Dragon Ball Z Kai is a remaster of Dragon Ball Z with new recorded lines and the filler was removed but some people don't like it for some reason (probably because nostalgia ) but how do you guys feel about it?


I like it but when I go to watch Dragon Ball Z I always just watch Dragon Ball Z not really sure why but I go with Dragon Ball Z I don't understand why I refuse to watch Kai maybe it's because I saw the 4Kids version before I saw it uncut.

Personally I feel like it would have been better than Dragon Ball Z if it had only included the Buu saga which in my opinion is my favorite saga in the entire Dragon Ball Z series. I also have a tendency where I can only watch so many filler episodes a day before I drop a anime entirely. Dragon Ball Z filler isn't the worst filler I've seen though but I still really like the Dragon Ball Z Kai adaptation in general.

I was introduced to dragon ball via the video games, so I knew the basics of the story, when my brother said that it also had an anime I went to a site and typed in dragon ball, since db kai was still on-going at the time it was the first result that came up, I clicked on it and watched everything.

Now, I didn't know there were 2 versions at the time but I noticed that the buu saga wasn't there,  so I asked my brother where it was, and he showed me DBZ.

Now, what do I think about them? Well, really I do like dragon ball filler, but I also love the manga. It was cool that they had an anime that was closer to the manga, so I have nothing against it, I do like it. (I can't really comment on the english dub cause I mostly watch dragon ball in sub)
I like it, think I like DBZ just a little bit more, though.

I actually liked it, mostly. There are a few things I was watching for specifically, and found out that Kai had changed them for the worse though.

There was this moment in the original where Raditz smacks Piccolo around and says the super silly, but hilarious line of, "Why so blue, green man?" That was the best, but he doesn't say anything like that in Kai, I don't remember exactly what he says, as it wasn't as memorable. XD

I did actually love the awesome speech Goku gave Freiza when he goes Super Saiyan in the original. It was all about how he's the protector of the universe and defender of the weak, all that good stuff. But in Kai, he just talks about being a Super Saiyan, despite now even knowing that was a thing, until Vegeta told him, like, 5 minutes ago. And he wasn't as angry as I think he should have been. People died, man...

And I did actually like the filler, like Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma landing on that fake Namek, and meeting those truffles in space, which actually gave us some backstory on the Saiyan race, so I like knowing what Kai took out, seeing as I have seen all the original episodes, but I also do agree with Kai for cutting out the filler, and making it overall more serious.

Kai also has the benefit of not changing Vegeta's voice actor, like, 2 or 3 times, as Christopher Sabat does half the voices of Dragon Ball now. XD

And the opening is sung by Vic Mignogna, who usually does higher pitched voices, but also does Broly's super deep voice. XD

Really? Again? : Ah so i see you watch the dub, well, that goku speech thing i'm pretty sure was not in the manga or in the japanese dub of the original anime, so that would explain it. Probably the same with that piccolo raditz line.

I actually really enjoyed DBZ Kai. I'm not against the filler in any way but more often than not I just skipped it while watching through the series anyway so I didn't feel like I missed out on much. It also helped parts of the series breeze by a bit quicker rather than wasting time on things that we had all already seen multiple times before.

It does seem like some good stuff was cut out though like Really Again mentioned. The original will always be my favorite but Kai was fun to watch as well.

I really enjoyed the fact that Kai was uncut, but Z will always be my favorite. I loved (almost) all the filler in it, and a lot of the changed dialogue was not for the better in my opinion. And even though more episodes can make a show drag, with something as enjoyable as DBZ, I'd rather have more episodes to make the experience last as long as possible. I would assume nostalgia plays a part in it as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kai too, but Z will always hold an edge in my heart.

I don't really like Kai so much. Like really I didn't even bother trying to watch more of the episodes. I remember watching one and it felt strange I tried to watch another and still didn't get that feeling as I did for the old dbz years ago. Then I was getting more bored. Then I disliked it simple as that. Kai did things like cut of power ups people are happy with or some. And the buu saga as well....I'm not going to elaborate more on it because it will just further get me more upset talking about it. '-'

I'm not sure if I like it better than the original but I do like Kai. The soundtrack is good and the voice acting is (sometimes) good, so it's not terrible. It doesn't hold a candle to the original though.

This is one of the scenes I do think Kai did better than the original, though.

I don't really consider Dragon Ball Z kai any different than regular Dragon Ball Z. They are basically the same only Kai is clearly an HD remake of Dragon Ball Z that just doesn't have as many filters and it was cut shorter than the Dragon Ball Z series and Kai just doesn't seem as graphic in the sense of the blood is brown and barely shows and there no real swearing in it, in conclusion Dragon Ball Z Kai is just digitally remastered water downed Dragon Ball Z.
