There are a few games that I want to play, but I don't have money to buy all of them. I was wondering if anyone on vizzed has ever pirated steam games? If so how did you do it? There is one website that I was gonna try, but I wanted to know if there was a better way.
I know there is a chance that I could end up downloading a virus, but I can either use a backup that I have or just reset my computer to remove it. There isn't anything on my computer that I can't redownload.

First note: Andrew is offering the full Star Wars Humble Bundle for only 40k Viz.  You could buy that and try to trade the games for games you want, on, say /r/indiegameswap or /r/Steamgameswap (they allow trading of full bundles, and the value of your bundle will likely go up after the bundle is off-sale).

Second note: I have never pirated a Steam game.  However, I have traded Humble Bundle games.  While not illegal, it is a violation of Humble's ToS.  They have the right to refuse future service to me because of this practice.  However, they have said online that they don't have staff dedicated to seeking out such people.  Take it as you will, and consider proceeding with caution, if you choose to participate in the practice.  One site that doesn't mind trading keys is Indiegala.  In fact, they have a section of their site explicitly dedicated to it.  tbh, I really don't know how Indiegala makes money.  I guess less of their money goes to charity, and they rarely offer the bigger-name games that Humble offers, but their bundles are often cheap for a large number of games.  Sometimes it's like $2 or so for 12 games.  I find it amazing.

Anyhoo, I bet you probably know most of this, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help in this area. I get most of my games from theisozone or by torrenting, and none of them Steam related. If they're old enough to have non-Steam versions, I might be able to help. You could just add them as non-Steam games in your library and most should work with the overlay.

I have honestly pirated games before some non-Steam games and some are Steam games. Though time-to-time I am offering games for viz, or sometimes are looking for those offers so I wouldn't mind buying some games for Viz.

earthwarrior : I usually traded them for other bundle games or keys, but occasionally, I traded them for Steam gifts.

earthwarrior : You can easily pirate the latest games, right now I have XCOM 2 which released on February this year. I don't like to mention websites but screw it, you can try Rarbg as there are mostly legit games on there or you can try Pirate Bay, in which you can easily unblock the website and sort the torrents by the most seeds as they are most likely working games.

earthwarrior : I have a pirated version of Undertale I got from some website so I could take the game on computers that had installation of Steam blocked, though I'm not exactly breaking the law since I did buy it before getting then pirated version. But its better to just buy the games since most pirated steam games (Like my Undertale one) will not register you have it since is basically the game files and exe with the thing that causes it to launch it from steam removed. It is also better since you have little to no chance of getting a virus.

earthwarrior : Some installations are straight forward, leading you through an installer (Sometimes Russian but have an English installation)  and will install the game normally without having to do anything additional, on other games (older ones most of the time) will require you to mount the .ISO file, install the game and then go inside the mounted disk and copy the "cracked" content into the directory of where you installed your game. These are the most common installations of a pirated copy, though keep in mind that they are not the easiest to update, in which I haven't really attempted and you'll might need to look somewhere else for that.

Nope, I didn't even know that it was possible for you to do that, I thought you had to specifically get the game through steam or something, but even if I knew that I could do that, I still probably wouldn't have done it.

I think a lot of us that have a Gaming pc have done that at one point.

Really just use torrents, its the easiest thing.
