Hi guys there is something that I need help with please, so I will explain. My brother told me that we will be getting a new better Internet soon. So that I could stream again with better content. My streams were poor. Ok not that poor. But it didn't have that good HD quality that people were looking for, and the only way I could do that at the time was small video size which was not good. So. Does this mean I will go back to streaming? Maybe. So like any other normal day I was having my naps. And I woke up hearing things. So I got up, and I opened a new tab page wanting to look at something.

I clicked onto Google. The Internet wasn't working. On the other hand I was hearing someone running up and down the stairs.I went downstairs to go and inspect. My sister told me that the people with the new Internet was here, and they were changing the Internet. That was really unexpected. As in all honesty, I wasn't expecting them to come not until the end of the year. Then I said to myself while standing still. *Well I'll be dammed...* So when the Internet was in place I quickly added in the password and such. The first thing I did was to do a speed test. And to see how much progression there was in that new Internet router. Here are the results from me laptop. I have still yet to touch my computer that is in the living room. This results did put me in shock as it was never like that on the previous.







So there....I do have some questions, and will summon most likely some people who can help me.


Jordanv78 : I promised you when I had a new Internet I would tell you. What do you make of these results good enough? For a strong connection to netplay psx games?

mrfe : Remember we talked about this, streaming and more?  what do you think would this give the high quality stream?

Foxyman1113 : Do you think that you can also help out please? Like the possibility of what I can stream with this results and the outcome of it.


Any other help from people is much appreciated as well.

Eniitan : Glad to hear you got some new internet with faster speeds! This internet speed should be plenty to stream decently depending on what else you have going on over your network at the time.

It also should help you netplay easier, although it could still have issues with the distance from the server, the other persons internet connection and the computer you are trying to netplay from.

We should test it out and see how well you are able to netplay soon! Maybe this weekend.

Well, that should be sufficient to stream, but I don't know that your upload is good enough to do multiple things at once.

If you join a netplay session, I think you should be alright, but someone that joins a session that you host might have some lag issues.

Hello Entiian, to be honest either from your laptop of your big computer you will not find much of a difference in speed, your speed depends on a number of things. How far away you are from your main router (the one in the street like a big green metal box) time of day, In England like were you and I live we will see a drop during 6PM through to about 10PM even when providers say there will be no drop in peak hours there always is. Plus also how good your wireless connection is (if you are using wireless). Also you will always get better speeds by having your PC hooked up to your router box in your house as well it will be less likely to have drop outs as well. May I ask what provider are you with please.

dragonslayer444 : Wow....thats a lot of questions to answer. Lets see...I'm going to answer the ones I can the ones I don't understand I'll ask back... I don't plan on streaming from my laptop whatsoever. But from my main computer I do. My main router is in the living room but sadly is quite far from the computer. I live in London, woolwich. My Internet broadband is now virgin media. My wireless is very good. If I have missed any questions please say so.

I really was not asking questions more like giving advice as how your internet speed can change and how you can improve it.

The ping is good.
I don't think that the speed would be that much different from upload and download if its wireless...

Give the desktop a try...I would be surprised if it is much more than 3...I am guessing upload will be from 3-5 on the desktop since you have 10 upload.

Just about every broadband company (except Verizon to my knowledge) gives 1/2 upload to download speeds.

I'm kinda surprised that you and Jordan don't have faster uploads.
That should be enough to do what you plan, but faster is always better.

The upload is just about 1/2 the download, which I thought was the standard....guess not...

Vanelan : I pmed Jordan a problem same for someone else who may be able to help me. I may not be able to netplay yet. Well I tried it on my laptop and boy was it so smooth, no lags at all. Remember that my laptop overheats? It didn't kick in until like 5 mins later then the lag came. I don't have any lags for netplaying. It is my laptop itself and...as for my desktop that's a different story which is pulling my brains out! Also I tried streaming and uh....I dunno I used windows capture and things didn't go as planned sadly. So I will need someone's assistant on that one.

Jordanv78 : Wow... those are Mb/s, not even mbps. What kind of internet do you have if you don't mind my asking? Is it expensive?

Light Knight : Its called virgin media. And if I can remember correctly it is expensive.

Light Knight : Just comcast. Costs about 75 a month. I've always been happy with the speed that I get for what I pay for. There are faster plans, but they can get spendy.

If you have the ability to, always use Ethernet on your computer, as your wireless signal gets dampened easily.

Great that your Internet speed has increased by a lot. My Internet speed isn't all that great but I am happy with it.
