For me: I'd say no.  A lot of reviews get plaragized,  and I get a ton of notifications from either old thread of mine or recent ones because people are chasing the blue jersey.

And I don't think they are aware that they're bumping old threads while spreeing .

I also happen to think that It tends to annoy moderators just as much, due to the nature of them being the ones that have the responsiblity to look after each member and ensure that the users are  not cheating.
That's also one of the reasons, I don't like the feeling that I'm constantly being watched when I'm posting something.

Note: That this thread isn't mean't to offend any current competitor in the tdv right now or anything along the lines of that, so if you get that impression from this thread I apologize.
And if this thread is a dupe feel free to summon the locals or close it if you are a local.

So what's your thoughts? Do you enjoy the tdv? Do you have other reasons you might not enjoy it?

Lemme know below.

If it wasn't for spammers spamming all over the place, TdV wouldn't of been too bad. I feel like if others learn self-control, they yes, TdV can be quite fun an exiting.

Sure, coming from a past winner of TdV, it takes a whole lot to dodge all that spam garbage. That is why I only did 3 TdVs, and after the 3rd one (the one I won), I didn't bother competing in anymore.

So, my opinion, TdV would be great without all the spammers.

I don't really remember seeing more spam than there usually is during non-TdV seasons. Then again, that could be just me going around the site like crazy and ignoring everything else around me, since I really wanna win. :p

I do enjoy TdV season other than that. I like seeing notifications for me, and TdV is one of those times when you see notifications the most.

I'm pretty sure a thread like this has been made and it makes david sad to see so many people don't like it

But I'm choosing no. I don't hate it, but I don't really care about it so it's still a no

I do enjoy TDV but not for myself. I like to watch others compete in it. I stay busy alot with work so I am not able to compete like I want to. I like to see who wins though it's enjoyable for me.

I didn't feel annoyed in October, but that's probably because Fall is the least active TdV, and thus didn't need extra modding from us. January will be different, I've already had to close many Christmas-related and/or repeated threads, and we have just begun.

Lately, there hasn't been that much spam. The TdVs from 2015 saw very few DQs, so let's hope this trend continues. Also, there aren't as many plagiarized reviews as in non-TdV months. The overall quality of posts descends, it's true, and many old threads get bumped, that seems to not change.

I just got two notifications about someone rating two posts of mine made in early December, and I'm sure I'll get more for people rating my reviews or guides. I'm also expecting an extra dose of summons, so I'll have to check Notifications twice as often. While that can be annoying, no competition is free from annoying moments or things, so we just have to deal with it.

For Europeans like me it's not fun to compete. I've lost at least half a dozen daily jerseys for not being able to be online during the last 3-4 hours of the day, and pulling all nighters affects negatively your health. For example, now it's 1 AM here, and there are still six hours to compete for the first jerseys of the TdV.

There are a bunch of things I hate about the TDV, whether its replying to long posts quickly which should be impossible, and when old threads that haven't been replied to in a month get replies, but other than that I love it because it gives other users more places to post. There's more discussions and more threads that are being made more frequently so there's always more to do.

I like it. Most people hate it because "of spam" but to be fair, there's really not that much spam going on. Plus, most boards are active meaning I can see some new threads I wouldn't normally or get a better discussion.

I like to participate for a bit, as I thing during the TdV I'm decently active (More than usual, at least) but overall I don't think I have a chance to win unless I really buckle down and decide to actually give some effort.

Yes, I do think the TdV is a good idea. I don't see the hate behind it.

I thoroughly enjoy the TdV and I always have ever since the first time I competed in it. I understand why many people don't like it, but I haven't seen near as much spam as there used to be in the TdV months. In fact, I used to be one of those users flooding the boards with spam during the TdV but now I've learned from my mistakes.

The TdV motivates me to make new threads and to be more active on the boards, and that's what makes me happy. Not just winning some points, but some milestones and even some friends along the way.

I actually really enjoy the TDV. I find it very fun to compete to wear jerseys and banners for a day, or possibly for a month if I can. Seeing those stats raise on my profile and moving up the rankings on the hall of fame page is awesome!

I'm sort of in the middle on this one. I do enjoy it a lot more than I used to but I also find it to be a lot more of a headache compared to normal months because of the increase in site activity.

And it sort of bugs me that we can manage 500 posts a day in a TdV month but most normal month days sit around 250 posts per day. I just wish people would post at an amount somewhere in the middle all the time rather than high in TdV months and low otherwise.

geeogree : Yeah I agree with you on that. Why just post on TDV months? I know it's rewarding if you win Viz wise but even if you post as much during a non tdv month it would be twice as rewarding Viz wise rather than just getting half of the Viz you would get not posting as much in a non tdv month. You also can still get a fire username on non tdv months. I think that's cool enough.

Okay, my full honest opinion.

First of all, I don't hate Davidio for making it. I think it was wise on some levels, and I understand the idea. He's put a lot of work into this website, but I don't think that a competition based on posting really. . . helps.

When we talk, or type. The words we say should be well placed and meaningful. If words are used in vast amounts, and just placed anywhere, they can become meaningless. And I for one don't read meaningless posts. Why should anyone make posts which no one would want to read?

The Blue Jeresy does not directly make that happen, but so far, I can think of at least one user who's won it by doing just that. . . making really small and insignificant posts that just. . . irritate me.

Also, when a forum exists to have fun on, and post. . . why do we need a competition based upon it? I mean, shouldn't competitions be made to bring out and celebrate creativity? Comparing and showing off fun things, or seeing who's better at a certain skill?

Think about what TDV is, it is LITERALLY a competition that's based on. . . talking! In a sense! But at the same time that's not wrong. I wouldn't mind if people had fanfiction competitions, (Which this year I have been satisfied with thanks to Tornadomudkip!) Or even contests based on Game articles. (Though that's more limiting, as there are only so many good or interesting things that can be said about the gaming world each month. Even game theories can begin to run dry. There's a reason I don't make more. . . it's because I've already posted or discussed most all of mine! XD)

I feel that the competition really isn't bad in the face of most jerseys. The green and red jerseys comes from content added most of the time and actions taken. The yellow jersey isn't bad because usually those who care to make large posts will at least put a lot of thought in them, and that's something I feel we need more of on this site. The blue jersey though I feel is horrible. I can't say I've seen anyone earn it besides Singeli, who actually deserved it for putting something good on the site. The rest of the posts which contributed to it? I either can't remember the others who did it, or the main winners. . .

I HATE the fact that people are rewarded for making as many, nearly meaningless posts in a short period of time.

The blue jersey is my main problem.

So many times people have talked about TDV. So many people have made adjustments, but the main complaints have always stuck around, and that's the fact that it causes spam. People are running around to look for places to post, in order to gain a prize. I don't know, maybe this is a system that actually works, and I bet it does- for some people. Other's just don't care, and it appears to me that people might actually be waiting till this time of year before they actually DO care to post. It's almost like. . . people are waiting till now to talk. . . rather than talking for the sake of talking. They're doing it for competition, and that adds a layer to fakeness to it.

Even I won't work much harder on TDV even for the yellow jersey. If anything, when I've really wanted it, I'd port my latest project I've had in storage and bring it over here. And if I didn't win any yellows? Oh well, it's not like it was a big deal to me.

Speaking as a Mod, I don't mind it all. So no worries. We're here to ensure quality and such, and that's what we do all the time. If we have to work, well, we're called forum staff because it is work. That's my outlook on it.

As for bumping old threads, that isn't against rules and I actually like seeing it happen because it boosts discussion and revives threads that most often were worth saying something to. I wish people would bump more often instead of shying away from threads that are only a few days old.

I appreciate anything that boosts site activity. And spammers spam every month, so no big deal. Lol Now I can respect people's opinions and their right to express those opinions, much like you have here (so I am not talking about your thread or opinion at all), but I do get aggravated with people that constantly feel the need to criticize the TdV. I mean nobody makes them post during those months and they can avoid the forums until it ends if they want. Not to be rude to those people by any means, but please, don't try to discourage the healthy activity boost that we need so badly around here lately. Besides, TdV participants compete because it's fun for them. Now nobody wants others walking into the room with them to complain about the game that they happen to be enjoying, so look at the TdV the same way: it's good clean fun, why ruin it by griping that it's TdV month? Again, not talking about people who are respectful about sharing an opinion on it. Just those that harp about it being horrible bug me.

And I do agree with geeogree that it would be nice to see some of the eagerness to post on display during the TdV at work all year long.

I didn't realize so many people didn't like TdV compared to how many people do like it. How could you all be so heartless. ;-;

LunarDarkness2 : You need to see where they are coming from, and the reason why. I am another and no one is being heartless. Please remember lunar not everyone will not like what you like and you will need to respect their opinion if you can. If not then bear it down.

I don't like the tdv I've stopped competing from when it WAS fun in the past. But now not. I have come to love posting more often but I set that as on non tdv months so then at least I have the freedom I want to post as much as I like happily and while having fun as well. I'm not going to explain why I don't like the tdv some people have already done that for me on this thread. '-'

Eniitan : You do know I'm being sarcastic about the heartless part, right?

Just because someone has a different opinion than me doesn't mean they're heartless, I know that.

Oh dear, here we go again

Why do people, trimester after trimester, keep whining about Tour de Vizzed? In my opinion this is what makes this website great. Sure, there may be *some* spam and plagiarizing but it usually gets caught pretty quickly.

If you hate it so much, do not participate and avoid the forums. Simple as that.

janus :

Because it's simple.

It's not so much as the tour de vizzed's fault in reality, it's just the fact that the concept of the blue jersey fails.

With the blue jersey going for whom makes the most post in a day, it encourages people to quickly post rather than take their time and post something meaningful.

Now if it's something like a forum game or post in the crazy house I understand that, as not much can be said. But in general topics: Post Quality>Post quanity should be the general rule of the blue jersey.

And it also encourages people to bump up old threads(You'd know you'd done it to my old threads back in october 2015)

I wouldn't mind the tdv so much if people actually take care and consideration before posting, but no appearently a jersey is all that's needed for everything to break lose on this site.
It's really disappointing and annoying.
Also: I'm not gonna avoid the forums simply due to me disliking the TDV.

The forums are voices for opinions,  and making friends.

If you can't take criticism or hate on something, you don't tell people to don't be on the forums, that's not how the internet works.

SuperCrash64 : Since I became an admin I have been able to see that there is usually a pretty close monitoring of the top posters as to avoid abuses. True, some might "slip away" but I would say that the largest abuse are usually contained.

The only "complain" I would have for the Tour is the green jersey. It is highly skewed towards admin with "easy" jobs like screenshot adding, which increases the number of actions tremendously.
