As a way to celebrate "Dreamcast Month" this month, this competition involves creating something Dreamcast themed or something SEGA themed. The reason I'm making this a "SEGA competition" instead of just a "Dreamcast competition" is because I don't know if enough users are familiar with the Dreamcast, plus involving anything SEGA opens up more possibilities. This competition has the biggest cash prize of any Minecraft competition I've hosted.

In this competition you must create the best SEGA themed structure on the Vizzed Minecraft Server. The structure can be of almost anything as long as it's SEGA themed in some way. You can present your submission in the form of a video or screenshots. The structure can be built anywhere but if it's pixel art, you should do it in the open world where all the other pixel art is. If you do a video then you must upload it to the Vizzed YouTube Account. If you do screenshots then you must upload them to Vizzed and then post them to this thread.

Staff will vote on the submissions after the competition is done. They'll vote based on structure uniqueness, difficulty, how much of a SEGA theme it is and the presentation of the video or screenshots.



Instructions for taking a video and submitting it to the Vizzed YouTube Channel:
You can use Camtasia (probably the best and has a free trial available), Camstudio (free), Xsplit or any other program to record with. You may also edit the video however you want (example, adding music, subtitles, etc), just make sure it is less than 5 minutes long.

Once you've recorded the video, you'll want to upload it to the Vizzed YouTube page and add it to the game's page in the Video Game Room. You can do this by going to the game's page (link found below) and then scroll half way down the page to the 'Minecraft User Submitted videos' section and click the 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed Youtube' link. Once the video has been uploaded, be sure to place a link to it to this thread, otherwise your submission will not count.

I might be able to do something for this months contest, might be able to get on the server for a bit, epecially since it's roughly the one year anniversary of the server so it would be cool to make something and submit it.

Sounds like a fun competition! I'l be sure to build something. Hopefully I can get a razer kraken if I win first place. I've been wanting one for a while.

David, when you say 3 submissions, is that 3 structures? If I were to make a few structures right next to each other, would those be different submissions?

Also I love how the prize is $100 not just $20, I've already started on my creation.

Barathemos : If you put 3 structures next to each other, they'd each count as an individual structure as long as they're not part of your other entries. Each of the submissions can be of 1 structure or multiple structures. A single submission cannot include structures used in previous submissions.

As for the scoring, the winner is based on who has the single highest rated submission.

Davideo7 : Do vanelan and deg2000's submissions count? They both copied work made by others.

If you google "minecraft sonic pixel art" the first thing that comes up is vanelan's submission, which was made by someone else.
And if you google "tails the fox minecraft" deg2000's tails the fox shows up a little bit down.

earthwarrior : I don't see why their submissions wouldn't count, all they did was create a sprite graphic based on a sprite from a game which is the same thing those other people did. Now if they somehow found a way to copy those structures straight into our world, then that'd be against the rules, but they created those structures themselves so they count.

Since MC staff are competing and can fly, may contenders also have the ability to fly for buildings sake?

earthwarrior : I actually took a sprite of Sonic, put it in GIMP, created a grid on it and built it from there.
I wish I had thought of just searching for Minecraft Sonic pixel art.

Actually, as David and I experimented with tonight, the fly plugin is currently broken. We're not totally sure what's going on, but David is researching ways to fix this. Hopefully we'll be able to implement fly before too long.

earthwarrior : Unfortunately, there isn't a logical explanation as to why the plugin isn't working, which means we have no idea how to approach fixing it (lol). David's doing his best, but I wouldn't expect the ability to use fly before the competition ends, unfortunately.

Davideo7 : I've been working on a fairly large build in an as of now undisclosed location...is it possible for this instance to get extra claim blocks to protect my build for this contest?

vanelan : You've been building on land that you haven't claimed? That seems pretty inconvenient since you can only add blocks on unclaimed land, you can't remove or modify blocks. You can use your MViz to buy more claim blocks.
