SuperCrash64 : Netplay has worked with PlayStation games for quite a while now and it works great if you have a nice enough computer

Awesome ! I have been waiting patiently to play some psx games. With the PlayStation item being free for the rest of the month that will increase my chances of finding new users to netplay with.

cnw64 : Yeah hopefully users also take advantage of the PlayStation netplay and start creating sessions. Keep in mind that users don't ever need the PlayStation item to join a PlayStation netplay session (this was something I made adjustments to a few months ago).

You know I really wish you didn't have to buy the PlayStation at the item shop. I mean why do we have to? And why a a price so big that its like the impossible? Even if we did I bet those's ROMs would be so expensive. I'm sorry if I'm complaining but I just saying.

faing : There are a few reasons actually. I'll list them in order of most important.

1. The games take up a lot of bandwidth. To help make sure that my bandwidth costs don't go through the roof, I try not to make the big game files available to everyone, especially to help avoid tons of users from playing tons of large games. PlayStation would probably be the most popular system on this site if everyone had access to it and I think that would result into crazy bandwidth fees that I just currently cannot afford.

2. Legal reasons. I don't want to give the PlayStation games on vizzed too much exposure or publicity to avoid gaining too much attention from certain game companies. For the longest time, PlayStation games weren't even obtainable by the average user.

3. The games take up a lot of disk space. To help make it worth spending the extra amount per a month for the extra disk space, making them cost Viz means that some users have to give back to the site in order to access the games which helps the site.

4. It's another way to give value to the Viz currency. I'm always trying to make sure the Viz currency has some value to users and I'm always looking to give users reasons to want to earn it. I have a lot of future features that will really give users a lot of things that they'll want to spend it on but until then, I have to find other things and those other things usually involve the RGR.

There might be other reasons I'm forgetting. I hope that helps

faing : It's to keep site costs down.  The cost of the site exceeds the amount of donations per month, usually by quite a bit.  The excess money comes out of David's wallet, and he's not a rich man.  Sometimes he has to even sell his own stuff in order to keep the site going.

I had a question about PlayStation games actually, Now that it's working again/Thanks by the way. 
Since a lot of PlayStation games have multiple disks, for example Koudelka I was playing a few days ago and got to chapter 2. 
Problem was, it told me to insert the disk - I wondered how Vizzed did something like this.

TrixRabbit : You press the Eject button. Once you press it, it turns into a Swap Disc button so you press that again. After all that, the button will turn into an Insert button and you press that to insert the virtual disc. Every time you swap the disc, it goes to the next disc.

Davideo7 : That's pretty cool that you decided to allow everyone to play PS1 games for free for this last week of the month. I know everyone who doesn't already have that item really appreciates it too.

Anyways, I'm glad that the issue's fixed. Once the TDV's over, I can get back to playing PS1 games again! YAY!

My backlog is very shortly getting inched off, but there's over 40,000 games on Vizzed alone. 
Work is cut out for me, I'll try to help anyway I can to keep this wonderful site up. 

gamerforlifeforever2 : I think only around 1000 users have access to PlayStation games so it's a very small percentage of the total users on the site. Hopefully many users see my announcement and take advantage of this.

Well, I feel really happy... now that I see this announcement right after buying the Playstation item. Well, at least I can still play PSX games with no hassle. Thanks, Davideo. Now that I think of it, is the Gamecube system ever going to come to Vizzed?
