Hello and welcome to 2016's first Tour de Vizzed Team Competition!

This time around we're doing something very unique and completely different from the usual Team Competitions;
For the first time in TdV history, you'll be able to make and build your own team!

This means that you can use this thread to either create a team and be that team's captain or you can join a team as long as that team's captain approves. Captains can also choose their team name. Team signups will be open for the entire month, meaning that you can create / join teams throughout all of January.

Of course to make this balanced you can only be part of one team throughout the competition so it's easier to keep track of and to make it more fair.

There will also be a max of 3 people / team so more teams will have a shot at winning and we can get around the same number of teams we usually have.

Of course like any Team Competition there will also be prizes that you can earn:

10,000 Viz
If your team wins and you make the top 3 overall in the Tour de Vizzed

5,000 Viz
If your team wins and you make the top 5 overall in the Tour de Vizzed
OR
If your team gets 2nd and you make the top 3 overall in the Tour de Vizzed

2,500 Viz
If your team wins and you make the top 10 overall in the Tour de Vizzed
OR
If your team gets 2nd and you make the top 5 overall in the Tour de Vizzed
OR
If your team gets 3rd and you make the top 3 overall in the Tour de Vizzed

I think you should set a limit right now of the max number of people who can be on a team. Like, 2 or 3 people max. With only 3 people per team you can easily see 3-5 strong teams come about.

I suppose that would work. I figured I'd give users the chance to make balanced teams by themselves and intervene if it wouldn't work out, but a limit right away would prevent a one sided competition anyway.

This time the team competition thread was created before the regular one! This is definitely going to be a really interesting competition. I'm still debating whether or not I want to be a captain or wait to join a team. Either way this will be fun

I guess I will create a team and hopefully we can do good. Anybody can apply but I will probably let a good amount of people request to join before I pick the two.

By only having 3 on each team, it might be harder for some teams to score a lot of points though, especially after the active users are claimed.

zanderlex : Cool, I'll add you to the list. As the captain of your team you can decide on the team name Don't make it too long though.

And while that's true, it's better than to have all the active users sit in 1 or 2 teams (which would make it boring).

Hmm, at first I thought about not participating in this Team contest, but I've now changed my mind. I'll go ahead and create a team.

Furret : I have to say your idea has to be one of the best. Because usually one way or another when someone comes up with ideas for this. It wouldn't be fair to other people. This may bring back some others who stopped competing because of that reason.

I really hope this is going to go better than the last team competition. It's completely unique so hopefully that will help raise activity.

Furret : What happens if time goes by and barely anybody joines the teams? Like what if people just keep creating their own teams or not enough people are actually interested in the Team Competition? Most people are used to being automatically put into the team competition so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them think that they are already added and that they don't need to come here until points are scored.

zanderlex : If I notice that all people are doing is creating their own team then I'll put a stop to it so people will have to join a team. If I wouldn't then there would be no point in this. 

This is something a lot of people have wanted for a long time and it has always been something users complained about in past TdV's, so if it doesn't work out then that will probably be the end of Team Competitions for a while. 

Speaking of teams, I never received the Vizzed from the Fall Tour for my win. Not that I NEED it, but it would be nice to have them.

Anyway, if people want me I can join a team. Just PM me and I will join the first one that reaches me.

Furret : Oh...ok then cool. Its a great idea he came up with. So then things will be equally and fair as well with competitors.

I want to be a llama. I know I'll be a valuable member of the team, because I usually get sleep deprived around these times. Aahahahah. Help me...

Only if it was a 2-manned team, it would be both me and Vanelan, we both won't have a leader, we would basically be co-leaders. But it's a 3-manned team, so it will be hard to have a 3-manned team in a team meant for 2 people.

Interesting format. It should be interesting to see how this works out. I don't really aim for points, so I guess I'm out of this.

Furret : Last team competition was incredibly good, and I know it because I hosted it. You probably are referring to the July one, where staff versus non-staff was a clearly unbalanced competition. I also agree that if this format doesn't work out, the Team Competition could probably be discontinued until David implants the automated format.

EX Palen : They tried to see on how TdV went without a Team Competition back in April 2015, and it was 50/50. People like the idea without any groups, but at the same time, others got upset about it.

Personally, it depends on what the theme is and who's is in what team.

I feel like it might be a little one sided because active members wants active members, and inactive members are stuck with inactive members.
