If you all haven't notice, I have looked info about Super Bowl XLIX, and I just realized something.

Where ever the Super Bowl is going to be played, normally, the hosting teams never makes it to the playoffs, and if they did, they never make it through the Wildcard round. But this coming Super Bowl (XLIX), it will be hosted in Glendale, AZ, the same city the Arizona Cardinals happens to play in and according to their records (if Arizona beats Seattle and San Francisco), then they will clinch home-field advantage which means they'll be in the same stadium that the same Super Bowl will be playing throughout the whole playoffs, in which will make not just in NFL history, but all of sports.

As of right now, Arizona has already clinched the playoffs.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on, you think this could be a pretty epic Super Bowl (and playoffs), yet coming up, of does it seems like the same old, same old. Your take

I'm a Seahawks fan, so obviously I want Arizona to lose, but I try to stay unbiased. Here's my opinion:

I can't see Arizona beating Seattle next week at all. Arizona was really struggling to score with Stanton at QB, now he's out and they're going with Lindley. Seahawks D has looked completely dominant the last 4 weeks, giving up a combined 27 points. Arizona has a good defense, not great. Believe it or not, Arizona is 29th ranked against the pass and gives up the 4th most total yards per game. It will obviously be a low scoring game, but there's no way Arizona's offense will outplay Seattle's offense. I'll admit, Seattle doesn't have a great offense, but they are the top rushing team in the NFL. They have a great playmaker in Russell Wilson and he has proved countless times he can make plays when the Seahawks need one. The Cardinals have no such player. They've been struggling mightily against everyone, including Atlanta, which has the worst defense in terms of yards per game.

If Seattle wins against the Cardinals and Rams, they will likely get the #1 seed and Arizona will be #5, which means they would face the dreaded NFC South winner. If they manage to win that game, they would likely face either Seattle or Green Bay next, which have the two best home field advantages in the NFL. That's as far as they can go.

If Arizona somehow beats Seattle and ends up with the #1 seed, they would likely face Seattle or Detroit, both of which will have lost in Arizona this season. Both teams have solid defenses and I can't see either losing to Arizona twice. Arizona is just not good enough offensively to go deep into the playoffs.

There should be some kind of waiver that doesn't let the Cardinals get into the playoffs.  The questions they have at QB mean there is a 0.00% chance they'll make a Superbowl.

They're done because they don't have anyone who can throw the ball.  I love Drew Stanton, I watched him play at MSU and he's a good clipboard holder.  He's not a play-off winning, NFC title champion QB and that team is simply going to get blown up the first play off game they get.  They shouldn't even be allowed to make it.

Instead, take someone like the Lions or Packers.  Whoever wins that division goes.  The other team, even with 11 wins, may not make it because of the NFL south.

The Cards won't get to a Superbowl.  I'll bet my 80,000 Viz and anything else I have on it.

If this happens, it would be remarkable. However, with all of the teams in playoff contention right now, and the current quarterback situation in Arizona, I just do not see it happening.

warmaker : I'll throw my Viz into that pot with you.

I would have enjoyed seeing that myself, but sadly they are not a good team with their current quarterback. I think they might have actually went to the Super Bowl if the QB's could have stayed healthy. I will say that Dallas has improved greatly though and might have given them a huge run for their money.

IgorBird122 : I honestly don't even think that the Arizona Cardinals will even win this week in fact I think they're gonna get blown out. Their qurterback situation is the worst of the remaining 12 teams and they have a bad running game. Those 2 reasons are why I don't think the Cardinals will even score a TD.

Well, it looks like Arizona has lost against Carolina which does means Arizona is eliminated from the playoffs which is quite a downer to that we aren't going to see a home team playing in their own Super Bowl. Well, this means that this curse is still going on.

I was thinking this might be the year

TNot only did Arizona not even win one playoff game, they got blown out. And not only that, their offense didn't even have 100 yards of total offense. In fact, they weren't even close to that. The Cardinals just got absolutely dominated in all 3 phases of the game tonight. They're on a 3rd string QB and they have no running game since Ellington got hurt. They have a pretty good defense, but that's it. Injuries just plagued this team a little too much tonight.

I don't think a team will ever play in a Super Bowl in their own stadium. It puts way too much pressure on them to go out and perform. 2 years ago, I honestly thought the Saints had a good shot at doing it, and even though they made the playoffs, they were nowhere close...just like the Cardinals were nowhere close.

MattyIce : At first, I was pulling for Arizona, but since they lost, I'm really pulling for Pittsburgh to win it all now.

Local Mods : Since Arizona lost the playoffs, you can close this if you want to.
