My favorite creature would be a dragon, because dragons can live for thousands of years, their scales are incredibly strong, their teeth are as sharp as swords, and there is so much other awesome stuff about them.

Like Leunith, I must say my favorite is the dragon. For centuries they have been used in various mythology including various movies, comics, books and ancient folklore. In some myths they are known as the smartest and most magical of all creatures. Others they are portrayed as being evil and mindless brutes that live to destroy. With their intimidating presence and unlimited power, they demand respect from all. Personally, I feel dragons re neither good nor evil, but ,like human, are capable of both good and evil and like all things are a matter of life choices. Due to their longevity though, dragons have the potential to be divine or pure chaos depending on many factors in their every day lives.
Just to name a few things but not limited to these examples:
A red dragon with its fire element are known for their greed, but why is that one might wonder. Well Let's say you are a fire dragon, which means from the time you are an egg, you require intense heat to even come into this cold world.  With the surrounding air being roughly 300-1500 degrees to incubate, you don't have the opportunity to have play toys as they would burst into flames. So your days as a wyrmling are boring as you are unable to collect certain items.  It can be thought of as how a person with a poor background would resort to thievery to provide themselves with the means of making a living. So once said dragon heads down this chaotic path to fulfil his desire to entertain himself, he becomes know as an evil dragon because lets face, something that large wants what you have and it never learned how to be polite, odds are the encounter would not be beneficial to you as you are pretty much food or a new toy for him to play with depending on its age and how long its been since its last meal.

I suppose the dragons we consider to be good would be the ones that grew up with a strong parent that was able to teach it morals, love, trust and respect for life. The color of a dragon might play a large roll in a wyrm's development as environment plays a key roll, like the red dragon.
Also like humans, no two dragons are the same. Life experiences change from one person to the next. If someone was nice to a certain dragon and showed no fear, this dragon might learn to trust others and maybe even love them. One who is known only hostility might grow to be a paranoid and with drawn, or in the other direction, become a very mean and destructive force. If a dragon is worshipped and pampered since birth, it might grow up to be spoiled and learn to take things for granted.
Even a dragon's strength and features can vary for the same reasons. If a dragon knows only anger, hatred and battle, his scales will become hard from attacks and his teeth tempers from biting. Also his talons will become as tempered swords due to slashing to defend itself for one reason or another.

So yeah, I adore dragons and their social society. My favorite type of dragon? I would have to say an elder golden wyrm because in many mythology, they have the ability to change their forms into that of a human and they tend to watch over their fleshy brothers.

My favorite creature is the IB122. He's very mysterious and he's pretty well-known here on Vizzed. Unlike many other creatures, he's very friendly.

IgorBird122 :

In all seriousness, my favorite creature is the Loch Ness Monster because I've always been fascinated at things that live in water.

Obviously, the one that all Vizzed members shall fear and respect at the same time: Leggy

I also have a high respect for dragons as the most explored mythical creature, but above them I would place the Phoenix. Dragons symbolize a lot of things, mainly wisdom and power, while the Phoenix symbolizes the cycle of everything. When something ends it can start anew, what seems to be the end is only the beginning. I've experienced this myself, that's why I feel identified with this mythical bird.

Favourite animal is by far the dragon. I've always thought of them as powerful, wise, and just awesome. They've gained my fascination ever since I was what, 2? 3 even?
After that though is the internet's favourite animal: The cat. So cute, fluffy  and full of personality. Lot easier to take care of than dogs, too.

I would have to say dragon as well.  They are monsters of enormous size, common to almost all countries. Descriptions of its appearance vary, but it is of reptilian nature, often red or green in color, sometimes with several heads that spew fire and vapors, and a large tail, not unlike some dinosaurs.

Dragons are among the most popular and enduring of the world's mythological creatures. Dragon tales are known in many cultures, from the Americas to Europe to India to China. Though they populate our books, films, and television shows, they have a long and rich history in many forms.

The belief in dragons was based not just in legend but also in hard evidence — or so it seemed. For millennia no one knew what to make of the giant bones that were occasionally unearthed around the globe, and dragons seemed a logical choice for people who had no knowledge of dinosaurs.

It is of enormous strength very powerful and has a witty sense of humor at times, but the ancients believed that it could be charmed by music, and the dragon that guarded the Golden Fleece of Greek legend was soothed by the voice of Medea. In India at the time of Alexander the Great, a dragon was worshiped as a god, while in occult history it is the manifestation of hell. That's kind of deep if you ask me but I mean it goes back to how people worshiped all kinds of different gods and idols of the sort. People even worship singers now, that's how crazy this world has become.

The dragon, however, is best known in legendary history as the monster whose duty it is to provide the hero with opportunities of valor. There is a legend of St. George and the Dragon and also the dragon that was slain by Sir Lancelot, one of the knights of King Arthur 's Round Table.

In the Hebrew Bible (the Christian Old Testament) the word tannin, commonly rendered "dragon" in older English translations, generally refers to a variety of animals such as crocodiles, jackals, and serpents, but occasionally to the dragon (Ezek. 29:3; 32:3).

In Chapter 12 of the biblical book of Revelation, the dragon, a representation of the Evil One, is overcome by the archangel Michael.
The dragon became a symbol of great strength in the European Middle Ages. In the fifteenth century, the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire founded the Order of the Dragon to unite Christian rulers against the incursions of the Turkish Muslims into the Balkans.

Among those invested with the order was Prince Vlad of Wallachia (Romania). He assumed the name Vlad Dracul, dracul being the Romanian word for dragon. His son took the diminutive form of the name as Prince Vlad Dracula.
During the time of Henry VII (1457-1509), a coin was given to those who were cured of possession with one side featuring an angel standing with both feet on a dragon.

The idea of the dragon is perhaps evolved from the concept of the earth as a living being, a notion that gained currency from earthquakes and related phenomena.

In all, dragons are just awesome. If they were actually real.. I think we would all be doomed unless they ended up being friendly creatures.

How might I have endured such knowledge about dragons? It's simple. I was forced to read several books growing up by my father.. most of which involved dragons, myths and legends and the secrets of the world. If I didn't read them I was punished for lack of involvement in my education. I know not many people know this about poor ole' Bintsy but there is a lot of things people do not know about me. Anyways.. this is just a little history summary I put together and wanted to share. Although I had to read about dragons growing up they are still one of my favorite creatures... I mean the beauty and the myths are what draw me closer to them.

In theory none of this really matters but if you actually took the time to read this, I'm sure you will see how much I had to read growing up

I grew up reading Dragon Lance and playing D&D. My first book was The Legend of Huma.  I was hooked on fantasy and mythical creatures ever since.  When it comes to the ultimate creature, I would have to give it to the dragon, though I was going to change it up with Godzilla.  The worlds largest creature, defender and destroyer.  I loved all of the black and white movies and the color ones were even better.  Still have them all on VHS...that's what came before DVD for those that don't know.  The 1998 movie was horrible though, and I don't count that as a Godzilla movie, and will never.  It has the best running drop kick in the history of wrestling, flying on it's tail as it does so.  It is charged by lightning which gives it the ability to use it's breath (originally anyway).  At an incredible 355 feet tall, this creature weighs in at just under 90K metric tons.  I love dragons and all, but even the mighty three headed King Ghidorah lost to this remarkable creature.  The true savior of the planet has to go to Gojira (godzilla) and all other dragons can have fun flying around saying their praises to the true master of kick butt.

Many thanks to a very conflicted state of war between the AXIS AND ALLIES for giving us the best creature ever made bar none

I like werewolves, as a kid wolves fascinated me and my new interest in werewolves grew as I saw Van Helsing. That's when I finally said, "ok changing from man to beast is the most coolest thing ever." They are fast healers and some of the abilities like super hearing and smell is transferable when you are a regular human.

I always loved dragons. One of my ex-girlfriends(that I met online) sent me a container with a dragon holding an orb on it which I still think I have, as it is one of my most prized possessions.  I probably started liking dragons as a child when my mom sang me "Puff The Magic Dragon" to put me to sleep.

I would have to go with Griffins. They are part lion, part eagle, and all awesome. I would think that it would be really cool to ride on one, and they would hopefully be friendly. I bet that they would be rad to pet as well.

My favorite creature would be the vampire, they are beings that are mostly depicted in books or films as the "evil" ones but are very mysterious in nature, they stay in the darkness of the night, drink blood to survive. People call them evil and disgusting (from my friends and family) because they prey on humans to survive but how is this any different when we prey on animals for meat and protein? They could be nice but because of their depictions, they are shunned and killed when found.

Sorry, just saying what came to mind there.

My favorite creature would have to be dragons. They're massive and the most intimidating fictional creatures of all time in my opinion. If they were real though, humanity would be in huge trouble because they could burn down cities in a heartbeat, so I'm glad they don't actually exist.

My favourite creatures are dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are an interesting class of animals- they can be large, they can be small. Some can fly, others can swim. Some are herbivores, others prefer flesh. Such diversity has always fascinated me.

I think I'll have to toss in a dissenting vote here and say otters.  Dragons and other mythical beasties are cool and all, but there's now way to watch them play with whatever comes around as a toy.

When I was a child someone tossed a penny into the otter pond at the zoo.  There were several signs asking people not to throw change in because the otters might try to eat it and choke to death, but you how well most people read and obey signs.  Instead of swallowing it, one of the otters had decided it could be a fun toy - I have no idea what gender the otter was, but I'll pretend it was male to make it easier to refer to it.  He'd swim on his back with the penny on his chest, then suddenly flip over so it would sink towards the bottom of the pool.  Then he'd dive and catch it on his chest again before returning to the surface.  Simple, but something to do and probably more challenging that it looks to people watching since he didn't use his paws for the catch.

Imagination is all well and good, but actually seeing the otter being playful and inventive?  That was fun.

I guess a liger is pretty much my favorite animal. What's a liger you ask? It's like a lion and tiger mixed...bred for its skills in magic.
