In this competition is based on the Video Game Characters feature. Whoever assigns the most characters to the most screenshots wins.

We did this same competition last summer as you can see here.

Examples of how this works
You get a point for each unique character / game combination. I'll use Super Mario World and Mario in my examples:
-If you assign Mario to 3 screenshots for Super Mario World, you get 1 point.
-If you assign Mario to 3 screenshots for 3 different games, you get 3 points.

You can also earn multiple points off of the same screenshot if it contains more than 1 character; example:
-If you assign Yoshi and Mario to the same screenshot for Super Mario World, you get 2 points.

You can assign characters to screenshots of games that other users have already done but not of the same characters. Example:
-Another user assigns Mario to a screenshot for Super Mario World, they get 1 point
-You assign Mario to a screenshot for Super Mario World, you do not get a point
-You assign Yoshi to a screenshot for Super Mario World, you get 1 point

Raffle Tickets let you redeem steam games of $10 value and they are stackable.


Trophy Award:
This is a newly added feature. The user who wins this competition will get a special trophy item added to their Vizzed Market inventory. Users will be able to display all the trophies they've earned on their profiles (when I'm done remaking them).


Rules:
-Taking screenshots of characters for a game that someone else has already taken screenshots of for that same game will not count if the screenshots are too similar, if someone takes a screenshot similar to a screenshot already submitted to this competition, it will be down rated
-You must average less than 32 characters per a game (so if you do a game with a ton of characters, you'll have to make up for it by doing a bunch of games that don't have a ton of characters to balance out the average)
-Only screenshots taken after 6/1/2016 count
-Screenshots must be given a description and assigned to a category to count
-Hacked and homebrew games do not count
-If more than 75% of your tagged characters are in games where others have tagged the same characters, than you are not eligible for the cash prizes
-A 'Character' will be anyone in the game that has a name and isn't user generated and isn't randomly generated
-Only screenshots which have a rating of 3 or higher count
-Clones do not count (this only applies to MAME games)
-You MUST use the Vizzed RGR Plugin to take the screenshots for games that exist in the RGR
-If you upload screenshots to the Video Game Room, they must be great quality and must also be taken by you, otherwise they will not count


Tips:
-Try to focus on games that no one else has done
-When you work on a game, try to add every character for that game
-If you find characters that are missing, be sure to let the staff know asap so that we can get them added right away and than you can add those characters to your games
-Don't be overwhelmed if a lot of users have a lot of points, it's very easy and quick to earn a lot of points
-This competition not only encourages tagging characters in your screenshots, it also encourages taking more screenshots so be sure to take as many as you can
-Make sure to take and use meaningful screenshots if you want to avoid having your screenshots down rated

This is my first screenshot competition!

First time I'm actually competitively competing in something like this, and I must say that I have to work a lot to keep my place around the top. But it's also pretty fun at the same time X3. Takes a lot out of me honestly, sorta like whenever I try to be in the TdV xp. Welp, I can concentrate on one thing though, so I'm good .

Let's reach 5,000 points guys! And maybe break the all time record as well if possible. And my goal is first place, though I'll settle for 2nd or maybe 3rd. Hope people help reach that number :3.

Question. You cannot submit characters if people have already done them for that game. Does that count before the competition started or just after? So like if someone submitted a character before the competition started can you still do that character?

awesomeguy279 : If someone submitted a character before the competition counted then you can't do that same character. That'd be kinda pointless since it'd be a waste of time to submit repetitive content to the site.

vizzy900 : You can bug good luck finding a Pokemon game that hasn't already had every character taken care of.

tyranit : I know that it isn't really "against the rules" but I'd recommend that you don't just take screenshots of the pokemon in the pokedex because that's not helpful. It's not getting to see the Pokemon in the game, in a battle, it's just a picture of their Pokedex entry. You have over 250 of those currently, and it's annoying.

Those aren't "quality screenshots" by standards of staff and would get you DQ'd from the TdV, and I know that while you're trying to win, the competition is about getting screenshots for different games to add more content to the RGR and VGR, not 250 screenshots to a game that don't actually show gameplay. 

Barathemos : These just boost my character count. I have about 4 or 5 Pokemon games that I am doing this for, and then I am picking out games that I know characters from, and don't have them accounted for. I plan on getting a lot of screenshots for the VGR.

EDIT: Don't know why I have 4 dislikes, the plan makes sense for winning, and I still plan on doing other content.

Davideo7: Also, I wanted to ask if you could do another one of those character pages that was at the bottom of your first post of this thread for the games in the VGR. I don't know if it would be easy, but it would be convenient.

tyranit : I think the reason why you have 4 dislikes is because your plan for winning is cheap and discourages competition from past and potential future competitors. I mean, not everyone can just add 100s of screenshots for Pokemon in a day.

I guess the plan does make sense for winning, and I guess it makes you happy since you've pretty much discouraged any competition, which helps you win easier, but it makes every other competitor unhappy. I spent a lot of time taking screenshots (and half of that time wad adding missing characters), and with my hours of hard work I get only 72 points. You, on the other hand, gets 100s of points without much effort (it seems. And correct me if I'm wrong, but it's impossible to get every Pokemon in any Pokemon game in a day without cheats, so it was probably preplayed if that's the right word)

Now usually the fact that you're doing this would put your character per game count into the hundreds and disqualify you, but because you also took one screenshot for various other games, you managed to get an average of 17 at the time I'm writing this post. And didn't Davideo7 say to try to take screenshots of every character in each game you do, not just games that give you a major advantage?

The competition was admittedly much more enjoyable when there wasn't a clear winner. Me and yoshi were pretty much only 10 points apart, and we switched 1st place constantly. That was taxing on my time, but it was also fun because I needed to put effort in. We both did. And if that continued to be the case, when one of us did eventually win the competition, it would have been more rewarding to win. But with a clear winner who's hundreds of points ahead of second just 4-5 days into the competition, it sucks all the fun out of the competition. Except for the person dominating.

ZeroTails : The way that Juliaisme123 won last year was mostly because of Pokemon games. I caught on to her ideas and did a few for myself last year. This year, I am just picking up the games I didn't get last year. Sorry if that discourages competition, but you guys could still fight for second place, which if we get over 5000, you get $100 in Steam games. I didn't preplay these games, I did use full Pokedex cheats, but that was not against the rules, and is the same way Julia picked up a bit of her win last year.

tyranit : I didn't use cheats. I imported a save file, and, I didn't do the Pokemon games until around the 10th, as I wanted to make sure we hit 10K. I had at least 3000 characters before I did the Pokemon games I'm pretty sure.

Wowzers! A thing. A fun thing! A very, very fun thing. This is a rather unique idea, you know. :o I shall try!

I gave you guys a whole week to catch up to me, but you didn't even take advantage of it. I'm sorry, but now your opinion just seems like a "I don't have it, why should you be able to have it!" A competition is a competition, and it is supposed to be competitive, not necessarily fun. I also would like to point out that it was not fair that one of you took my trust points because of this. I didn't do anything wrong, you are just in the majority and don't want to work for this competition win, and I did. Look at vizzy900, he was going to use Pokemon games, but did you say anything about his intention? No, no you didn't.

tyranit : I would like to make a few points about your post. First of all, I never said I was competing. I'm actually not competing because I have been having internet problems recently and its not fast enough to add enough screenshots and characters in a quick fashion. So saying that my opinion seems like a "I don't have it, why should you have it!" is a silly statement that isn't actually true.

Secondly, a competition is a competition, and you're competing. All I was trying to say was that we would like to see more quality screenshots that aren't just the pokedex in the game, after using a cheat to fill the pokedex. I said that you were allowed to do it, I just said that I would recommend if you took screenshots of gameplay for lots of different games in the VGR so that we actually get the results that we wanted in the competition, adding content all over.

Thirdly, you can't say that me or zerotails took your trustpoints as you're not an admin and don't have access to the logs. We didn't do it because we are mature, and there are so many other users are so many other things you've done around the site that could have resulted in a decline in your trust points. You can't take that out on just me and zerotails.

Forth, i don't know vizzy900's intentions with the Pokemon games, for all I know he could be taking screenshots of actual gameplay and using those. I didn't say anything to him because he had done nothing.

tyranit : Yea sure, you gave me one week to catch up to what you did in 2-3 days. I just don't see the point in competing since when you resume you'd just get ahead of me, if I even came close to catching up to you at all. I didn't complain about yoshi constantly getting ahead of me because he wasn't using cheap tactics and taking poor quality screenshots. Also, for the week that you gave me to "catch up" to you was also the same week that I was gone for like 4-5 hours every other day. I was even gone for about 23 hours at once, and one of those days I was only on for an hour. Life happens, okay? It's summer time so of course I'm not going to be on here all the time. I also like to do some other stuff as well that I can't do during school. Also, when you got those trust points taken, I was Elite. I never gave you trust points, and Elites can't take TP that they didn't give. And you don't have access to the administrative logs so you're just accusing us...

Why do people enter competitions to begin with? To have fun and earn something. When someone doesn't make the competition fun, they usually just leave or give up. Which is what I did. I don't want to compete somewhere where I'm not having any fun or enjoyment. I have other things I want to do. What you did made it so that I didn't have fun competing, so I stopped.

"don't want to work for this competition win, and I did" Yea, because using a cheat to get all the Pokemon as opposed to actually getting the Pokemon legitimately is working for the competition win. I worked hours to get my point total, and you seemed to get the points without much effort... (at least to my point of view)

That's just my two cents, and feel free to disagree or whatever. I may have sounded a bit too harsh, but I just replied to defend myself against some accusations that in my opinion doesn't have much to back it up...

ZeroTails : Tell you what, I'll give you the 4 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games for the DS all for you, I won't do them, and you can use AR codes for it. I want competition, and each of those games have 350+ characters, equaling to about 1400 characters, which surpasses me and is a very efficient system. You weren't too harsh, I just was going off of my strategy that I used last year. I hope to see some more people try to compete again.

Davideo7 : I know it would defeat the purpose of these competitions, but afterwards, would it be possible for you to add the ability for us to add games to the character's appearances, such as underneath the section "Games With (Insert character)". For example:

This is the Pokemon, Lugia. Lugia's been in every main series game since Gold and Silver, and the list of games on the left doesn't say games such as X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire. Would it be possible for you to add a link to the bottom of the list of games saying "Add a Game" or something, then people would be able to add the game to the character list. That is another reason that I have been doing the screenshots of the Pokemon and Super Smash Bros Trophies because their isn't another efficient way to do so.

tyranit : Unfortunately, I don't have a DS, and I don't want to use a DS emulator just yet, and tbh cheating to take screenshots isn't my thing... I guess it's just personal preference or personal standards but xp. I'll probably go around to taking screenshots of Pokemon games sometime in the future, but as for now I'll pass. Besides, I'm personally concentrating on something else, and while I may return to the competition to try and get a point total of 200-300, I'm done when it comes to trying for first. I may try to get my second place position more secure though (hence 200-300 points)

As for the "Games that Include Lugia", I personally prefer keeping it how it is right now. It maybe make the site look incomplete (which it sorta is :p), but with the screenshots complete I think it makes the site look pretty good. Then again that's just me, and it does make it easier to find and untag screenshots with the wrong character since there'd be a list like "Games with Luiga: blah, blah, blah, Sonic Adventure". I don't know about you, but I don't think Lugia is in Sonic Adventure (also this is just an example and not something I've actually seen so...)
