You know, 2015 is coming to a close and you hear some big movies like Star Wars VII, Jurassic World, Minions, and movies like those getting MofY (Movie of the Year) and there are other movies released in 2015 (and years prior) that are really good (in fact, better that any of the so called "MofY" movies) but got criticized because they didn't turn to par with the vast majority of people out there. But some of you still think these movies are great.

An underrated movie I really like was the movie Pixles which was released this past Summer (2015), it's a movie where video game character (pre-1983 characters) came alive by alien forces and wants to battle with the human race. Tell you the truth, this has been one of the best movies I have in fact seen this year and I personally didn't like any of the reviews it received like "It's an Adam Sandler movie, of course it's going to suck", it doesn't really matter who acts in it, if the storyline is good and the theme is interesting, that is all that matters.


What about you, is there an underrated movie out there you think that are better than the MofY garbage (note, it doesn't have to be in 2015, it can be any year)

Before I even opened this, I was already thinking of pixels, the movie looked great and was hilarious, it just seems like everyone hates whatever Sandler does now. Another one is Transcendence, that had a great story but on rotten tomatoes was worth like 20%.

One of the movies I see as underrated is Pixels. Although I can see why people don't like it, it doesn't need to get this many negative comments about it.

Another underrated movie I liked is The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which came out on May 3, 2014. This is my favorite Spider-Man movie out of all the current ones, so I don't really understand why there's this much negativity about it. Some people say the character who played Electro didn't get enough plot development, but I think what he got is fine. Others complain about the lack of screen time Green Goblin had, and I can understand that. However, I think the reason for that is to give off a greater dramatic effect, and it sure did with me.

Pixel is one zander beat me to that lol also amazing superman 2 the first film was a real hype and it seems that the second movie wasn't really as popular as the first one sadly. I want to say inside out though I may be wrong about that being underrated movie. There are other films but I have seen to forgot them sadly. If I d remember them I'll come back and post here. '-'

Honestly, one underrated, (though more over hated than overrated) movie I thought was good was The Master of Disguise. It was a comedy which came out back in 2002 and for some reason, is considered to be one of the worst movies of all time. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 1%, yes, they gave it 1%. I don't know how to define "underrated except maybe a score under 8.0 from IMDB or maybe Rotten Tomatoes or something.

The Beach, with Leonardo DiCaprio, as absolute genius and a great movie.  The story isn't so much and some of the sequences make you shake your head and cringe but after absorbing the movie for the bigger picture, it's just fantastic.  It has the multi-layer thing going for it, like how 1990s Clueless is amazing and deep.  It's the same idea.

Go back and watch The Beach once or twice.  Let it simmer.  Meditate on what the true message is.  Tell me what you think.

gamerforlifeforever2 : Master of Disguise happens to be my brother's favorite movie, he told me that he doesn't know why it got an extremely low score because the movie got an interesting storyline, and the acting was great.

I'd have to say Eagle Eye (2008) really didn't deserve all the flak it got. Its Rotten Tomatoes score is less than half that of even Transformers. Why? It's like Transformers, not a lot of intelligence, but loads of explosive fun!

Speaking of Transformers, the entire series has little to offer with story or character depth or anything but it's Michael Bay we're talking about here. His movies are about action and action only. If you don't like that, move on to other, more sophisticated work.

I haven't seen this movie in a long while so I don't really remember if it really was good or not but Real Steel is what I would go with it's sorta like Pokémon in a way with how the battles/fights work but with robots instead of the Pokèmons

Equilibrium.  Yes it was released after The Matrix and wardrobe wise, it looked like the cast literally just walked from the Matrix set on to the Equilibrium set, but the story for me was quite unique.  I would say this is a must for every sci-fi fan.

Blue Brothers 2000. I watched it when I was younger and thought it was great - just discovered that apparently it didn't do so great, and has a poor rating. I watched it not long ago and I still love it.

Droog : I agree lol. I also like how they tied in John's death to the beginning of the film instead of replacing him as an actor.

Being the artist that appreciate's animation and musicals so much, I'd say Cat's Don't Dance is a movie that's underrated and is pretty good-- in my opinion. Before I say anything else-- yes, I grew up with this movie and yes, I re-watched it again to see it through a different set of eyes.

Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 6.4, while IMDB gave it a 6.9. Now, I understand that the pacing seemed a bit fast and some of the shots felt  "clipped" for some angles. However, it did win the Best Animated Feature award back in 1997-- plus it's not made by Disney. Such a feat to even accomplish, and with good animation quality, music, and the casting-- as well. I'm kind of sad and disappointed that people gave it a poor rating.

Anyways, those are my thoughts on the movie.

Kuti_Kat : I'll follow your lead here and go with All Dogs Go To Heaven. IMBd gave it a 6.7, and Rotten Tomatoes only a 50% as well as a 50% from MetaCritic. That's extremely disappointing to see. I don't know if it was popular or not because I was so young at the time, but the reviews certainly don't do it justice. It's one of the best animated children's films of all time (to me anyway).
