hello, I might seem like a raging European fanboy, I know but hear me out here.

The USA Is big, I get that. But lets face it, South america, Europe, africa, asia and the middle east combined is bigger.

So, wouldn't it make sense changing the name of the genesis to the megadrive? I feel like that could bring in more users, especially asian and european users, and jeez, the Brazillians love sega!!

So, yeah. I used both the british and dutch google engines to look up ''Play Mega drive online'' And vizzed showed up nearly at the bottom of the page, while If I search ''Play GBA online'' It shows up at the top, and obviously, people will look it up in their own language, too.


It's just an idea for vizzed to grow and bring in more south american, asian and europeans.

I don't think combining continents counts, and does it really matter what the name of it is? All it is is a name of something, and changing the name won't do anything to actually change the console greatly. Most users on Vizzed are from the U.S. anyways. I don't think there should, or ever will be, a name change.

And, I knew that the Genesis is called the Mega Drive in other parts of the world, I'm just stating what I think. Don't assume what people know and what people don't know.

That would get rid of USA people and bring in people we really would not even understand the language of most likely. Also they might be pretty sad to see the megadrive not being in the language they are so it is probably a bad idea to change it from Genesis to Megadrive.

 Yes, but you also said South America, Asia, and Africa. Those 3 continents I think do not speak English very good. Europe is the only continent you said that everyone speaks English almost. USA is bigger than Europe I think so that is why I think it is better to keep referring to it as the Sega Genesis.

I don't agree with this for a couple of reasons
1. David doesn't really have the time to go changing the name of ALL the places where it mentions sega genesis to megadrive.
2. Most vizzed users are from America/Canada
3. People from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa 99% of the time don't speak English (Of course this isn't a completely accurate percentage). A lot of Europe doesn't speak English, anyway.

Instead of changing it in every place you could change it to include mega drive on some of the more commonly visited pages like the game search page I guess (like instead of just saying genesis it says genesis/mega drive) but changing it on every page would be time consuming and doesn't really seem neccesary.

I think the only reason to do it at all would be for people living outside North America who might not be aware that the Sega Mega Drive is called the Sega Genesis there, which is why it might be useful to change it in some places like the game search page. I know I had that problem when first visiting the site and was kind of confused about it at first.

People in those continents usually do speak English, probably not always fluently but to a basic enough extent to be able to communicate somewhat, English is pretty much a required language to learn to a basic in european countries as far as I know so you shouldn't really say that without having anything to back it up.

Zlinqx : I still do not like the idea since most people on Vizzed are in the US and Canada. Also some people who come here from those 2 places might wonder what the Megadrive is. 
 
Then the people from other continents have entirely different languages. I think English is the most spoken throughout the world but not enough from those other continents to justify calling it the Megadrive.
 
The Genesis is alright how it is and most people who come here and see this website search for Genesis games for free not Megadrive games for free..

And it's called that pretty much everywhere else so I still think it'll help people. After all if they such poor english speaking skills they'd have trouble navigating the site in the first place.

I don't think changing the name is going to change the amount of traffic to the site.

I highly doubt its going to change.
