So, basically, every song has at least one curse word in it. It might not have to get censored, but should it? And, we're talking about the radio versions of songs here. But, really, is it necessary to censor the word "gun"? In Iggy Azalea's hit single "Fancy", in the original song she says, "Gold trigger on a gun like". But in the radio version, she says "Gold trigger on a trigger like". Trigger on a trigger? TRIGGER ON A TRIGGER? Are we serious? Now, I can understand if you had to censor the F-word, or something high up there, but not "gun"! I mean, let's get it together! Now, if you used the A-word, would you really have to censor it? Come on. I want to hear your opinion, especially if you are in the music industry or work in the radio (entertainment) industry.

Well, seriously, I think censorship in music is just nonsense :/ I mean music is art, and art is freedom, you are allowed to say everything you want to in every possible way :o And besides that, who wants to hear music where everything is censored, so that you can only hear beeps when the singer is singing? :

Not every song has at least one cuss word in it. I'd be surprised if even half of all the existing songs in the world and history have at least one curse word....

As for censoring the word 'gun', I've never heard of that, and don't know a thing about the example you gave. However, it does seem a bit silly.

I don't think songs should be censored at all. It's a form of expression and people can talk or sing however they want to.  I don't like songs with excessive cursing or other foul material, but guess what?  Nobody is forcing me to listen to them either.

I simply don't listen to them. Problem solved.

I don't listen to the radio (I hate what they call "music" on the radio) but I am not for censoring any kind of art. If you don't want to hear the real work then go listen to Disney, that's all I can tell ya. Will the radio ever play a GG Allin song, lord no! Will the radio keep censoring music to make the masses of brain dead scumbags happy, yep. Nothing will change so I don't listen to the radio.

Censorship is stupid. Stop trying to protect me from things that won't hurt me. As a kid I had an uncle who swore like a sailor. It didn't bother me and it didn't affect the way I grew up or the kind of person I am today. It was just words, funny at the time but eh.

As for censoring other things in music-like the gun example above-again, it's just stupid. The ones who care won't be listening to that song anyway, and the ones who are listening to that song get annoyed. No one wins. 

No, unless something is being used sexually(at which point it shouldn't be aired anyways), I don't think so, because I've been listening to Disturbed for years, and I'm fine. I just don't see the problem with cuss words in general.

I would say that I think the only genre that should be censored is rap but other than that I'd say no the rest of the genre's shouldn't be censored.

Well, I think there should be stations with censorship and stations without. That way, no one can complain. You should be able to listen to the exact same songs on each station, but one is sort of a kids version. Every word is censored, like the a-word, d-word, etc. On the adult station, there would be swears like the a, d, and s-words (haha, swords ). That way everyone could be happy .

If you don't like or want to see or hear it then don't. If it is not your thing, there are plenty of alternatives.

They said the A-word (I'm just not gonna say because of posting rules) on live radio! I feel so offended! I might have a heart attack at any moment!" See, barely anyone ever listens to the radio. If you want to find a new song, you probably go on YouTube or some similar method. So the people who are listening to these songs are old enough to say the curse words! Now, I understand that parenting styles are different, so, but! I've never seen a 6 year old use the F-word.

Anyways, back on subject. I think they shouldn't have censorship in music. Like taking words away from the song that the artist sing because one of the words could offend that person, the only thing is that why not keep that person from listening, it is that easy. Plus all the songs that some bands makes are based on their feelings or entertainment and shouldn't be changed at all. So this is why I do not like censorship in music at all.

Anyways, I feel that songs that people have worked long and hard on shouldn't be lined to just because they have a bad word! Bad words have a special characteristic that make them "bad"! So, it's just a special word in theory. If people will be that offended of a song, why do they listen to those songs? There's varieties of radio stations and songs for a reason! I just still can't believe that people will make a big deal over a bad word! Freedom of speech is one our rights, here in the great United States of America! Take "The Interview" for example, a movie that caused a lot of buzz in 2014. North Korea was trying to censor this movie in the world! We should not let this kind of things happen, or we are going to be taken over! So, why should there be a really big feud over whether there should be censorship? Now, if something is just way too inappropriate to air on television, radio, or any other very useful form of communication, then don't air or show it. But some people just take it way too far. And, yes, I know that this is turning into a conversation rant. I feel that this is just something that we can't stop. People are going to start censoring all words that are fine for now, like, kill, or bomb. So what words would you censor?

For the most part, no. Artists shouldn't have to censor what they say.

However, I kind of like the fact that some radio stations censor music.

Otherwise the clean radio stations would be full of wimpy music, and kids everywhere would have to suffer that in car rides. At least right now, great songs that have only one or two cuss words can be played in their (near) entirety.

I think they should continue to edit swear words out when music is being played for a large audience, as people aren't aware what kind of lyrical content is coming at them in their car of 3 kids. However, the actual music releases you get from your record store or off the internet shouldn't be censored as long as it clearly states so with the parental advisory sticker.

I personally don't mind swears or other types of inappropriate lyrics in songs at all, and, like Singelli said, no one is forcing the ones who don't like them to listen to them .

It depends on where the music is being played, though. If the audience is likely to include children, then yes, I do think there should be censorship in music. 

When the audience is appropriate, though, I see no reason to cut out even a second of the piece of art the artist created .
