Hey guys. I know that the NFL Draft just began there's still a lot of things that need to be done before the season begins, but fantasy football is back. I've renewed my auction fantasy football league (separate from David's standard league). If anyone wants to join, let me know. I would like at least eight people who want to participate before finalizing the league.

Possible Questions

Q - What is an Auction League?

A - An auction league is a fantasy league in which fantasy owners place "bids" on players, and the highest bidder gets the player. You bid on players until you fill your roster (once that happens you can no longer bid).

Q - How much can one bid?

A - You can bid as much as you want, as long as it doesn't exceed the maximum bid possible. Also, you only have a $200 budget, so being smart with your money is important. And in case anyone is wondering, the $200 isn't a real $200, so you don't spend actual money on the players.

Q - What do the rosters look like?

A - Right now, my plan is to make the roster positions as follows: QB(x1), RB(x2), WR(x3), TE(x1), W/R/T(x1), K(x1), DEF(x1), BN (x6). If anyone has any suggestions to improve it, please let me know.

Q - How do I join?

A - In order for you to join, you would need a Yahoo account, and I would have to send you an invite to the league via email. Owners who were in it last year have been sent invites to rejoin the league.

Q - Is there an entry fee?

A - As of right now, there is no entry fee. I don't plan on adding one, but if for whatever reason I need to or feel that I should, then I will.

Q - Are there any prizes?

A - I haven't come up with an official list of prizes, but I do plan on giving Viz prizes to the top 5 fantasy owners. as of right now, it would look like this:

1st Place: 50000 Viz
2nd Place: 25000 Viz
3rd Place: 10000 Viz
4th Place: 5000 Viz
5th Place: 2500 Viz

Q - When would the draft be?

A - I plan on having the draft sometime in mid-late August (I would have to know the time of David's draft). I also want to find an optimal time for everyone (or as many participants as possible) to be available to draft, since auction drafts take significantly longer than standard drafts. As we get closer to the end of August, I'll reach an official decision.

I'm competing again this year. I really need to redeem myself this time around.

I'll tentatively sign up. I don't know my schedule that far out, so I may end up having to withdraw, but it looks like I'll be able to participate for now.

I really hope that more people will join by the time August rolls around. I think it may have to do with the fact this forum's previous mods didn't sticky this thread, something they should've done. Now that I'm mod of this forum, I'll go ahead and do that for you.

gamerforlifeforever : Thanks for sticking this. I don't know if this will end up being as successful this year as it was last year, since interest seems to be virtually nonexistent outside of the 4 people who have signed up so far. Hopefully more people show interest within the next month and we can get this thing going.

megamanmaniac : I'm on the fence about this league this year. One because last season was an adventure in this league and two, I have to cut the fat at some point, I have way too many Fantasy leagues going on this year.

All right, I'll be in it fully this time. I kept having SOOO many problems with my Yahoo Account the last couple times and finally managed to kick the problems in the face.

So far I've received very little interest outside of you three. I would like to at least double the amount of participants, but if I'm unable to do this, then I can either have a smaller, winner-take-all league (Viz prizes will be changed since I currently don't have the Viz to pay out 92.5K Viz to the winner), or I can delete the league altogether and give you guys one more spot to jaoin another league. If you have any input or suggestions, feel free to let me know.

As for the draft date, it is currently set to August 27th at 8 PM EST. If any of you have any problems with this, let me know as soon as possible and I can try to find a better time for the draft.

If we cant get at the very least 8 i say there is no point unless you expand the roster to ungodly position spots (which is never fun) 4 people in a league is just not that fun and if we get 8 you can do 2 of evry position (qb rb wr te flex def and k)

megamanmaniac : Yes, it would be more fun with 8 players. Have you tried posting about this league in the Vizzed Market since there is a Viz prize? It might draw in some more players who would like to compete to earn Viz
I would prefer any night except Saturday, since that's date night, but I can if everyone else wants it on that Saturday.

xxdougiexxfreshx : I don't plan on expanding the roster, so if I can't get more people, this league probably won't happen this year.

kramer4077 : I don't think that posting this in the Vizzed Market is good, since it belongs in the sports forum, despite there being a Viz prize. As for the draft time (assuming we get to 8 people), I can see about changing up the draft date and time.

zanderlex : Right now there are only 5 people in. I don't think anyone else is going to join, and if I can't get to at least 8 participants by Friday, I think I'll just drop the entire thing and delete the league.

megamanmaniac : Have you tried to bring in users who are in David's league? Aside for him, there's 10 users so bringing some from there could help.

zanderlex : I've tried already, but if no one wanted to join before when I asked, I don't think asking anyone now would result in a yes.

megamanmaniac : well that sucks. I'll see if I can find anyone interested myself. I never tried ah auction league before so I was really looking forward to this.
