Zlinqx : Oh dear sorry to hear about it. When organizing something for Christmas it is pretty stressful in a way and you can see why. So I don't blame you that you dislike the Christmas hunting. @.@

TristanTehGamer1 : Yeah I figured...I remember you telling me of this in pm some months ago when we were talking about your family and how upset you was at the time. :/

Eniitan : This is Spain, if your mind can think of a low move, it will happen here first most of the times, unless Donald Trump gets ahead of us.

I don't clearly remember the motive for their absence that day, but I think it was because they disagreed the hours they worked. Think about it: is there a better way to make everyone hear your statements that delivering a blow as massive as that one? There isn't, but those jerks didn't give a damn about anyone else besides their own comfort.

I think it hasn't happened since then, at least not on such a high level where the whole airport was paralyzed for 15 hours or so. I've heard of the workers for some airlines have stopped working as a protest for something at any given time, but that's as far as it gets, you can still be replaced in another flight to the same destination.

Expanding on my last post, there was also the AVIS episode. AVIS is a car-rental company, which saved our neck in Koln last April, but this time they fell from heaven. We rented a car for our stay at Frankfurt, but upon getting there, they told us they had no car available (we were 8 people). Due to them saving our neck on another trip, we gave them some trust, despite the bad stories we've heard about them (it's a Spanish company after all), but we won't be counting on them any longer, and I'll make sure nobody I know ever trusts them. 

The only really negative thing is an uncle I have.

This guy, unfortunately, is really loud, loves to talk and hold court at family gatherings and he's always right, no matter what he says.  That's not a big deal if he's always right about "ice cream tastes good" and "Nazis were bad in the 1940s" but he picks things that are polarizing, criticizes and attacks everyone who has the other point of view, and sits there and laughs, waiting for everyone to agree with him.  It kills me because he'll never change his ways and I, for better or for worse, agree with about 70% of the things he says.

But then there are things I don't agree with and he looks to me like a yes-man to back him up.  If I don't, it gets irritating.  The guy can't be escaped and we only hope to load him up on whiskey and wine so he has to go home a little earlier than usual.
Outside of that, things are great.

The most annoying me the most about the holidays is the holidays themselves. When you're in a store such as Walmart, you need to triple your time in the store because you got like a lot is people standing around like idiots that doesn't know how to shop and got cart full of useless junk like they're getting prepared for the apocalypse, and add insult to injury, you have to listen to non-stop Christmas music. All this makes me want to say "Hurry up January 2nd so the holidays are over with".

To me, the most annoying thing that can happen during the holidays is sickness. Last year, I was sick for over a week during Christmas break, and it completely ruined the experience for me. The entire month of November and most of December, I manage to make it through just fine, but as soon as Christmas break comes around, I end up getting a cold. 

The decorating is also quite tedious as well. Just hauling down the decoration boxes and setting them in the living room takes an hour, and decorating the entire house (inside and out) probably takes more than 6 hours. I'm just glad its up now though. 

During the holidays it is basically Murphy's Law in overdrive. Annoying would be people ripping on you,when you are trying to play nice. Another one I could name was the year I had to search 5 different stores for solar powered Christmas Lights for my folks. And I had to make a return trip because the first ones did not work. Or if you are like me,I wait until a week before the blasted day and then look through WalMart for stuff. I always say I will just give cash,but I want people to have something to open.

As usual in any family gathering it is my brother eating everything.  Then there's someone starting up a fight over something stupid, like say the dumb aunt saying something stupid that pisses off one of my uncles.

As for in general around the holidays its mostly the horde of tourists running around and clog up the usual markets and eateries.  They always give you this look like you were the rude one or like you are going to swipe their purse just because you live in my city.  This also happens a lot around summer but Christmas has the added irritation of all the bells and obnoxious holiday clothing.  There's also a lot more of the horse carriage rides in the area and I have an unexplained phobia fear wariness of horses.

May God help you if you go to a store around this time of year.  The lines, everything of interest is pretty much gone from the shelves, and what remains is often just junk.  Bright side is that there's that one brand of good and thick candy canes that will last me a few months easily and some stores carry some really nice stuff that goes on sale for dirt cheap right after Christmas.

As for decorating?  Well, as time has passed we've just seen less and less point of decorating the facade outside of a wreath on the door.  Why bother?  Especially considering how much Christmas decorations can cost.  The inside on the other hand we just put some nice tablecloths, change the throw-pillows, and that's pretty much it.  We used to have one of those big assembled Christmas faux-trees that looked just as nice as the real thing without all the mess but the cats kept climbing up it and knocking down various ornaments so its just easier and safer to have a decorative tree roughly the size of a bonsai tree.

EX Palen : I'm sorry to say this but that is the poorest thing I have ever heard. Not about you. But of these people who do things and get away with it. Also about the last sentence that you have there its really sad to see Spain can't trust one another because of things. So its now not safe to live in Spain? At least you and your family managed to get to get where you need to go....palen always take care I worry for my friends a lot.

Ghostbear1111 : Oh no...anything but that. I am sure I have some distance relives of the sort. So you are not alone on that problem I really am sorry to hear the type of person your uncle is. Maybe one day you'll move and wouldn't have to see him ever again right?

IgorBird122 : I can relate to that in a way I have had that happened to me at times. So I make sure that I shop when I need to. And to make sure I don't bump into sort of people who will take the longest to do things. :/

Razor-987 : that's most of us hate happening razor. No one wants to be ill when it comes to the Christmas holidays. Also about the decorating I am sure its not bad always. I can understand at times it will stress you out if it is not up. But now it is. And that gives you some relief. '-'

Oldschool777 : True the most thing I hate being is ripped off for money for no reason. So I take caution of how I do things in a way. >

BlueMagikoopa : Another problem that can be seen....its really sad how things like that happen. Like a petty fight for no reason. Or people giving you mean looks in a way. Because you are visiting their country. And about your cats....keep them under control lol! I'm sure they are just having fun just keep an eye on them. When you have pets anything can happen. ^^

It's nothing like that, it's just that one could say Spain has the highest percentage of jerks per citizen and wouldn't be half wrong. Clearest example: instead of helping us produce our own energy, they impose us taxes. Yep, we have a tax for using the sun's energy as a source to produce electricity. This country has absolutely no way of being saved anymore, it's both a problem of politics and our own mindset.

One of the worst thing that can happen is that say your video game console can break... that you asked for like 10 games for..... it sucks....

Eggbooha: Sorry to hear about that, maybe you'll get too get them soon enough.

That is why you hang onto receipts in case stuff like this happens. Or make a copy for yourself and give the recipient the original. That way if it does not work,does not fit or they want the money instead,they can do it without bothering you.
