn't look into the place of where I hide them.

Eniitan : In a way I guess I am. I don't really have to worry the same way about what I eat. Now it doesn't really matter because I'm trying to quit eating snacks. At the same time being underweight makes it so I've had other problems. At one point when I was young I was so underweight that it was posing a serious health risk. Not anorexic but not too far from the next closest thing. It's also a problem because I'm trying not to be. I want to be around a normal weight but just as someone who struggles with being overweight find losing it really hard I seem to find it really hard to be able to gain a lot of weight like I want.  Since being underweight isn't as common not a lot of people can relate to the problems that come with it or even think about it in the first place which often times make it hard to deal with.

Zlinqx : Ah I see.....yeah I forgot about that. Thank you for taking the time to reply back and explain on this. Underweight isn't the best way to go as you have already explained as of why....if anything people I am guessing would try, and be at normal weight so no problems will occur. Its not nice when problems to do with your weight occurs at all. I do hope you can get to where you want weight wise. I do what I can to try, and lose my weight. But, because I also take steroid meds its not always easy. '-'

But, because I also take steroid meds its not always easy. '-'

I keep my stashed candy bars and such hidden in plain sight, for the most part. We have this huge cardboard tube that we saved from a friend's home improvement project of sorts and we keep it up on top of the big selves made out of stacks of old TVs (our house is kinduh junky...). I just stick it in the tube and come back later when I get the craving. Which, is usually only a couple days later.... The funny thing about it is that everyone in the house knows about it, but they never remember. You know what they say: out of sight, out of mind. I have another place I stash small chocolate bars, but they don't know about that one, so I best not post it here lol

m0ssb3rg935 : Oh I see.... that's kind of a weird way to do it. But I seems it works for you in that way. Your the first to post of something that is abnormal and odd in a way. Which makes it sound more interesting, and the way you are explaining it too. I don't think that I would be able to do it that way sadly even if I tried. Wait....I think in the past I did put them in the cupboard on the top shelf, but my brother found it and always ate them no matter how hard I tried or my sister. XD

HeavyMetalGamer : Hi-5 for the Red Vine love. Red Vine licorice are superior to Twizzlers, which taste like something left out on the patio over night in the rain. They're not pleasant.

I'm the adult in my house so I only need to put candy at least four feet off the ground so my 2.5 year old daughter can't reach them. She's a climber, she's a jumper, and she inherited her father's athleticism so she's pretty good at problem solving to get to the snacks.

We don't have much in terms of candy anyway. We eat extremely healthy and I'm a beer drinker anyway. We're aggressively teaching our kids to not go after the snacks so we don't hide anything. We're teaching them honesty and trust and respect for property so there's putting things in your room so no one bothers them, which is good, and hiding things, which isn't so good.

Maybe it'll work, maybe not. But they can zoom by a big bowl of M&Ms and not even look at the candy because they're too busy playing or doing other things. If anything, we can teach some moderation.

Ghostbear1111 : I see I find that pretty amazing. And to do with your daughter I had to laugh it was funny the way you said it. Its not as if I have a choice to hide things from my mother see. You know in your other post you said about how you can't deal with people complaining? She's on that scale, and what she does is really discouraging so I really hope you can understand why I do what I do. I mean when I haven't even eaten any chocolates in a while she will still judge wrongly and complain about me on it.....don't get me wrong I love her. I try and talk back she cuts off and shouts. Its just that I wish she sees it the way she is supposed too instead of assuming, and judging. Because doing that can discourage children from saying anything to their parents. I am sure you know of that.

Eniitan : Don't worry about what I think. You do what you do and don't apologize to anyone on here or at home. If you're comfortable with what you eat and what you're doing, keep on doing it.

And yeah, your mother being aggressive and shouting isn't right. That teaches you nothing except she can be mean when something happens that she doesn't like. I haven't yelled at my kids very much and it's been about teaching them acceptable from unacceptable and good decision-making skills. Yelling, hitting, being angry, that all shows them they can't share things with me and they're getting in trouble for making mistakes.

I completely agree with your last statement. I want my girls to be able to come to me about anything. I don't consider myself their friend but I'm their parent and my job is to give them the emotional support they need to get through life. It's tough growing up in any country no matter who you are and they need the help. If I yell, they won't ask for help and that makes things worse.

I agree with you. You're right.

Ghostbear1111 : Thank you it means a lot. There are times she catches me accidentally while at most other times she doesn't. Like when you listen to her complaining it gives you a headache like seriously I pray for her when I can mostly to help her see what she needs to work on. Not every parent is perfect I know, but these blind spots are really easy to see. Its just with a black person is more annoying, and harder to deal with. '-'
