Although I've developed "strange" habits through the years (always trying to put the dishes I just washed under so everything gets used "equally), I don't obsess over it.

I don't. I'm really organized, but that's just a personal preference.

If my dorm gets messed up (like during exam weeks), I wouldn't try to tidy up obsessively.

I also don't care when things aren't aligned exactly, or look exactly right.

I'm definitely somewhat obsessive about perfection, but my procrastination skills balance it out. :v When I walk, though, I have to find some pattern, otherwise I go crazy. Other than that, though, it's not too bad.

mrfe : i know how you feel. When i walk on tiles or on pavement with gaps, i have to cross over the gaps and can never step on them.

Does it count as OCD if you walk clockwise and then have to turn around and walk counterclockwise just to balance it out?

Does it count as OCD if you arrange all your socks and clothing according to color?

Does it count as OCD if you see something hanging off of the edge of a table (or just somehow past the edge) and then you automatically go to move it until it's safely within the boundaries of the table, in a way that it can't possibly fall off? And you always do this for every object you see that's in that kind of situation?

Does it count as OCD if you check and double check and triple check all your posts before posting, and then if there's still even one error in the post anyways, such as a failed summon or typo, you must go and edit the post to fix it? And the entire time, there's a sense of impending doom if you don't go to edit it before someone else sees those mistakes?

Does it count as OCD if you remember where everyone's hands have been since the time you first saw them for the day, and if they've touched something but forgot to wash their hands, you'll make a mental note to either avoid their hands or give them a tissue somehow? And you automatically mentally record the actions of every person you see/meet/know?

Does it count as OCD if you have a sticker that you accidentally stuck on something but it's crooked and you don't feel satisfied until you pry/peel it off of whatever surface it's on to fix it, even if by doing so, there's a chance of the sticker and/or the surface being destroyed in the process?

Also, does it count as OCD if you hear some sounds like fireworks and no matter what you're doing, your mind decides to replay the sounds a moment later just so you can count the number of explosions and make sure you got the number right the first time?

Finally, does it count as OCD if you count the number of stairs as you climb and you don't even realize what you're doing until someone asks you for the number of stairs?

I'm just asking because I've observed someone doing all these things and just wondered if they might have some form of OCD or personality disorder.

As for whether or not I personally have OCD, I may exhibit some of the symptoms/tendencies for OCD, but I'm fine as long as I have the edit post button. ^^

I don't know if I have OCD or not. I have a lot of tendencies that are associated with OCD. Little things will freak me out. If something is not even with the other side, or whatever, I have to make sure it's even. I will notice most little things that most people do not. I hate germs, and I have to wash my hands every chance I get. If I feel any dirt or grime on my hands, it just bugs me. I don't like growing out a beard because I hate hair on my face, and I will pluck the hairs that I skip from shaving. I want my skin smooth and spotless all the time. If there is one little spot of dirt on my shirt, I go and change it almost immediately. I will try to get the spot out until its gone... no matter where I am lol. It's more on my own looks, on clutter and crooked objects.

OCD has turned into a term people use to simply say they are particular about things, and sometimes make a bigger deal out of something that shouldn't be.

Someone will be putting dishes away, and has to make sure they are lined up perfectly in the cupboard; they'll say "I'm so OCD about this".

But, as has been stated many times, that's not what it really means. It would be like looking down at a freckle and saying: "I'm have a little Melanoma (Dangerous Skin Cancer)."

I have never thought that I have OCD but I have been called a perfectionist in the past. My nerves and paranoia stay bad sometimes. Like yesterday I was in the doctors office and the laptop was half off the table which was making me nervous thinking it was going to fall off the table.. I had to bite my lip not to say anything to the doctor. In theory this probably has something to do with my medication. Some things just make me really nervous so I guess some things I could be considered ocd about but not many things. I just end up having bad nerves which is not always a good thing.

I know I don't have OCD. I'm so messy and forgetful that the thought of OCD never really occurs to me. I know where everything is, but that's as far as I'll go.

I think I can exhibit that kind of behavior about some things, like always feeling compelled to 100% complete a game when playing it but not always. And being a procrastinator kind of counter acts it. I'm not really too specific about keeping my things organized or stuff like that either.

I'm not totally sure if it qualifies, but I'm pretty OCD when it comes to my keys. Especially car keys. I literally have to be physically holding the keys in my hand before I can close the door locked. I don't know what would happen if I couldn't, it hasn't come to that. I think I learned that though from a bad experience I once had of driving me and my friends 50 miles to a concert then locking the keys in the car. At least we still went to the show though. The Ramones too. They were still alive. Thankfully we met some people from our town that we knew and they gave us a lift back. In their subcompact. All crammed into the back lol. The next day I had to get a ride back up there hung over. ugh. I used to work with a man that had a serious case of hand-washing OCD though. You would walk into the bathroom and he was washing his hands. When you left, he would still be washing them. Sometimes you'd hear him stop, dry his hands, then start again. He was the safety coordinator. I guess that was a good job for him in retrospect.

I don't think I do personally, but I might be diagnosed with it eventually. Sometimes here and there I'll make sure things are right.

I don't think I have ocd. I don't have any of those weird habits or behaviors with anything.

Well, aside from even and uneven things. I like to have a big center point, so I always want an uneven amount of something. It's quite hard to explain.
