So other members inspired me to make this thread. I basically just thought it would be fun with a thread to talk and share pictures of scam emails or ads you've seen/gotten like the infamous nigerian prince scam email where someone who is supposedly a rich nigerian prince asks you for your bank details or money. They'll usually promise to give your money back once they do which supposedly shouldn't take long along with a big amount of interest but of course the whole thing is a lie and whatever you do send you're not getting back.

Doesn't neccessairly have to be exactly that. I've seen a lot of links as well like those who state that you've won an iphone or something posing as some major company and wants you to fill out your personal details or redirects to a virus, which are usually made funny considering the spelling. I'm sure most people must've seen that one at some point

What makes this more funny is as you can probably tell by the text in yellow I'm not american. It's funny how hard they're trying to get you to click their links. There was a lot of other stuff too like an email saying there's a child predator in my area and I should protect my child even though I have no kids and I'm 16 lol. Telling me about some apparently amazing flashlight that I guess is supposed to be the only thing I've ever wanted, I'm not sure why these emails seem to think I'm a really republican pro gun person. What was most interesting about that particular email though was that this pic was at the end of it:

Which I just thought was funny because of how random it was and the horrible grammar compared to the rest of the email.

Anyways yeah think most people have encoutered something of the sort throughout their internet ventures so if you have go ahead and share your story for a good laugh and maybe even help people not fall for it in the future.
 

Zlinqx : Wow. These really are...Something else. xD The first two are rather common spam/virus emails around here. I think staying on Vizzed triggered some kind of adbot.

Unfortunately all I get from my email are Google+ notifications, you know, because I totally signed up for that out of free will. That and late notifications that mrfe is streaming on Twitch. Way to be late guys.

A user of this : I think the first one about some scandalous video is pretty common as well, not many more effective baits than getting political lol, this wasn't my primary email address, which I've managed to keep pretty free of these emails despite getting a ton of notifications and stuff, it's an older email address I made when I first started using the Internet so naturally there are a lot of weird things on it because of that.

Zlinqx : the weirdest E mail I ever received was from someone I don,t know claiming to be president OBAMA,s wife the message said:URGENT MESSAGE! THIS IS OBAMA,S WIFE! PLEASE READ! I deleted it as soon as I saw it thinking that it might contain a virus

So just adding some more weird emails I found, I got this one who asked me if I suffer from the negative effects of smoking, because apparently I have a smoking problem *takes out chocolate cigarette*. What made it really weird and funny though was that it started going into detail about the effects of smoking and at some point it seems like the original writer forgot how to spell completely.

But seriously, I've never gotten email like that, but I've gotten ads <.<. And popups. Popups that my flash wasn't up to date even though it WAS, and one time recently (I think it was December) I went on a website and got redirected to a site where apparently Firefox was surveying me and might give me money or something :p. I was using Firefox (still is), but I doubt Firefox would give me money just for doing a survey.

I get these all the time, a lot in fact, like a dozen a day from various places. Whether its someone saying I have a million dollars to claim, that the FBI is after me for something, that I missed my appointment with Sherlock Holmes, etc.

They can be funny at times but for the most part I just hate them.

Glad all of you aren't me, half of these emails and ads I get are NSFW (meaning very explicit content inappropriate for the site), so I explain them as PG as possible. It's mostly emails where these "single women" wants to go out with me and do other things. I immediately trash these because I like being single without needing anyone, and two, it might be a disgusting slob on the other end, so no thank you.


Another one is trying out some drugs. Those get trashed as well, because hello, my mind is weird enough.

I started to get emails about filling out life insurance and applying for social security, I'm like "I'm not that old yet, I'm only 22, I'm not an old geezer"


I seen a junk email I got that broke the space-time continuum.
It said I missed a voicemail at 2:03 AM on January 23rd, 2016 and the email was sent at 8:03 PM on January 22nd, 2016. How is that physically possible, if it was international, it would still say the same time.

Ugh I get so many of those it is so annoying. Although the first time I got one I was so excited and thought I really had some money. Later Googled it and well there goes my dream car lol. Latest was from a job ad in Craiglist for mystery shopper to which I replied to and then got responses from like three different people with different names and mailed me a check to deposit on my account and buy Green Dot prepaid Cards at Wal-Mart for $500 each. Thank God my bank was smarter than me and told me about it. It didn't seem to odd because at the time I was purchasing many of those cards to add money to my college card so it didn't seem to odd but, the amount of people involved I should have guessed. Now, I don't believe anything of that nature.

As of late, I keep getting texts from spammers asking me to sign up for health insurance. I have their number and now I'm just trying to decide what to do with it to get a little revenge. Maybe sign their number up for numerous things on the internet? Who knows.


If anyone has any sites I can sign them up for that would be funny, let me know!

I get spam emails sometimes, but it's mostly just boring crap about pharmacy scams and NSFW stuff. Honestly, I want to get more spam emails, just so I can have something to laugh at.

On the other hand, I run into a few calls and advertisements that try to do the same kind of thing. I was browsing around an obscure website, and I had my adblock off because I wanted to see what it's like to browse the internet without adblock for an extended period of time. When I tried to click on the page, it opened a pop-up tab with a blatantly fake BSOD shouting at me to call a certain number to fix my computer. Needless to say, I didn't call that number.

I am saying this a lot in chat, but i'm gonna say for the people who don't chat at all: I get 22 empty pages as spam when i click a link. Actually, i get spam on every single link i click.

(Note: I don't have anything against people using Firefox, it's just that i prefer Google Chrome and my Firefox is as good as dead because of spam.)
