I usually sleep pretty well, but occasionally, when there are times that i get up early for whatever reason, i just get up and sit on my bed alone in my room for a short time and either play one of my games, get on the computer and come on here or someplace else, read one of my books, stuff like that.

When I can't sleep I get up and work on work. I plan my next day, I do things I need to get done and I do some creative marketing pieces.

If that doesn't work to make me pass out, I usually go to creative writing and doing short stories for my own pleasure. Writing gets my mind working and I start thinking so usually sleep isn't on the menu right away when I'm writing for myself. It's a vicious circle but it's what happens. I get out of bed about 20 minutes after trying to go to sleep if I can't sleep and I usually end up on the couch so I don't disturb my wife if I decide to go back to bed. That happens maybe once or twice a week.

It is extremely rare for me to be in that position. I'm used to feeling constantly tired, in the past that used to be because I usually only got 4-6 hours of sleep a night either because I'd stay up to cram or just playing games or doing stuff I enjoy. Even now when I'm getting a decent amount (7-8) I still often find myself feeling tired and like I could go for some more. So I don't have much of a problem falling asleep and thanks to long breaks during school days, have mastered the art of being able to sleep in pretty much any position. The problem for me is more getting to the point where I'll try to go to sleep to begin with when I actually have the opportunity to do so.

In the rare case that I can't sleep (likely because of nervousness about school) I'll probably just keep trying to fall asleep and that usually works. Worst case scenario I stay up all or most of the night assuming I don't have an exam or something. It won't make for a very pleasant next day but it will at least make sure I'll be able fall asleep the next day.

Well it's almost 1AM, and I definitely can't sleep tonight, don't know why, nothing is really on my mind. Usually I just browse the internet, hang out on forums, browse Facebook and Twitter, sometimes I will play some games or work on video content. If I am at my girlfriends house and I can't sleep, and she can't sleep, I usually just watch TV with her, or we just hang out and talk.

Normally, I just move my body in many different positions to see which one I can sleep the best with. But sometimes, that doesn't really work out that well, and I end up playing Rhythm Games on my Tablet for a short time.

I found a new hobby for when I cant sleep

It's called get up and get some milk and try again, and that usually works.

I have recently started using the 4-7-8 breathing technique when I can't sleep, and while it doesn't help me actually fall asleep, it helps me feel a bit more tired, so once I'm done, it becomes a bit easier to fall asleep.

When i can't sleep, i tried to make myself tired, like i do situps on my bed, do 5 laps around my house (its so freakin noisy when i did that) or, simply, to be honest, i just........ you know, im not gonna say what i do but it definitely gets me tired, like really tired, it makes my knees weak and arms are heavy...

Whenever I'm having trouble sleeping, I find that reading a book helps to relax me.

Of course, if the book I'm reading is particularly exciting, reading sometimes has the opposite effect.

But, typically when I read at night, I find myself nodding off after a while.

I'm guessing there are a distinct lack of parents to young children in the room. It's 9:00pm and I start crashing pretty hard. it doesn't matter what's going on, I get tired. Kids and a job and a career and a wife are challenging to handle and I throw in all the exercise and fitness things I do and I can't wait to get to bed in the evening.

There are the rare nights when I can't sleep. If I'm awake at night and I know I won't go to sleep in the next ten or fifteen minutes, I'll get up so I don't bother my wife. She gets aggressive if I start rolling around and going "ugh."

I'll get up, quietly take the dog for a walk, maybe a mile or so, and go back inside. If I'm still awake, I'll make some tea, sip on it (it's berry flavored) and go online and play NES games. Then I'll hang out with the dog on the couch with a blanket and see if I can't wait until the sun shows up.

Not sleeping is tough because once 6:45am hits, it's game on and the day is nonstop the following 13 hours. Losing a night of sleep is punishing and I rarely, rarely do it. If it's two nights in a row, I take a sleeping pill early in the evening and just wipe out. It takes a while to shake the fuzzies the next morning but I fight through.

I rarely have this problem though, unless I take too long of a nap during the day, as I usually have both work and school, so I'm out after doing homework, and I usually don't have time for anything else but sleeping.

As I'm writing this I can't sleep since it's so hot in Norway. I just turn on the computer again and play some games or browse reddit or vizzed. Hope I can sleep for 15-30 min later in the day for a energy boost so I can stay awake til bed time next night. Oh the joy of sleep problems

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.
