TristanTehGamer1 : Some people *actually* write in hopes of getting attention?

Anyway, I just can not stand "slacktivists" who simply post to support a cause because it is in. Take "Je suis Charlie" for example. People were very keen to defend free speech back in January, but now that it is over too many of these people come back to their old habits of wanting to censor those with "disturbing" opinions.

Or worse yet: going back to a state of indifference or of only cherry-picked indignation. You know, blaming ALL gun users for The shooting at a black church in North Carolina but calling for "not generalizing" when a gay, Democratic shooter shot two former coworkers.

Actually, I think this was a thread before, but that wasn't recently at all so this one can definitely stay open.

It drives me crazy when people do anything for attention, whether it's the good kind of attention or the bad kind. Many of my peers in high school do that on a daily basis. Another thing that grinds my gears is when people bring me into their arguments and try to use me to prove that they're right. I don't ever want to get into their arguments. I either ignore them or say "I don't know."

One thing that really grinds my gears is when people bash on Andy Dalton and say that crappy QB's like Sam Bradford and Jay Cutler are better than him, when Dalton's led the Bengals to the playoffs 4 consecutive years, while Bradford's never been in the playoffs and Cutler's only been there like one time.

A bunch of stuff, really. XD

The one that has always bothered me, is when people talk about games, like they know all about it, but have never actually played it. I had this friend of a friend telling me why Wind Waker is the worst LoZ game, because of this and that, and after a while, I realized he never even touched the game. He reads other people's reviews and Wiki, and uses that as an expert opinion. And he does this with tons of games... Like, what the heck? Play the game, then tell me if you don't like it. Don't say you dislike something, because someone's opinion on the Internet made you dislike it.

Another example is that we have a friend that is in love with everything involving Pyramid Head, from Silent Hill 2. Then we found out that she never played the game. So, we made her play it, and... That didn't go well. She can't handle the scary parts... Which is the whole game pretty much. XD  She made it to the save spot on the picnic table, before even seeing a single monster, then gave me the controller. XD  We did make her beat it though.

gamerforlifeforever2 : I don't mean to go off topic on this thread here, but I think the reason why people rag on Andy Dalton the way they do is because of how many playoff WINS he has. He's a great QB sure, but my guy Matt Ryan is sort of in the same boat. Some people say Eli Manning is better than him because he has 2 rings. I feel your pain bro, and I really hope the Bengals and Falcons meet in SB50 to completely shut up the critics about our QBs.

Anyways, I think what really "grinds my gears" the most is why the hell Game of Thrones only airs 10 episodes a year. The show is only on for 2 1/2 months, and then you have to wait the rest of the year for new episodes. But I usually watch the show all the time On Demand to calm my soreness about waiting for the new seasons.

Well, there's a ton of things that grind my gears.

For example, when people try to talk to you when you're occupied by something else. I understand if it's important, but if you're going to talk about that new episode of Spongebob, please. Please note that I am currently doing something that needs my full attention. If I give my attention to you, I won't be able to do what I am doing right now. Just save the conversation when I am done.

Another one is when someone gives you a pop quiz about what you are doing. If you ever try to find me in a room full of people, look for the four corners and walls of the room. One time, my family told me to come and do whatever I'm doing where they're at. So I do just that. Next minute, I am getting interrogated by all of them, "Why are you on your [insert noun here] all the time?" "What are you doing?" "Are you done with your homework?" "What are you laughing about?" all the while they are giving me death stares.

Last but not least, when a person is about to tell you something, but that person says "never mind". If you're going to say something, say it. Don't say "never mind" because if you do, I'll become curious of you and your actions. I'll also start to think you don't trust me and/or are afraid of what I'll say afterwards. It's okay to tell me. I am known for being understandable and won't use my emotions to dictate my actions. *pats back*

Welp, I went a little overboard. Sorry.

You know what really grinds my gears?

A lot. Here are a few gears that have been ground.

First off, what really grinds my gears is attention seeking posts on Facebook. You know exactly what I'm talking about here, the "relation ship goals: oh my gosh I hope my future significant other buys my flowers <3 <3." That stuff drives me insane. On the subject of Facebook, you know what drives me even more insane - so much so that I remove friends if they do it? The pity seeker. The "This happened to me today, followed by this, then I got struck by lightening, and my girlfriend broke up with me because I'm a nice guy, and this also happened." Like, seriously, I know the point of Facebook is to let people know what's going on, but please don't confuse it with a personal diary. We all know what happened, and most of us don't really care. We're just there for the memes and to see what family is up to.

Second, when I order a Medium Rare steak, and they bring it out well done or medium well. Now, I've worked at a restaurant, and I know it gets hectic. It's the main reason I never complain to management, and I always tip even if service was pretty bad. If there's one thing though that will ruin my day, it's when my steak is cooked wrong. They're not cheap, and I don't want to ask for another one to replace it because then I have to wait another 15 minutes to eat. Usually I suck it up and eat it, but it still grinds my gears big time. There's a very large difference between well done and medium rare, and we need to get with the program on that department for a few restaurants.

Thirdly, it grinds my gears when people tell me smoking is bad for me. I know full well that smoking is bad for me, and I tell all non-smokers to never start - to which they usually call me a hypocrite - but I digress. If you think that by this day and age that I don't know tobacco is bad, you're crazy. It's hard to quit, near impossible really. So give me a break, and know that I am fully aware it's bad for my health. As a side note, if you don't smoke, do not ever start. Trust me, it's going to be one of the hardest things to quit doing in your life. The best way to quit, is to never start.

Let's finish strong with a fourth gear that meets the grind. Disrespect for the elderly. When I see people my age disrespecting the elderly, I get so frustrated. I've seen 20 year olds yell at an old man before, and I just couldn't help but scratch my head. These people contributed to society and don't deserve to be treated like that. I'm not just talking about people who are retired either, I'm talking about people who are 20+ years older than you are. I don't care if your boss is totally nuts, she earned her place there and has a lot more experience in the world than you. So listen when they talk, fix what they tell you to fix, and appreciate that they are sharing what they know with you. Disrespect is the biggest gear grinder I can think of.

I'm Peter Griff- wait.. I'm SkilledTree, and that's what really grinds my gears.

Kuti_Kat : I could not agree more with your points... They were all what was stirring in my head as I was reading the prior comments on this thread... The only other thing that you did not have in your post was when people call for you in a different room or even floor of your house, but they only yell your name... I swear... I am almost always doing something that I feel is worth my time, so don't you dare yell my name and not give any further explanation of what you want.... That forces me to walk all the way to where ever they are at just to find out what they want.... It honestly kills me... I know that if they were doing something and I randomly yelled their name with no explanation forcing them to walk all the way to me to find out that they wanted me to get them a drink or something... They would be very upset... It is so very inconsiderate... I do not understand why you would do it...

People who hate things just because they're "mainstream" or "popular." Nothing makes me more angry than when people with nothing better to do actively seek out popular things and just completely crap on them. Or, if they liked them before, but as soon as they become popular, they drop it and begin bashing them. Criticism for something is one thing; constantly telling someone how awful something is is another. For example, Attack on Titan. Before it became popular, there was a ton of positive feedback, but the minute everyone began getting into it, it became the worst anime to ever be born. And most people that do it haven't even played/seen/experienced it. It's one thing to have played/experienced/seen something and dislike it; it's another to just hate it because "it looks bad" or "it seems bad lol."

Man that really drives me up the wall.

When you are playing a game online and there is always one random person on their mics who is just talking garbage. I don't mean even talking about the game, I just mean saying random things or just being mean for no reason. I have seen dozens of people in the middle of games just make random noises and even scream for no reason and its terrible.

I think the easier question is what DOES NOT grind my gears, lol.

I agree with zanderlex,I hate when people jump on their mics and just be complete tools. A little light hearted banter or trash talk is fine. But do not be a jerk about it. For example,if you beat someone in a fighting game,it is normal to rub their nose in it a little. But also,be a good sport and acknowledge that they fought well against you.

Another thing that burns me,is how "celebs" are made from reality TV. That is the single worst thing ever created. The only reason Kim Kardashian is famous? She had a sex tape and is an attention junkie and has a big behind. I mean, why would anyone sell out their family to be on TV? Honey Boo Boo? That is just a way to exploit the stupid and shameless on TV and the "stars" do not realize that they are disgusting human beings and we are laughing at them, not with them.

Another thing I hate is how people use stuff like Patreon to fund their shows on the internet. Yes,I realize equipment is not cheap to make a good show, but at the same time, how about work like most people? Most people are not going to pay to watch someone be an attention or advertisement whore.

Sorry if I went too long there.

But also,be a good sport and acknowledge that they fought well against you.

fire emblem10604 : You think that's bad enough? My mom does that. And I yell back asking "WHAT IS IT?" She doesn't reply. And when I finally come.....
"Look at this picture of a squirrel with a halloween mask."

What grinds my gears?
A lot of things.
Actually, I'm sure that a lot of things are gear-grinding for me, I just don't seem to be able to name any.
Facebook is an ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE gear-grinder.
"Comment your battery level! WARNING: If you read this, post it to N friends or you will DIE! Comment if you're a boy, like if a girl, let's see who will win! Juan finally sent child support, so I got my nails done and bought new boots! Cliché Stories: Part 9000: I woke up and took a selfie..."

Among other things: SJW's, whining third-wave feminists, fat people being proud of being fat, making fun of Muslims being labelled as "free speech", absolutely idiotic password requirements (xkcd #936), Russians actually enjoying eating sunflower seeds (still a mystery to me), people misunderstanding opinions, NEETs and schools encouraging people to be apathetic pansies instead of teaching them to stand up against bullying.

People that go out of their way to show off or lie about what they can do or where they've been just to seem cooler or better than they really are.

If you say you speak Japanese or read manga in Katakana, be able to do it and not just recognize three words.  Saying "Hello" and asking where the bathroom is does not mean you can speak Spanish.

I don't know why people work so hard to create better pictures of themselves for others.  Who cares what others think of you?  And if you're really that bothered that you're not interesting, so you inflate yourself, why not just go out there and have the experiences, take the time to learn all those martial arts you say you know, and really do it.

I find the less people talk about themselves, the cooler the stuff they've actually done.

What really grinds my gears:

There is only one main thing that grinds my gears. And that thing is noise. I hate the noise of people chewing gum, sliding utensils across a porcelain plate, coughing, using lawn mowers, and using blenders. I hate all of these noises and get really mad when it constantly happens.
