What do you think is the greatest song in a Christmas game? Find that game, find the music within that game and record it! Any song in a Christmas game counts and any Christmas song in a non-Christmas game counts. You can do any game in the VGR or RGR.

This will be the first time I've allowed users to use games outside of the Retro Game Room in a music competition. Also, as you can tell by the title of this thread, music competitions will no longer be classified as a 'video competition' but instead will be classified as just a 'music competition' since I plan to expand how these competitions work in the future.



RULES and INFO:
-You can submit up to 5 submissions total
-You can submit up to 2 submissions per a system
-You can submit only 1 song per a game
-Different versions of the same game count as the same game
-Hacks and Homebrew only count if the song is obviously Christmas themed
-You can do winter themed songs as long as they're cheerful or could possibly pass as a Christmas song
-Each submission needs to be 1 video
-Your video cannot contain more than 1 song
-A song cannot be looped more than 2 times per a video
-Videos must be shorter than 5 minutes and longer than 30 seconds
-You cannot edit your video in any way, it needs to be raw footage
-Be sure to let me know in this thread which videos you've uploaded
-Be sure to specify which game each submission is for
-Your videos must be uploaded to the Vizzed YouTube account
-You may use cheats to get to the song you're looking for
-You may do the same game as someone else but not the same song for the same game
-You may use your submissions from previous music competitions
-You cannot do the same song as someone else, even if the same song belongs to a different game (unless the song sounds significantly different)
-You must add your video to the game's page (which should happen automatically when you upload your video to the Vizzed YouTube account)
-Your submission should have as few sound effects as possible (so try not to move or fight enemies and use the sound test whenever possible)
-If 2 users submit the same song to this competition, whichever user uploaded their video to the Vizzed YouTube account first gets credit
-You may use external software for recording only if it doesn't add a watermark

Q = How do I upload videos?
A = Scroll about half way down the page where you see the video area and then click the 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed YouTube'. Here's a screenshot of it:




Tip: If the game lets you listen to each song from the game on the options screen (sometimes referred to as the sound test page), you may do your recording from that. You may also mute all sounds (some games support this in the options) for when you're playing on the level that has the music you want to capture.

Tip 2: It is suggested that you try not to make too many noises in the game when you're attempting to record the music, other noises would be a distraction and will lower the chances of your song from being voted for. If possible, try to stand still on a level.

Tip 3: Before adding a song, check the game's page in the Retro Game Room to see if someone has already submitted that song for that game.

If the game is a christmas hack, then if the music is the same as the game it's based off of, then are we allowed to use that?

Also, I found music in a Super Mario Bros Christmas hack that I want to use, but it isn't christmas themed. Can I submit that, or is that not allowed? If not, then I'm totally stumped.

Question: I want to pick a song from a game, but the game has been ported/released on another console. If I was to use the port version, would that game still be linked to the console it was originally released on? For example, the game I want to use was first released on the Nintendo 64, but was ported onto the Xbox 360. If I used to 360 version, would it still count as a N64 game?

EDIT: Just to add: If a song was used on a game, but was remade for a later song, for example a song being remade and used in Super Smash Bros, would the song count for the original game or Brawl?

DavidMcC1989 : If the game was ported to the Xbox 360 then there should be a page in the VGR for that game that you can upload to. If the game is missing, contact the RGR Staff so that they can get the game's page added.

Davideo7 : I have something I need to ask, I noticed on the Sonic 3D Blast page that mickmick93 made a video a couple of months ago of one of my submissions for this contest, however, he never actually submitted it to the 5th gen contest, (which I'm assuming he was thinking about doing, but he went with Rusty Ruins instead). Would he be allowed to make Diamond Dust Zone Act 1 his submission, or would it go to me since it wasn't actually one of his submissions from that contest?
