Now before I get criticism, I've actually wrestled, I still do, it's my favorite winter sport next to hockey but my absolute favorite sport over all.
Now there are many reasons to why I say school-level wrestling is better than wrestling, but here are a main few;
1) IT"S NOT FAKE! Wrestling at a high school or college level is very intense in the sense of you go days without eating to make weight for a tournament that you might not even get past bracket 1, it's a special kind of dedication.
2) You aren't showing off for huge crowds. While WWE has large followings of people wrestling is that underdog sport. You wrestle for yourself and for the name of your school or wrestling club.
3) There aren't silly theatrics like slamming a guy with a metal chair or punching (the air near his face) the dudes face repeatedly. In wrestling it is a man's sport. You make a mistake you lose, you cannot blame anyone else but yourself so you gotta own up, take responsibility, and get back to the weight room.
Now while people will want to argue that WWE takes skill and strength to make those moves not hurt those guys, to me, are meatheads that couldn't make the body building scene.Heck, I approve of MMA because you don't get all those theatrics and stupid crap. Please tell me if I'm just crazy for my opinions.

1. There's a difference between "fake" and "scripted". WWE is scripted. They are trained to take hits in ways that they minimize damage, and extend their careers as long as possible. I'd love to see you take a quarter of the blows they do and be able to walk the next day. (Spoiler - You couldn't unless you trained very hard). All the dedications of weight training are true to even professional wrestlers. They need to make sure to maintain their forms as well, because in that world, image is everything.

2. How is that a point in your argument? People show up to be entertained. WWE entertains them. That's like saying my 7th grade baseball team was better than the Red Sox. We didn't draw large crowds. The Red Sox did. Does that instantly make us better? No, it doesn't. We were terrible and never won a game. Nothing against wrestling. It's just that having fans shouldn't be what disqualifies you. That's stupidly stupid.

3. Theatrics are the reason people like to watch. If they wanted to watch a bunch of sweaty gross men circle each other and grab at each others nuts, they'd go to a local high school, and watch that. Believe it or not, some people want the physicality that wrestling offers along with the entertainment value of the unexpected. Seeing someone get slammed in the face with a chair, and come back for more is exciting for a lot of people. This is another argument that is just ludicrous.

Beyond that, do you have any valid points? Because you completely missed the mark on all three.

Also, you are wrong when you say this: "meatheads that couldn't make the body building scene"

Brock Lesnar: Former and Potentially Future MMA Fighter, The Rock: Award Winning Actor, John Cena: Jack of All Trades and Hero to Children Everywhere.

Beyond these freaks of human flesh, you have guys who are smaller than me, with more athleticism in their pinky than you have in your entire body.

It's fine to like what you like, just know what the f*** you are talking about before you slam something.

1- WWE is not necessarily fake but it is scripted. scripted means that people are told what to do and they have to perform actions. That does not mean that the actions performed are fake. I've seen tons of WWE matches in my life that ended up pretty brutal and intense which leads to pro wrestlers being injured. As what legacyme3 says, pro wrestlers are trained to perform and take less damage but however, you were to throw a punch or do a submission move in reality, it can harm and possibly kill a person. That is why there are professionals in the first place to handle extreme cautions and risks just to entertain people. If you want fake, there are cartoons to watch.

2- Showing off to crowds does matter especially making a name for yourself. One of the similarities between pro wrestling and amateur wrestling is to make a name and achieve a higher status for yourself. Of course you would try to show off your talent and athleticism because you have people watching you, making an impression on you, and seeing if you have what it takes to make it to the top. Since you're involved in wrestling, you would want to try to show off your abilities and stand out to people (whether they support you or not) and coaches from other schools especially colleges looking for potential pupils to train and to help you get college scholarships for your future. In general, you would want to stand out whether it would be for school, wrestling, or whatever you're interested in.

3- Acts like throwing chairs in people's faces or jumping off a ladder are examples of entertainment and people love to watch it. Mistakes happen in various forms and lots of things can go wrong in any situation. It takes two to tango. Also, we are improving ourselves everyday mentally and physically whether we are athletes or ordinary people but however we want to be the best and reach to our fullest potential. That is why we have goals everyday.

WWE does have the skill, strength, ability, and dedication to do what they do everyday, entertaining millions of fans and keeping us wanting more of their content. Not to also mention that they travel all over the world to perform and entertain fans.

Also, I don't get what you mean by this statement: meatheads that couldn't make the body building scene.
Pro wrestlers are training everyday to withstand physical actions and trying to increase their chances of not getting hurt. They are doing all that they can to entertain us at their own risk and they don't want other people to get hurt like them so that really speaks to me and has my highest respect. If you can deal with their professionalism and athleticism in their work and be in their shoes everyday, that really takes a lot of energy and dedication. I respect every athlete who has to deal with lots of training and matches at their highest potential everyday.

I get that not everyone likes the same things as everyone. Just stick to being yourself and do what you got to do. You don't have to like pro wrestling like the pro wrestling fans but you asked for another person's perspective.

ghostfishy : Well the main reason I made this thread was because I mainly wanted to see other people's opinions and it's given me some new perspectives.
legacyme3 : I apologize for how I came off really ignorant, those links gave me a fresh look at that part of WWE I wasn't seeing.
