So from what I understand there use to be a lot more people who played on the Vizzed Minecraft server and I was just curious why some people quit.

People have their reasons for not going on anymore, maybe they stopped playing Minecraft, which I know a few people who have, maybe they have internet connections, got bored because they did everything they could, moved on to another server etc. I myself stopped playing because of furret.

zanderlex : was furrret spam killing you XD. hmm I see I just wish there were more people on more than the select few that are but the past 2 days at one point we had at least 6 people on at once which was great to see.

But yeah the server activity as a whole has been down for the last couple of months. 
Besides the competitions that David hosts every now and then there isn't much to do on the server if you aren't motivated enough. Then you get a drop in activity which causes more members to leave or stop visiting.

It's a chain reaction, and unless we can motivate people to play again activity will never be the same as it was in the server's first year.
Hopefully the newly released 1.9 helps with that.

I know I personally only played on the server for a short period of time. Not anything to do with the server itself, but rather just that Minecraft isn't a game that I find to be all that interesting for more than 10-20 mins at a time tops. I guess I'm just not the creative type. I need more action in my games.

I honestly think the server needs a reset and the starting area needs to be redone. It's really hard to join the server and have any idea what to do when it looks the way it does. Everything seems to be "done" already.

Also, having reset areas like a 1.9 world, nether and end would make the server more exciting to play in again in my opinion.

I don't want to get rid of EVERYTHING but I think we should sort of "archive" Vizzed Ville and areas like that via portals and start more or less fresh with new stuff.

geeogree : Although I don't know a whole lot about Minecraft, I can get on board with this statement. Things seem pretty cluttered and a newbie starting out has no idea where to go or what to do. This sort of thing can be pretty discouraging for someone just trying to get the hang of things.

yeah, having people start in the portal room (which likely needs to be bigger) and having more stuff available to them from the get go. That's part of why I want to redesign the "starting" world so that it isn't Vizzed Ville directly but a portal room where people can decide where to go like Sonic said.

That and a lot of new space to build in would be nice as well. There isn't much room anymore except in the survival worlds.

I log in the server whenever other people are online. Otherwise it's lonely. Yes, there aren't much people logging in due to school, i heard.

I stopped playing for a couple of reasons. Namely, I was moving, working two jobs without a car, was separated from my husband due to jobs.... and was pregnant and then had a baby.   After not being on vizzed or the Minecraft server for 6 months, I have COMPLETELY forgotten the password to an account David paid for.  It was a gift to me for something or the other.... but now I can't get into it, and I don't know what email I had it registered under.  

I tried playing about a month ago with my old Minecraft account, but I had nothing in my inventory and spawned in Vizzed Ville.  There was this button that said if I pressed it, I could get some basic inventory..... but when I pressed it, I kept being told that I didn't have permission to mess with it.  Well, after that I figured I could still play, because I would go to the exploring areas and just make my own basic tools.  Well.... I looked.... and looked..... and looked... but could NOT find my way to that world.  And so I gave up.  

I'm not creative at all, so unless I'm able to explore, fight to survive, and build basic things, I get overwhelmed.  Vizzed Ville and all those surrounding areas leave me feeling silly and very, very confused.  If someone would lead me to the exploring part (I think geeogree did with my Singelli account), then I'd probably try to play it again.  Otherwise, I can't enjoy it.

MY wife and I would love to play, but we have no idea how to get on. Sorry for being a noob, if you guys wouldn't mind telling me how.

Droog : You would need to buy an account for each of you, unless you want to share one, and it's like 25 bucks or something like that.

Once you buy it, download the client and then go to 'multiplayer' and type in vizzed.co and ta'da.

I'm not sure on what caused activity to decline dramatically. Some spectate that it was around the time I stepped down which saw a huge decline of activity, but to clear that, activity started to decline just before I stepped down from Minecraft server admin. It might be because it started to get boring and/or others has a lot of different things to do outside of the server that they didn't have the time to be on the server, I am not 100% sure though.

But like what both Furret and Geeo said, once we do get a new version released, we do get a lot more people trying out all the new stuff that the new version offers like 1.9.
