If you haven't already heard, Cloud Strife is in Smash Bros as a DLC character! do you think it was inevitable for such a popular character to be in this game,  or hyped and surprised for the footage Nintendo gave out?

I must admit, I was surprised to see him there, knowing that the Final Fantasy series is mostly owned by the PlayStation nowadays.

I do not own that last game (nor do I own a Wii U), but that sure brings a fresh newcomer that everybody is going to enjoy playing, I'm sure of it.

I was probably the best pleasant surprise I've had in awhile. I never expected Cloud to join the Smash roster mainly because everything Final Fantasy VII related has been released on Playstation consoles. Now that he is a part of the roster, I'm going to play as him and see how he is in Smash. So far, there aren't any sword users I use in Smash, so hopefully Cloud will break that trend.

Cloud is now one of out of place characters that somehow get into smash bros like Snake and Ryu before him. I think he has potential to be a great character, and the new stage coming with him seems awesome.

Cloud is a great character concept to me. While I don't know much about Final Fantasy as a whole, I know enough to understand just how much they have to work with for a good and original Smash move set.

...However, my competitive mindset objectively finds him as yet another character I have to learn to play against as Kirby. Because unless the character's a Kirby rep, I will not very likely even secondary them. Such is my life as an unnecessarily stubborn Kirby fan playing competitive Smash.

Overall, though, I'm excited. As a competitive player, I'm kind of obligated to have all DLC characters and legitimate stages that come out (so far the only one is Dreamland 64), so I'll probably end up messing with him from time to time during my escapades to For Glory and online tournaments. I look forward to seeing how he operates.

EDIT: Cloud was very popular, so I didn't discount him from that perspective for being in. However, from a business perspective, this was completely out of left field. Cloud in Smash means that Nintendo actually made a deal with Square. While they were at once partners, their break-up wasn't exactly the best, to put it lightly. Let's just say that they aren't exactly best buddies. I have to suspect that there's some benefit for Square that they foresee, which is probably just "advertising" of sorts for the Final Fantasy VII remake. Also money, but I think the former is a bigger benefit in the long run.

I hope they make an Amiibo for him...I think I am more interested in that than actually playing as him in SSB.

When I first heard about Cloud being part of the Sm4sh roster, I was surprised. No one was expecting him being in the game because he's was mostly on the PlayStation systems, and seeing him on a Nintendo game is quite unexpected.

Either way, I am looking forward on seeing Cloud join the roster.
