So this is a question I thought would be interesting to ask. If you were somehow able to find out right now, would you like to know your date of death? Keep in mind this would be assuming that you wouldn't be able to prevent your death from happening. It is something which the knowledge of could bring both potentially good and bad things with it. The way I see it on the one hand knowing when you will die would in theory allow you to effectively plan your time and accomplish whatever it is you would like to accomplish before that day comes. However it's also something that could cause one to live in fear if one doesn't feel ready to accept it and in that case end up feeling like a curse.

Personally at least right now I'd probably prefer not knowing because of that. If I need that knowledge to feel motivated then that likely means I'm not really living my life the way I should in the first place. With that said, I'm interesting to see what you all think and what other perspectives you may bring.

I'm fairly positive that by knowing your date of death, you would change how you die from whatever it was going to be to suicide. If I knew I was going to die on a certain day, but not how, id probably be too scared of what it would be so on that day I'd probably do it myself somehow.

It would be weird, with that logic, I bet that if there was something that said how you die, it would almost always say suicide, so it opens up a very big paradox.

zanderlex : I should've probably mentioned this but for the purposes of the thread this would be a scenario where you'd know what day you would die but you wouldn't be able to change it. Obviously if you could prevent your death there wouldn't be that much point to not knowing. A bit odd yes, but so would being able to actually find out your death in the first place since that would imply everyone has a set fate. There are many ways accidents can happen and it could also be something like a heart attack so I don't think it necessarily means suicide.

Yah but what if knowing the day you die changes how you are going to die? Its physically impossible to prevent yourself from dying if you don't know how you will die. You could think you are going to die doing something, do something else to stop yourself from dying, but end up leading to the Way you were supposed to die. Fate can be weird.

Honestly it really wouldn't change anything...

We're gonna die one day... Might as well face reality and move on with our lives...

So to answer the thread... I wouldn't really care if my death date was tomorrow or in 50 years... Honestly to me it'd be an advantage to make sure you have everything organised so that when you pass away everything goes smoothly...

Heck it might make some people try to appreciate life a little more... or make them insanely reckless as they know they won't die up to that date...

It's a really open ended question about human psychology really.... so yeah anything can happen

If I had the chance to find out my death date, I probably wouldn't. Dying is one of the things I fear the most, and knowing when I was going to kick the bucket would only make my anxiety skyrocket. I don't know if I could live day to day with the paranoia that comes with knowing that sort of information. Besides, if I couldn't change my fate, why should it matter anyway?

Either way, I want to live life to the fullest. When I go, I'm not going without a fight!

Life is a mysterious and wonderful thing to learn of. If or when you know the date of your death you would feel so many emotions going at you. Thinking of maybe if you can bypass it. Or just accept it and live on the days fully going on out to adventures and that kind of stuff. For most people it will be really hard to accept the date of their death once told. And will do anything to either prevent it or go out with a bang. So then they would feel at ease. At least they did something worthwhile before dying....

Yes i would, sir. Unlike many others in this situation, I wouldn't prevent my death date. I would work to fulfill my dreams in the given time. If that truly doesn't work, I'd embrace my fate with open arms. I wouldn't do anything crazy.

This is interesting because years ago, my brother found a website called the death clock. It is supposed to give you a date your death by the birth date, health, weight and height status. I don't know if this thing was supposed to be accurate. Honestly, it really creeps me out and I always wondered how does it really work. If you like to try it out yourself, here is the website: www.deathclock.com/
Mine was in the year 2070's or something.

I could care less about my date of death. Having been close to suicide and being killed by my disease, I've developed a mindset that I no longer care if I live or die.

If I live, I'm going to make it count, that's for sure. You never know when can it be your last. I wouldn't change any plans even if I was going to die soon, because the best plans are always improvised. If I knew the exact hour when I would die, then I would make sure to be sleeping so I can die doing the thing I love the most

We all die at one point in time. Yes it's sad and depression, but we can't do anything to prevent it usually.

If I knew when I would die, I wouldn't mind. I'd live everyday like how I would. Nothing would change for me. Not my plans for the future, my lifestyle. Heck I probably wouldn't even try to prevent my death.

If I died, at least I had fun in my last moments.

I would personally not want to know when I would die.

It doesn't matter if it was tomorrow or 100 years from now. It would constantly be nagging me at the back of my mind and I wouldn't be able to enjoy life. And I'd rather enjoy life, y'know?

I would probably want to know when I would die. I would know exactly how much time I have left on the Earth. I probably wouldn't try to change my death or anything, but I would try to live life to the fullest if my death was soon to come, and sort of relax if my death was a long time from now.

This thread actually reminds me of the Would You Rather question "Would you rather know the date of your death or the cause?"

If I could know the date of my death, I'd choose not too. Considering that you can't change it, what if it said next week?
You'd know that you would die next week and you can't avoid it, that's the worst part of it.

I would only want to know my date of death if it makes me a better person. And knowing whether or not it would is hard for me. I guess it really depends how soon or how late my date of death is. But if I had the choice to know now, I would say no because I can imagine the terrible feeling of knowing if it was too soon.

If my date of death is tomorrow, I would be spending a lot of time with my family right now and continually pray to God to get into paradise (everyone has their own religious beliefs though).

If it was in a 100 years, I'd probably be the same (mostly). Except that sometimes I might just remember the date and get afraid, but I would still be relieved if I knew I had a lot of time left. Sometimes my depression might just be in affect though and I might wish it's tomorrow (which might lead me to wanting to know the date), but it's extremely rare when I feel suicidal (but I'm often depressed still).

With knowledge like that, I probably would do a lot more risky things I probably would never do otherwise... but then that creates a paradox... cuz if I hadn't known, would I live a healthier life and take less risks?

BestGamer24 : I recently introduced my dad to Death Note (A story about a book that can kill simply by writing that persons name in the book while imagining their face to those who don't know) and we were talking; Thing about me is I'm a generally strong actor and can easily place myself in and out of an imaginative world.

Simply speaking he pretended to write my name into his imaginary notebook and for about twenty seconds I sat there dumbfounded, surprisingly all I could do was laugh in the end.

So I'd probably laugh off the end of my days.

Actually I am very curious on knowing my date of death. Every single living being is destined to die at some point in their lives.

One main reason why I think it is important to know because we often take people for granted despite of the strength of our bonds with one or another. We don't expect a person to die all of a sudden in a short amount of time but we expect one to be around for a certain amount of time in our lives. It really makes us think if we have a purpose in our lives along the way with yourself or if we have a meaning to our family, friends, and community in general. Most importantly, it gives us an epiphany stating that time really is short and we can't receive it back as much as we want to.

If I were to know about my death or not, I would try my best to spend time with the ones who hold very dear to my heart (as they helped to shift me who am I today).

You will never know when a person will die in such short notice at such a young age (sadly it happened to one of my old classmates who passed away around a few years ago). That's why you try your best to spend time with people especially loved ones as much as you can!

Death is quite depressing but mysterious part of a living being's life cycle.
Actually I am very curious on knowing my date of death. Every single living being is destined to die at some point in their lives.

One main reason why I think it is important to know because we often take people for granted despite of the strength of our bonds with one or another. I would really love to know the exact date of my death. I've already come to terms with the fact I'm going to die eventually (I never thought I'd make it to 30 with my previous lifestyle), so knowing exactly when would just allow me to plan things out better. I mean it would kind of suck to spend the next 3 years saving money for the future if I'm not going to have one right? And that way you could make sure to scratch everything off your bucket list before the big day finally comes. It'd be nice to meet the grim reaper good and prepared with both middle fingers up, ya know?
