So, let me know fellow vizzed members. Which do you like and or prefer, Pokemon, or Final Fantasy?
I will get us started. I love Final Fantasy more than Pokemon, because you can make yourself stronger unlike Pokemon having a weak character who never fights throughout the game. Even though I started with Pokemon, I love Final Fantasy way more.

DestinyHeroDC : I prefer Pokemon. You have animals as your pals and friends. You can train them until level 100. Teach them various moves, and you can also breed Pokemon. Thanks to the trainer's friendship, a Pokemon can Mega Evolve. So, yeah, I prefer Pokemon more.

greenluigi : I can respect that. There is a lot that you can do with your Pokemon.

Well I would have to say Final Fantasy as a whole, even though I grew up playing and loving pokemon as well. The story of Final Fantasy games is what wins, not to mention the combat. Such lovely memories as a child playing FF8 on the PSX in my small room after school.

As much as I love pokemon and growing up with the game. I loved final fantasy games even more. I remember that I replayed final fantasy 7, 9 and 10 simply as serotriptomine has said because of the story and the combat as well. I remember rushing home to play the game from school but that would had been after watching some anime on tv. ^-^

Eniitan : I remember doing that with a lot of games. Sadly not Final Fantasy though. Was not into it back then. Love it now though.

DestinyHeroDC : I prefer Pokemon because of its rich gameplay, and RPG battles. It also had ADORABLE pokemon like Pikachu and more! However, Final Fantasy was an RPG, but it was a more complex story with a series mood in my opinion...

Sauron422416 : That is understandable. I agree to a certain extent. And yes Final Fantasy is definitely has a more serious story than Pokemon. Perhaps that is why I like it more.

I'm going to go with Pokemon. I've only been a fan of FF for about a year now and I only played one ff game that I liked. As for Pokemon, I have been playing it forever, I played at least one game from every generation and at least one from each remake series.

I prefer Final Fantasy over Pokémon for a few reasons that is critical to RPG games like these.

First, music. Final Fantasy has some of the best instrumental music I have heard in any rpg (Minus the anime rpgs because they are awesome. And Atlus. Atlus is better than anything). The Pokémon music is boring to me. Now, I would consider the music a tie if they had the anime and movie songs play in the games but sadly, like newer SE, Nintendo doesn't like doing things that make them money.

Second, variety. Other than the team and "purpose" you don't find out about until halfway through, Pokémon is essentially the same story with a different map and the same exact gameplay but with new items and Pokémon (see Call of Duty) Final Fantasy constantly introduces new mechanisms and grander stories and lore in each new installment. They have more developed and differing characters and the style of creatures constantly changes. 

Third, characters. Touched on this a little in the variety one but the characters are more relatable and believable than a 10 year old being allowed to "trap" and virtually kill wild animals for fun and a couple badges. (Look mom, I almost filled up my Boy Scout sash!!!) The characters and the way they react is far better in Final Fantasy. Even though there are other JRPGS with better characters in them (Tales of is the bomb!) the characters in Final Fantasy are "more favorite" -Brian Regan I know... I know.. the little kid in Pokémon is supposed to be you. But let's face it, when it comes to catching and fighting wild animals to the... uh... faint, do you really want to be you. Or would you rather battle gods and giant dinosaurs with swords and bows and magic. Or maybe just gods, they are easier to defeat than the Adamantoise are. 

And four, the rating. HOW IN THE HECK IS POKÉMON RATED E FOR EVERYONE BY ESRB! You literally are a preteen whose parents and adults let him travel a world unsupervised to catch killer creatures and GODS (Llama God to be specific) and then use them to do battle with other killer creatures either in a constantly traversed path (Traverse Town theme. You hummed it didn't you), the middle of a city, or inside a small one room building. Granted you also have the lakes, rivers, forests, caves,  etc; but let's face it, you are getting out of there as fast as you can.

And that is why I prefer Final Fantasy over Pokémon.

scarlot : Wow. That is the most detailed, "Why I like Final Fantasy more" I have ever seen. Or at least for any game in general. I can say, that is pretty much my reason as well, at least with the Final Fantasy part.
