-- Hi, Mom! I'm writing this on December 4th. I'm waiting for the bus to come. I'm sitting with Mona and Yasmeena and Nour. When I go home, I'm going to tell you I had an "OK" feeling about the English and Arabic exams. Honestly, though, I DON'T. I have a HORRIBLE feeling about both of them. You won't know that until I give this to you, which is whenever I get the I get the English and/or Arabic exams back. I couldn't decide whether to tell you today or later, but I decided on later because I'm a wuss =). The problem is time. I didn't have enough time... Perfection takes time =(. I filled everything in, but I rushed A LOT while doing so. This letter is going to be given to you with the exams. This is the first time I ever actually thought I was going to fail. The failing grades may come to you as a surprise (because I'm a scaredy-cat =)), but I just want you to know that I knew this was going to happen (... I don't know how that's supposed to make you feel better, but I hope it does, anyway =)). Here's proof that I am writing this right after the exams! These are the signatures of my friends, who read this aloud and laughed at it several times: Me --> Yasmine [family name not included due to safety reasons~] Mona --> Mona [family name not included due to safety reasons~] Yasmeena --> yasmina Nour --> Nour [family name not included due to safety reasons~] This actually is funny to me because of how pathetic it is, but it might not be funny to you. Failing grades aren't funny, and I wrote this hoping it would make you feel less upset. This isn't a joke, by the way. I swear. I truly believe I failed the English and Arabic exams. OK, I'm in the bus now. I have a worse feeling about the Arabic one. Like I said, it was because I didn't have enough time. PLEASE don't make me study twice as hard for the Term 2 exams. This has nothing to do with how long I've been studying. I promise =). I can't even imagine the look on your face when you read this. I hope it'll make things at least a bit better. Right now, I don't even know for sure whether I failed or not, but chances are I did. I'm very, very sorry for disappointing you and Daddy. I'll make it up to you guys! I promise! I'm really nervous. These are the first exams I've ever failed. I know it's harder for parents of kids who usually get 80s and 90s and stuff to know that their kid failed an exam than parents of kids who usually get lower grades, but here's something for you to think about: why is this such a huge, surprising disappointment? It's because I usually get great grades =D! When you look at it that way, it seems better, right =)? Even I can't believe I'm writing this. Guys. I FAILED. GUYS, I FAILED. I know I sometimes joke and say I think I failed a test or something, but this time it's real. I'm 99.99% sure I FAILED. OK? I know this is repetitive, but I'm not sure how much it takes to convince you guys. If this were a joke, I would just say, "I failed", while making a funny face or something instead of writing all this. You know how lazy I am =P. The bus is starting to move, so the rest of this letter might be a little hard(er) to read =P. Anyway, I'm so, so, SO, ultra 100% sorry, and I promise I'll try my best to get you guys the best Christmas present ever! Also, I'll try my very best to be quicker during tests and quizzes and exams. I promise. It's difficult for me to be serious, but I really am very sorry, and I will try harder in the future =(. Be thankful I don't fail regularly, though =)! Ha ha. Also, it's a good thing I'm not a bad person, right? That I'm not a delinquent? That I'm caring =)? I know we say academics isn't everything, but sometimes it feels like it is... =P lol. So, again, I am very sorry, but guess what? The teachers say failing the exams isn't enough to make my overall grade for the term below average =). Yay! Please try not to gasp when you see the grades, though =(. You should know by now that I failed. I'm sorry =(. But know that, even though you may be angry at me right now (when you get this, I mean), I LOVE YOU AND ALWAYS WILL! =) -- The above is an apology letter I wrote to my parents (specifically my mom) earlier today in advance for something that could be a shock to them . I don't know whether it's going to happen or not, but I have a sinking feeling that it will. If it doesn't, they might find this even funnier... Lol . Everything is written on the actual paper itself just as it is written here, but I've excluded my friends' last names here for safety reasons! I panicked during my exams today. My hand was literally shaking :. Please tell me what you guys think. NintendoFanKimmy, out!~ -- Hi, Mom! I'm writing this on December 4th. I'm waiting for the bus to come. Hey....Kimmy remember nobody is perfect ok? We all have to make mistakes sometimes, in order to learn from it, and better ourselves ok? Please no need to beat yourself up. Next time work more harder towards it. And I am sure by then you will get better results. ^-^ |

I wouldn't worry too much. ^.^' Everyone gets bad grades every now and then. You normally get good grades right? You'll study harder next time, which is a good thing to learn to do. (Is it bad that I thought of Mona from WarioWare? ) (Is it bad that I thought of Mona from WarioWare? ) |

I know how you feel, Kimmy. I'm thinking of my past years, back when I was at school. Yup, story time, again. I should really write the parts of my life one day in the near future. Oh my, all the things I'll have to say... Anyway, I really know how you feel. The stress, the pressure... I've been a victim of that. But I felt more than that when I got my exam: disappointment. The most disappointing moment was after my Italian exam. I did learn Italian at school. I was a good student but I liked to have some fun with my friends when I was done with my homework, like playing some D&D at the roleplay club. During my exam I made a few grammatical mistakes but the person in charge for my exam was satisfied by the knowledge of the text I had to work with. So I was obviously confident and was expecting a good mark, enough to pass my exam and get my diploma. At the end, I've been devoured by frustration and disappointment. I remember like it was yesterday. I did not expect that these few mistakes could erase my chance of passing the exam. Sadly, yes. So I just hope your exam has been good in spite of all that. Exams are often a stressy period of time, and they only get harder as you go on. If you have really studied well for them, and knew (almost) everything going into the exam, then the problem doesn't lie there. Your parents should get that. Where there does seem to be a problem is the way you fill in your exam. Never rush things. Out of my own experience, I can safely say that that strategy to fill in everything doesn't work. Take your time, and don't panic when the person looking over you while doing the exam says things like "10 minutes left". It's better to leave a question open but calmly and correctly fill in the rest than to lose half a point on ever single question due to rushing it. In fact, I did that today with my Latin exam. I had 2 semi-big questions left 5 minutes before time was up, and ignored one of them to correctly fill in the other. I even had time to check my other answers to see if they were correct, because I knew there wasn't enough time left for the last question. This way I'm only losing 3-4 points instead of many more I would have lost if I hadn't checked. Also, keep in mind that even though you are giving them a letter, your parents will most likely want to talk to you about it. Prepare for such a conversation. A letter can tell words, but not feelings. That's just my view of things. My mentality for learning is really not good. If I make one mistake, i'll feel really bad. I just can't take it if my work isn't perfect, that's not a good mentality, as I'll go crazy at one point. But I just can't help it.
It seems that you also have this mentality, a little at least. It sucks, doesn't it? Sorry i'm not gonna give you a ''Everyone gets bad grades, and it's okay'' Because if I say that, i'll be a hypocrite. I got a high grade on this reading crap, and I made one tiny mistake, and I wanted to bash my head in to a wall. Good luck with everything, And I feel the pain. The best way to apologize isn't so much to say, "Yes, I made a mistake." That part is important. The real way to show you're sorry is to outline a a plan to show them how you expect to get back in the class, get active, and perform better. Say, "This is why it happened. Now here's how I'm going to attack this so my grades improve." Apologizing is good. Showing you're really sorry by showing how you'll improve is even better. If you involve them in the school work and show them for a week or two that you're working hard to get back to where you were (And you were telling us how you lead the class grades), you will show them you're making effort. They'll leave you alone after that. A parent can't be too mad at their kid. Good luck! Apologizing is good. Showing you're really sorry by showing how you'll improve is even better. You made it sound like you had really strict parents who would physically hurt you if something like this happened! You probably scared them almost as much as the possibility of you failing the exams scared you. Next time, just be calm and don't make it seem like you're going to lose control of yourself if they aren't happy. |

PacmanandMariofan : Ha ha, you're right XD. But my parents know how I can be, and I talk to them like this a lot; they know I'm not really scared of them, but I can get upset easily when it comes to them, for some reason, so I reaaally like to avoid them shouting . My mom rarely shouts, anyway (my dad never does XD), but I can tell from her face and tone, even when it isn't harsh, that she's disappointed, and I hate it when I disappoint her . Trust me, there's nothing to worry about; in the end, it's all rooted in my own usually exaggerated cowardice, my love for my parents, and my parents' love for me . It's all good ^^.~ NintendoFanKimmy, out!~ But my parents know how I can be, and I talk to them like this a lot; they know I'm not really scared of them, but I can get upset easily when it comes to them, for some reason, so I reaaally like to avoid them shouting .
