Anime is quite diverse, but it's characters are also such. Over the past 50 years of it's existence, Anime has provided us with some of the most interesting and appealing fictional characters. The dynamic art form has given us lots of characters; heroes, villians, morally ambiguous characters and much more. It's to be seen to be really believed. For example, my favorite anime character is Light Yagami himself. He's obviously not god, but what he does under his huge ego to make others believe his plight, is amusing to watch. He's cool, composed, collected, and calm. While I don't condone his morals, I appreciate his motivation and determination. Another favorite is Kurapika. Like light, he's also quite composed and motivated. However, he has more of a personal dilemma. After having his whole clan slain and condemned, he travels the world to arrange his vendetta. He has every reason to flip; all of his relatives are dead, and no one cares. Ignorance is quite bliss. He's on a mission, which he mostly accomplished, and now he's going to an undiscovered continent to finish his business. I'm glad he's back.

Who's your favorite Anime character? Why? What do you admire about them? Anything you see in them which you see in yourself? Thanks for listening, chums.

As you can tell from my profile picture, I like Gary Oak. I would probably say he's my favorite anime character. He was the original gangsta. The man DROVE in on his first day as a Pokémon trainer with a bunch of girls in his car.... AT AGE 10! Someone take this man away! The dude routinely abuses Ash every time they battle except for the Johto League battle (which I still cry about to this day ). He's just a boss and does everything so cool. He's basically everything I'm not . Anyways, that's my favorite anime character of all time.

One of my favorites is Sanosuke Sagara. I like him because he has a tragic backstory, was betrayed by the ones in charge and he and the group he was a part of was branded a false army. Almost every one of them were killed except for a few survivors. He grew up with an intense hatred for the government and the man that gave rise to the current government. He became a fighter for hire and would lose himself in a good brawl.

But despite his past,he will never allow someone to suffer if he could help it. He will throw himself into the fight to protect those he treasures. He also is the one that snap the main character out of his thoughts and remind him that he is there to lend a hand and have his back in battle.

Lelouch vi Britannia from Code Geass. He's a beautifully developed character and he has many flaws and strengths which make him a more interesting character.

Second would probably be Satarou from Erased. I'm not really sure if it's the character I like so much as story. Regardless I like it about.

Honestly aside from Lelouch it's really hard for me to pick a favourite. I've watched a lot of anime and have seen a lot of great characters.

Mine most be Monkey D Luffy. One piece was the anime that I watched so for me that must be the ones I like the most since that anime that I watched in Japanese. Did see pokemon, but I was to young to know it was mure like it and even more crazier. But One Piece is the one I have watched the most of.

Of all the animes that I have seen, my favorite has to be Youske from the Persona 4 world. I love all the characters from there, and in some ways I love the main guy Yu a lot more, but Youske is just a lot more of a fun character and pretty much every time that he says something, you end up dying from laughter. Aside from him, I also like Serena from Pokemon a bit.

I have WAY to many to count I can say Serena from sailor moon. The original one not the new one. Since I am like the number 1 fan of that anime on vizzed! There are others but it wouldn't be cool to list too many anime characters lol. I could but I am going to stick to one as said. XD

I'll toss together a quick list.

1. Ryuunosuke Akasaka
2. Aioi Yuuko
3. Rintaro Okabe
4. Izumi Miyamura
5. Harunobu Madarame

God, asian names have nothing on me.

Anyway, to answer the question, Ryuunosuke's my favorite, from Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. He functions very similar to me. Which at first glance is sad, as he's a gynophobic shut-in. But, hey, he's a supergenius, which isn't all bad. His incredibly cynical view on life and relationships, and his almost overly blunt dialogue lines up with mine, but the man isn't depressed, which is good.
Also, he gets worked up super easily, so his scenes (save one in episode 20) are all super amusing, especially the ones with Rita.
Overall, a very fun and yet heavily involved character.

I really like both Light Yagami and L. Mostly L, if you couldn't tell before. I understand Light's views, and if it was just criminals that committed big crimes like murder at least twice, I would be fine. But he only gives them one chance. And then there's this part of where he wants to become "God". Nope. That's too far. That's when I would switch to L's side. Besides, he starts killing innocents just so he won't get caught. That's where I draw the line.

Spoilers incoming.... My favorite is N, also known as Nate Rivers (i think) from Death Note. He's a bit childish but he's still smart. Just like me.

Oh man this is a tough question. So many amazing choices to pick from. Off the top of my head, I'd say Light Yagami (or Kira) from Death Note. Our upbringing and view of the world seemed almost identical for the most part, and I was always on his side in the anime. I'd have probably done the exact same thing if put in his shoes

My very favorite Anime character is Super Buu from near the end of Dragon Ball Z, he acts so childish but at points he shows the ability to think rationally and in a tactical manner. He's over confident and toys with people but had a short temper like a very powerful toddler.

My favorite Anime character is Light Yagami because he's absolutely insane and you can hear his internal dialogue, this makes him a very deep character, and definitely not one dimensional.

After putting some more thought into it, not only is Light one of my favorites, but also Izaya Orihara from Durarara!! I love how they use their intellect to manipulate the people around them, and are always working some scheme or master plan behind the scenes. Those types of characters who can use their intellectual strength to conquer the world, or at least bend it to their will, have always been my favorites.

Gah, this is a tough one. I have a lot of characters that I really like from a lot of series. It'd be between Hughes from Full Metal Alchemist, Roy Mustang, also from Full Metal Alchemist, Migi from Parasyte: The Maxim, and then Klein from Sword Art Online. I think I would have to go with everyone's favorite flame alchemist though. That man's a genius at maneuvering around the law enforcement and an incredibly powerful user of alchemy. Any scene with him, in general, is going to be either hilarious or just about the coolest thing that you've ever seen.

The others really aren't too far off though, all of them hold a special place in my heart as some of my favorite anime characters of all time, it's just that Roy Mustang is cooler than they are.

Another I enjoy is the main character from Rurouni Kenshin,Kenshin himself. He seems like a meek, mild mannered small man,but he can still fight with the skill that his former self possessed. His former self was the Battousai,or manslayer, was the power behind the Imperialists in the waning days of the Tokugawa era. He was responsible for so many deaths that his enemies feared and respected him. Due to a tragic event in his past,he swore never to take a life again, becoming a wanderer and using a reverse blade sword.

During the series,he is forced to fight harder and more fiercely, and at times, his alter ego,the Battousai was dominant and was willing to kill. He was brought back by his friends and those around him, knowing if he became the manslayer again, they would never see him again. He is seen as a weak man,but very polite, helpful, and a good person. But he is an example of what happens if we are to snap.

My favorite Anime character would easily be Kirito. Reason being is that he is so charismatic and very heroic and brave. In the game he got stuck in, SAO, he is a complete beast. I also like his voice acting and character design.

I guess my favorite anime character would be espada number 4 from bleach, Ulquiorra Cifer. I guess my favorite anime character would be espada number 4 from bleach, Ulquiorra Cifer. He's my favorite because of how he interacts with other people and because his second released form looks amazing and cool and because he was the only enemy to really push ichigo to be better and the only enemy to really kill ichigo.

My favorite anime characters (yes, I have an extremely long list so I'm just going to name a few from some of the more popular series) include, in no particular order:

Nausicaä (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind)
I have always admired her character and thought of her as the most princess-like of all of the characters I've ever seen. She firmly believes in life and the entire film is about her attempts to end a devastating war (in the film, it was started by another princess). If there is one character I would strive to be like, it would be Princess Nausicaä. I watched the film Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind (by Studio Ghibli) when I was little so it made quite a deep impression on me. According to interviews, Nausicaä was based on Homer's Phaeacian princess from the Odyssey, although it has also been suggested that Miyazaki may have also drawn inspiration from The Lady who Loved Insects (and thus Nausicaä loved the ohmus).

Minato Namikaze (Naruto)
Believe it or not, I liked Minato even before I learned his name. ^^0 At the time, many people were speculating that his name was Arashi or something along those lines. XD I pretty much took one look at his back (it was his Hokage robe fluttering in the wind while he stood on a toad!, please don't get the wrong ideas) and decided that he was going to be my favorite character from Naruto (sorry, Naruto). I need to go back and see if that page was actually one of the first pages of the manga for Naruto. oO;; Anyways, I would later learn that he'd sacrifice just about everything to keep his family and nation safe from destructive forces, even going so far as to seal the destructive forces inside something that was dear to him. A man like this is hard to come by, and if it wasn't that he was taken already...  you get the point (but in my defense, I didn't know anything about him when I first started to read the manga). I usually don't choose to like characters that are already married, but this character is one that I wouldn't mind meeting, if anything.

Shizuo Heiwajima (DURARARA!!)
I love this character, it's hard to explain why and even now I'm still trying to figure out why more people don't like him as well. Maybe his ability to throw vending machines, jump out of tall buildings and land unharmed, and indestructibility might have something to do with it... and his dislike of violence. XD Anyways, he's one of the awesome characters from Durarara!! and I'm still looking for a plushie of him.

Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter)
When I was younger, I watched Hunter x Hunter (the older version) and began to like this character a lot. He is supposed to be a smart character, not that it comes across very well in the new Hunter x Hunter anime. =/ Now that I've seen the newer version of Hunter x Hunter, I've turned back to reading the manga because it seems to me that the way the new anime is directed has caused Hunter x Hunter to lose all the little things that made the older version so wonderful. For the new version, I actually like Killua more...

Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
When I first watched Fullmetal Alchemist, I liked Ed because he was caring and funny. Both he and his brother Alphonse care about their relationships with people that matter to him, so he was an easy choice (well, half of it was because my friend who likes Killua decided to like Alphonse). After I studied Ed some more, I began to identify with him as well since I also tend to pursue certain things with great tenacity when much is at stake and lives are on the line.

Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist)
This character is awesome but he totally belongs to my friend (the one that likes Killua and Alphonse). When asked what the first thing he would do if he ever became Führer was, Roy replied that he would make all of the females wear miniskirts. XD I've thought carefully about it and finally determined that it is true; every scene with Roy in it becomes even more awesome by default and he is easily one of the most emotive characters, as befitting someone who holds the moniker of the Flame Alchemist. However cool he appears to be though, he remains extremely loyal and devoted to his subordinates and he will protect them at the cost of his life.

Levi Ackermann (Attack On Titan)
Although I don't know much about this character yet (I really hope he doesn't die!), I like how he can stay calm and empathize with the people around him, including Eren. His team was frazzled time and again by Eren's abilities, but Levi never let the fears overtake his sense of reason.

Eve (Black Cat)
For all that Eve appeared to be dangerous and cold the first time she is introduced, we later find that she's actually quite funny and cute and enjoys reading books. It doesn't hurt that she can control her hair to perform special tasks. Her demeanor reminds me of someone I know who I also think of as cute.

Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)
One of the first anime shows I ever watched was Yu Yu Hakusho (Spirit Detectives) and my friends often laughed at me for liking the character called Shuiichi Minamino (yep, he sort of looks like a girl and I don't know why they changed his uniform to pink for the anime). At the time, I just thought his weapon was pretty (it's a string of roses, and I like roses, what can I say?) and his attacks often had to do with plants, which were fascinating to me. I wouldn't say he's necessarily the kindest character ever (especially when he's in Youko Kurama form) but he's pretty thoughtful considering what he used to be. It also doesn't hurt that his Youko form is quite handsome, at least compared to some of the other characters from the same series.

Yoruichi Shihouin (Bleach)
In my opinion, Yoruichi is one of the most interesting characters from Bleach (and the author often made omakes to joke about her cat form as well). She is often seen wandering around the human world as a cat so one could easily forget that she was actually one of the more powerful Captains and the former commander of the Onmitsukido. I like this character because on some level, I kind of identify with her (especially the teasing and playing part). Although I find her abilities admirable, I find her sense of justice to be even more admirable, and that's a quality that I strive for, just like how I look up to Nausicaä.

Lawliet (Death Note)
L (Lawliet) is my favorite character from Death Note (sorry to all the Light Yagami fans, but I actually don't like Light at all), mainly because he believes that good will always triumph over evil. It doesn't hurt that he loves candy and sugar as much as I do and enjoys playing tennis and certain other games *cough chess cough* as well. In my opinion, the manga should have stopped at volume 7, but well... popularity doesn't always give you much choice when you're publishing something and trying to make some money.

There are more characters I adore but for now, that's all I'll be posting. Hope this helps you to understand where I'm coming from sometimes.

Hmm..... Well, i would say that my VERY favorite Anime character is Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. He's just awesome, and even though he seems pretty snarky at times, and very... QUICK tempered (Don't call him short), at his core, he's a really nice guy who sticks by his younger brother Alphonse, and would do anything for him. Probably the best brother ever.

However, i also have a soft spot for the protagonist of Shaman King, Yoh Asakura. He's just a really calm, laid-back, nice guy. He may seem really lazy, but he has a really big heart, and believes that there's good in everyone, Human and spirit. He's also very unselfish, and his dream for when he becomes Shaman King is to make it so EVERYONE, not just him, can just relax and live an easy life. You have to admire someone like that.
