Yesterday, trademarks for the names Pokemon Sun and Moon were leaked, and in today's Pokemon Direct, Pokemon Sun and Moon were officially announced as the next installment in the Pokemon Series. The 20th Anniversary is upon us, and what better way to celebrate?

What do you guys make of this? What should we expect?

If this is legit, then it's amazing. I don't know why I didn't think of using planets as names instead of rocks and colors and letters. I actually went into the trademark database to look this stuff up and it's in fact legit, Pokemon did trademark these names however it's still in the application process, so the trademark isn't official.

Who knows, this could be what gen 8 will be like, or a game for the NX, who knows, but this is awesome.

However, it doesn't make sense because games are usually trademarked right before they come out. For example, Pokemon X was trademarked on October 4th 2013 and the game came out on October 12th.

EDIT: I did some research and this was first tweeted by a Nintendo Parody account earlier today and that account has been banned.

Also the trademarks only exist in Eurpoe, they dont exist in America or japan.

Why do I have the hunch the Legendaries would be Mega Lunatone and Mega Solrock?

Looks like a nice set of names, kinda different of what we've seen until now. If it's really the next Generation, it's off to a promising start.

zanderlex : Serebii has updated information, and it seems Nintendo has registered several domains for these games in different languages, and all redirect to the official site. It starts to look real.

I really hope this rumor is true. While I would like to see them make Pokemon Z, I wouldn't mind seeing gen 7 arrive either. I'd be interested to see what kind of new features would be added to the next gen games this time around.

Well, it is a good thing that Sun and Moon is a true thing happening, but what's going to exactly happen in Sun/Moon, we won't know till the official CoroCoro magazine is released next month to tell more information.

Although, I have been doing a little bit of research when I watched the direct a few days ago, and by making out all the hints, the region would be based on Hawaii, here's what I seen.

Yellow Fire Truck, the only place we know has yellow Firetrucks is.. Hawaii (although there is a couple other places with yellow fire trucks, but those places are too small to be notice internationally).

A rainbow license plate on the truck, the only countries (that I know of) that has a design on a license plate is both the United States and Canada, and in those two countries, the only state/province that has a rainbow design on it's license plate is.. Hawaii.

Vivillon's Ocean Pattern, there is only one place in the entire world where you can get this design without trading is.. Hawaii.

Plus, other things are aiming the region to be inspired from Hawaii.

On top of the region, the other things is new Pokemon. On top of the two we already know, Gen VII will see a bunch of Pokemon introduced because we have a pattern with a bunch of Pokemon and not a lot of Pokemon (I - have a lot, II - didn't have a lot, III - have a lot, IV - didn't have a lot, V - a lot, VI - didn't have a lot), with this pattern, Gen VII will see a lot of Pokemon introduced.

Also, they have said that a bunch of Pokemon that hasn't got the Mega Evolution treatment yet in X/Y/OR/AS, will get it in Sun/Moon.

So, just this little info is enough to tell us on the new game, although they won't be any further information until next month's CoroCoro magazine (the official magazine of Pokemon (and other anime) in Japan). Already looking forward to that issue to find out more info.

I am super excited for these new Pokemon games. I am excited about them because I really enjoy playing through a new region for the first time not knowing what Pokemon I will encounter or who the Gym Leaders are or what the new items are. Since these games are called Sun and Moon I think we are either going to see some new legendary Pokemon that fit the criteria of relating to the Sun and Moon or Solrock and Lunatone will have a big impact on this game. Honestly, Solrock and Lunatone are very underused and I think  mega evolution or just a plain evolution could help boost how good they are and turn two neglected Pokemon in to viable members of anybodies team.

I am also quite surprised the new games are coming so early since Pokemon X and Y were just released only 2 years ago and by the time Sun and Moon are released it would be 3. Which is a little short of a time period in between but I am pretty sure they did that with Gen 5 and Gen 6 so I am sure this game will not be a huge letdown since Gen 6 turned out quite fine.

awesomeguy279:
As far as I am aware, the short timeframe is entirely due to Game Freak and Nintendo wanting Sun and Moon out this year for the twentieth anniversary. It would be a lot less special otherwise, so we've forgone a sister game in Gen VI for a new generation entirely. Personally, I like that they did that, and it makes it all the more meaningful to give us new content instead of reusing the region and roster.

They will announce the official starters, official legendaries, official male/female protagonists, maybe the official rivals, and the offical region in Sun and Moon this coming Friday (Japan's time which would technically be this Thursday night in the United States).

So, I am looking forward to this Thursday night to see more info on Sun/Moon.

I'm excited to see where they take Gen 7 and all the new Pokémon added. Hopefully they'll add some features to spice up the battle a little, and implement more side-quests and a better overall story in general. That's just me though, I'm getting tired of the same old thing. And hopefully the legendaries are cool as heck

Mynamescox44 : Well Gen 6 did introduce mega evolutions, and that was a pretty big thing, and still is, so I don't see a reason why they wont introduce something else that's crazy, and well, since the games imply space, I do believe there might be a new feature that involves something regarding outer space or something.

I'm personally really hoping for some form of space travel, because that would be amazing. Also imagine how big the map could potentially be! If they did something like Heart Gold and Soul Silver with multiple different regions, I think I'd never stop playing.

I'm excited for this. I think its going to add a new form to the mega evolution. I would envision the pokemon turning entirely golden with even greater increased stats.

Final Weapon :

Honestly, I think that may be a bit too extreme. Pokemon has always been pretty balanced in terms of gameplay and things like that can in essence break the whole game. Pokemon are supposed to just be wild animals, and the Mega Evolutions are slightly out there, but I feel like going past that to god-like power is a little too much, if not clichéd.

I'd personally prefer not to see any big gameplay changes, especially since X and Y already had two of them (Megas and Fairy) and just see a new experience on the previous mechanics, especially since they work so well.

Well, Game Freak has said that they will officially announce all the content that'll be in Sun/Moon including the starters, legendaries, male/female protagonist, the region, and everything on May 10th at 9:00 P.M Japan time, which will be 7:00 A.M (Vizzed/Central US time) on May 10th. So, as soon as we all get up in the morning here in the US/Canada, we'll hear news about Sun/Moon.

Hope 5th time is the charm.

So what do we have here? Well we have 4 presets of male characters and 4 for females, unknown as of yet if the player is customizable, but I'll assume and hope they are. The region is confirmed to be based on Hawaii, as some have already guessed and the name of the region is... Alola... rlly? XP And best of all, the first five confirmed pokemon of the 7th gen, the starters and mascot legendaries! The grass pokemon, rowlet, an owl with a new unique grass move called leafage, litten, a stuck up looking fire cat that SPITS FLAMING HAIRBALLS!? WHAAAAAAAAAAT!?!? And then the water type, popplio, a seal similar to a circus animal that uses hard bubbles to perform tricks and stuff. Then the two legendaries, for pokemon sun, a lion legendary that looks like a digimon, and a bat/dragon thingy for pokemon moon that reminds me of cressalia ironically. Also, release date is November 18th in America. So far e-e
So far e-e

I've just seen the game covers, and I almost thought that the Legendary in Sun was Mega Pyroar

I'm quite pleased with Rowlet, it has a type combination rarely seen before (three of them were the Hoppip line, which was very crappy stat-wise, the fourth was Tropius and the last was Shaymin's alternate form). The other starters are pretty common, but I wouldn't ditch out a secondary type for their second evolution (not gonna try to guess or create a discussion about the possible choices).

Following a bit of logic, the giant lion Pokemon should be Fire-type (it's colored like Reshiram, you know?) and the winged Pokemon should be Dark-type. The former is totally possible, but the latter can probably be changed into something else, its bright colors aren't a trend within Dark-types, so I'm guessing Psychic or Fairy, with tiny chances for Ghost.

Quite a big change to set the new region outside of Japan for the first time in two decades. Definitely something new and refreshing to include. I can't wait to see what else do these two hide for us in the upcoming six months before it's released!
