I always name the rival in the game Grey, Don't know why exactly I do this but that has been his name since I first started playing Pokémon, except when I can't name the rival, that always makes me sad. Though I am human and my need for something funny can come up, I sometimes name my rival Butt. I have a very high sophisticated sense of humor.

I always name my rival his/her real name in the real Pokémon games. I don't like to name them randomly because I prefer them to be simpler than a more complicated. I think it is the best thing to do to not to name them different, it makes me more confuse if I name them.

I give my rival a name that is actually a name, like: Jeffery, Mister, Johnny, or any commonly heard name. If I'm playing Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow I just conform to everyone else the plays it and name my rival something rude.

I always name my rival Cole or Mike. Cole was my best friend growing up, and we always used to battle each other. So I just liked the idea of battling him even when he's not around, knowing I'd always win haha. Mike is the name of my brother, who's name I used before I met Cole. My brother and I used to compete to see who could beat each game fastest and the like. It was just sort of a neat thing to do I guess.
